Gun and knife picture thread!

Most I can find is 1200fps.. Not great for the FD12..
Needs high velocity or big brass, to break in.. Which isn't cheap, when it can be found.

I miss the 169$, 1,000 rounds of 9mm, shipped to my door.. [emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]

In the mail..

What logo is that on the 2 magazines in the case? It looks very similar to the Yamaha MT logo.

Man there is some real tactical stuff going on in here!

Then there is me with my plain old overpriced RIA 1911 45 I get to pick up tomorrow!

If you think John Browning’s 1911 doesn’t qualify as tactical, you need to read some history. But I doubt that in your case Shinchu. RIA makes a damn good 1911 too, congrats!

738$?!?!?!? I have that exact same gun that I bought like 8 years ago, the shop discounted a box of 45acp to make it 400$ even out the door! It’s a shame I lost it in that tragic boating accident along with all my other guns....

You think that's overpriced, I get the American Legion magazine every month, and every so often they put the Viet Nam Tribute .45 in there. It goes for $2500, but it has etchings and certain parts are gold plated

Too funny - the way I read your post was as if it came stuck in between the pages....

My thoughts were HOW MUCH IS A SUBSCRIPTION???

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Yeah I know its overpriced but... timing is everything.
You cant find a 1911 in a san diego Gun store under a thousand bucks (both shops had plenty of $3k nighthawks) and this is a retirement gift to myself after 20 years of service in the navy.
Add to that all the crazy things lately.
Prices are up and I understand why.
I was just stoked to find one so I nabbed it!

This one will be engraved as well with my name, rate/rank, years of service, and maybe a couple little easter eggs.
No gold bits though. Yuck.
The fanciest thing it will get are some Wilson combat mags.
Thats about it. Oh and grips. These are so slick they won't stay on long. I hope to have them replaced before i fire the first rounds.

And yes a 1911 pretty much started the tactical military evolution, just comparing my basic GI to these fully kitted AR types above lol
ARs sure are cool, but in CA are woefully neutered to the point that if I buy another semi-auto rifle, it will either be an M14 or 10/22.

Yeah, I keep forgetting some of you aren't in free states.

I love the 1911 platform and the history behind it. I'd have to have a beavertail grip safety on there, and some grips as you mentioned.

It's wild to think that at one time CA and the rest of the wild wild west represented freedom.

Nothing wrong with the M14 or 10/22 platforms. Both fun and lots of aftermarket support.

yeah its funny, my sister in law lives in NC and my mother in law keeps trying to talk my wife into moving out there.
im not opposed... just the employment thing as i have a SWEET gig here right after retiring from the navy.

anyway, i took the RIA to the range over the weekend to begin the break-in process.
i wet it down real good with CLP before we left. (action was MUCH smoother just racking the slide)
did NOT give it the idiot scratch! yay me.
got to the range (horrible place in san diego, will not be back) and she spit 50 rnds of 230 grain FMJ with ZERO issues. yes, only 50. they are a dollar per round right now. so... yeah. i have kids to feed too lol
also got a few rounds through the .357 trooper MkIII while i was there. gotta keep the dust off the home defence wheelgun.

no pics of the ordeal. sorry. wish i got some of the campfire coming from the 357 lol it always stops conversations at ranges lol BAWOOM *crickets* then usually somebody says something like "HOLY SH!T what was that?!" she still shoots like a dream too.
maybe i will stick a pic of her in this post when i get home.

*snapped a pic of the trooper.

Finally got my retirement gift from work.
Took the company they hired a little longer than expected to finish the box.

Worth the wait!

LOL just barely... colt can't sell new 1911 here, hence the RIA there.
Still can't decide if I will engrave the slide...
I was going to get black slim grips but seeing it in the box I need slim walnut now for sure.

Nice pieces Shinchu! Check out some of the G10 grip offerings out there also. They have some great color combos available, black/grey would look great on that also IMHO.

Mmmm. The want is strong with that one.

Thanks! I've been trading some parts to gather up things for a 10.5 setup also, which is as short as I'll run that can on. The 10.5 will be light and more maneuverable for sure, but the 12.5 most definitely has more long-range capability. The 12.5 will heavy pills should be good out to 500yds, maybe a bit more.
