USRCCA adds another class!

So what is to stop your club from splitting the comps?

Maybe one comp run supers and 1.9's, next comp run 2.2 and scale.. TSC splits ours all up so it doesn't make it a super long day and we can finish quicker, then play around the rest of the day just trail riding. Also with doing that, you can add more events per year to compensate for not running each class at every event..

Just a thought "thumbsup"

That is a valid concern. That is why we will run 1.9 class on a different weekend than 2.2 and super. Our (my clubs) thinking is this new 1.9 comp class and most scale rigs will be able to run similar terrain. While the 2.2 and supers require more challenge. This actually opens up more scale runs on the same days the 1.9's are competing. A win win situation for the scale guys. "thumbsup"

both very valid points and things that need discussed on a per club base for sure. which we will do.

this is all obviously very new and things need worked out at the club level! i look forward to next year and all the crawling! "thumbsup"

will this class be added to nationals next year?

Right on! Enough room for fiddling but strict enough to deter trying to out buck the other guy.

We ran our first indoor comp of the season on Wednesday evening using these rules and while all 4 guys had MRC based vehicles none of them were identical as we each tried to solve some problems our own way.

Can't wait until there a re a couple of other rigs out there.

Losi spec class......... IMO, This is something that is normally
(and should be) left to individual clubs (which I am all for BTW). Limiting MOA is limiting progress and innovation for the mini crawlers.

For all you Cliff Climber owners, if enough of us band together at our local clubs, I am sure we can have this overruled for at least our own comps.

FWIW.... I do get the strict to loose idea..... I just wish it was designed around a better truck.... The cliff climber is far superior. I suspect this is why it was banned from the class. The rule guys certainly know this by now and if the earlier statements are true about certain rule comity members being Losi supporters....... Well... I'm not one to follow rumors, but it makes me wonder. You heard the phrase.... If it walks like a duck...

There are several rules that limit the cliff climber in this class. Let's see here:

-Width
-Wheelsize
-Dig
-Wheelbase

Why does everyone seem to focus so much on the moa thing?

KUDOO's to Jason, Badger and the rest of the rules committee for their hard work and dedication to the sport of RC rock crawling. A class such as this is exactly what is needed. In order to get new people intrested in the sport, you need to have a simple ( IE inexpensive) way to introduce them to the fun of RC rock crawling. Afer they have spent some time in the 1.9 class with it's strict rules, their next step is 2.2's or super class.

Those of you who wanted to see a full out mod 1.9 class are forgetting that you all started at the bottom at some point in time. We need to make room for new people to have a place to start, where they don't have to compete against seasoned drivers, some of which have more money in their riggs, than others have in their vehicle that gets them to the comps.

Again, thank you to the individuals on the rules committee for a job well done.:):):)

Im in, no complaints."thumbsup" I was burnt out how complicated things were getting in the 2.2 class. It was getting hard and expensive to stay on top of things.

With the limited true rock we had back in Louisiana, and what I have found here in my new town, this class will pose no problem in making a fun challenging course outta alot less rock.

Jason,

This is a very simple answer. I can mod my cliff climber to be legal IF it wasn't for that one rule.... NO MOA....

I do respect the hard work that the rule comity has gone through for our hobby. It's a tough job with very little appreciation. Good job all"thumbsup".

This should still be a fun class. I'm just disappointed that there is nothing that I, and the many others like me, can do to get our trucks in the comps.

And no dig.

People have been trying to get rid of it in clods for years and it cannot be done.

Thanks for the new rules in 1.9
any news on the updates for the recognized groups so we can be considered for national spots.lots of new things there and no updates yet?"thumbsup""thumbsup"

I didn't mean it to come across like that.

The scope of this class was set to be strict on no dig, most of the committee members based on what their clubs had told them also were set on making this a strict shafty class.

If you look at the big picture we now have the 1.9" class that is real tight on the rules, then you move up to the 2.2" class which opens up many of the rules allowing things like MOA, and dig, next up almost all the rules are out the door in the superclass.

Pick how strict of rules you want to follow and there is a class for you.

I like the no MOA idea. Having 1.9 rigs have at least a little bit in common with their true-to-life counterparts (like a single motor and driveshafts) other than merely having 4 tires is appealing to me. And frankly, it'll likely be what makes me leave the current 2.2 class for the 1.9s, but I digress. :)

The only issue I have is that on a local level we don't get that many competitors on a regular basis....and rarely Supers. So adding one more class will potentially dilute the current (2.2) class. Not a big deal except for when you have to create a second course for the 1.9 rigs. I hope that's not the case, but it may mean a lot more work for event organizers/volunteers to set up two courses *if* more people don't show up. Anyway, this is only a potential concern locally and hopefully won't come to fruition.

Nonetheless, I applaud the class' introduction! "thumbsup"

so will 1.9 kill the 2.2

when will the first 1.9 comp truck beat a 2.2 at a "big" comp? 8)

looks like a good class I will have one for sure... I personally like the no MOA rule.. I am not crazy about the trackwidth gonna make it hard to run TLT axles.. but I will figure it out..

thanks for getting this done and up guys "thumbsup"

i agree, keep it shaft driven and no dig. but i wish the wheelbase was 1" longer and the track width .5" wider... oh well im just gonna have to get creative with these TLT axles. after reading this thread a couple hrs ago i immediately started building a 1.9 rig. ive got a set of comp ready TLTs a chassis ready and length specs on my lower links.. its like the USRCCA said "hey diesel, heres a new class designed to use all that old TLT shit you've got laying around!"

Nice Job on the 1.9 Comp Class Rules to those involved with making them.

Everyone saying that the rules are being made because of one truck? How many production 2.2 trucks were out when they made the 2.2 Comp Class Rules? You can't say the TLT because it was not a 2.2 truck out of the box, hell it was just a pair of axles to most people!

I can understand the "No MOA" rule but can also see the disappointment for those who have Cliff Climbers. But the rules are made and like others have said on a local club level it can be decided if they want to include MOA's or not I guess. I do think that Duratrax should have went for a closer size to the Losi MRC to make the CC more different in comparison to a 2.2 rig.

I think these rules will work to help this class grow and with new trucks supposedly coming soon should only help. And the rules will do their job in helping grow R/C Crawling as whole as they allow for someone looking into to it to get a relatively cheap setup and know that if they want to give comping a try they can.

I am looking forward to this class being started here! And I don't even have a 1.9'er yet!

Again these are the rules and that's that. Unless they make changes? ;-)

looks like tlt's fit the 8" rule pretty good to me..

I did the same as you ran to the dungeon to see what I could come up with got a chassis drawn up and ready to cut out in the morning and a skid made.. :ror:

so is a stock mini t body legal? I didnt get a chance to measure that but I have one or seven  laying around..

I don't think this will be an inexpensive class.....less expensive then 2.2 maybe, but definitely not inexpensive;-)

first i want to say that this class sounds like a blast gonna have to get me a 1.9 real soon .....

also thanks to all who sit on the usrcca rules committee for your time and effort in getting this up and goin .....
