Vanquish VS4-10 Origin Limited Build/Thoughts Issues

Re: Vanquish VS4-10 Origin Limited Build/Thoughts/Issues

LMAO! Hey, with out giving away too many of my secrets, the GoolRC box is empty. Couldn't find anything else to set my chassis on at that time.
The syringe is for my marine grease. Makes it really easy to squirt grease into gears and tight places. It is a must have!

Re: Vanquish VS4-10 Origin Limited Build/Thoughts/Issues

I received my kit yesterday and wanted to let everybody know that I did not have any issues with the axles. Everything went together really nice. All of the machined parts and plastic parts seemed to just fall right together. Extremely happy with how it all went together. It is not done yet, but this is how far I got last night.

I see that you are not using metal balls in the top shock mounts, but using the plastic balls off the parts tree. Were the metal balls not included in your kit either? Just curious because the manual specifically calls out the metal balls for the top shock mount by part number, but I think that is an error.

Metal balls inside metal shocks are a bad idea IMO. I'd rather the plastic ball wear instead of the aluminum shock.

I think you are right. The manual must be wrong. It says to use the same metal balls that are used in the links. I only had enough metal balls for the links. I did use the plastic balls off the shock parts tree.

I’m with Jato, would not want metal balls inside the metal shock caps. I may use something else in place of the plastic balls because I don’t like how sloppy the shock cap is on the plastic balls.

Back in the day when I raced off-road with my RC10, I used fuel line. It holds the shock tight and still lets the shock move around without the slop.

I was thinking of slipping some o-rings over the plastic balls on either side of the shock cap to reduce the slop.

That is a good idea. That should keep it from moving side to side an keep it centered. I’m going try that out. Thanks for the tip!

Still no interior; waiting on my Shapeways order, but the body, wheels, and tires have all come together. Worked out pretty much as intended, if you ignore my crappy paint job. (Matt, if you're still reading, avert your eyes).

Vanquish SHR i think.

They're one of my all-time favorite wheels, I was really stoked to see rohrej use them!

Vanquish SHR Vintage wheels... so nice "thumbsup"

Those wheels really beautiful. What brand are there?

What they said. Vanquish Vintage SHR. I think the styling is a perfect match for this truck. They are a 2.2 wheel, so the tires and foams had to be stretched on.

Did you use the kits fasteners, yours look to be SS not black.

That looks perfect! Great wheel selection! I, too, love those wheels, but never had a rig to use them on. I really wish VP would offer these in 1.9. They look better on scale rigs than they do typical 2.2 rigs like the Bomber, Wraith, etc.

Are those 1.9 Rock Beast XL tires that you're using?

I did not use the kit screws. I used Team KNK stainless screws. I use Team KNK in all of my trucks. I am not a big fan of rusty hardware. Plus I like the way the stainless looks.

Yes they are. With CI 1.9 foams.

Truck looks gorgeous! I've come back to ogle the pictures 3 times now after reading this thread initially.
Honestly, most stretched tire combos look sketchy and often silly. This wheel and tire combo hits the mark exactly. [emoji106]
Excellent job sir.

Thanks for the kind words!

Put the first scratches on it today! Was hoping to get some picks of this copper paint in the sun, but no such luck.
