Harley's Axial Wraith Build - Jimmy's 4x4 Ultra 4 KOH Style

So I got the motor combo today... it is the 10.5. What gearing would you recommend to start with? Is it possible to get some decent low end?

Man it's your lucky day! :ror: For going fast, brushless is best and I'd still say 13.5. For the most low end control with a decent amount of top end I am happy with my 13 turn Crawlmaster, but it is about the same as stock or maybe even a little slower.

I'm taking off for the weekend and heading down to the Ozarks. Going to take the Wraith and go hike Ha Ha Tonka park and head up to the abandoned castle up there 8) Should be a good time. There are tons of cool areas around there to hike.

Made some changes to the front end to move my battery further forward. Rig is all prepped and ready for some hiking this weekend.

Should crawl well with all the new stuff! I am a little worried about my XVD pins though.

Never been to the Ozarks...post up some amazing pics. The abandoned castle looks really interesting! Reminds me of an amazing Castle I visited in Luxembourg...The castle vianden...different scale though!

Is that the place with the cold spring right below it, off one arm of Lake of the ozarks?

Yup, it's about 250 feet STRAIGHT down below it. It was about 400 stairs each way.

I ended up having an issue with my front servo this weekend and didn't go hiking with the rig. It was caused by my water running  I never waterproof servos really. So I'll be throwing a new one in here and converting this one to a winch, motor is fine but the POT or board is damaged. Oh well it was still good hiking.

Harley, on the first page you said that you are running a 60 tooth 32 pitch Kimbrough Spur Gear. I just got one today and it's just a little too big. It rubs on the cover. Have you had any problems with it?

I don't run the cover any longer. I like the idea but in the end the only advantage I saw was keeping wires out of the spur, which I try to avoid when possible

well I just ordered a Robertson 32p 56 tooth hard steel. That should fit. You also said you lost your front servo to water. If you are still using the Futaba S9157 Servo call Futaba and see if they will help. They list that servo, and the 9156 I use as waterproof. So far I have never lost one to water on any of my monster trucks.

Great lookin' rig Josh, And im with you - WTF is a cover ? We've gotten by how long without one ? hahaha.

The rearsteer video's are hurting my wallet.

I am guessing it was water related. I have never had a servo do this to me ever since I started so it's likely a fluke. Futaba helps me out with all my stuff so I'm sure this one is no problem 8) I have a spare or two here I think.
