USRCCA adds another class!

You guys crack me up saying this is an entry level class, that people won't have to spend alot on to be competitave, then in the same breath are talking about polusion axles and custom made axles..........

I drove a bone stock losi, then drove a tricked out one. These will be $800 trucks just like the 2.2 class.
I agree.
you could add pti axles in there as fitting also.

My biggest complaints on the class is that it does seem to try to be a spec class without coming out and saying it. If they want a spec class, make it a spec class. Also it doesnt follow along with rules that were being ran at the local level by many clubs. No DIG and the short Wb are allot more restrictive than I have seen at any club. Most I know of were running a 10-10.5" wb and allowed dig. No MOA, not a big deal for me personally, I just feel that it limits companies from producing a vehicle that is innovative. I do understand people wanting to keep it realistic and for years there has been a group wanting MOA out of 2.2. Currently all my trucks have shafts so Im not making the point for my own benifit.

I have driven the losi and I know what its like, if I wasnt so focused on getting my BTA's up in production I would pick one up. The small size does change things greatly.
To all the guys complaining about no dig, no MOA's, and us creating a spec class.
Remember that all the rules committee members are guided by the people in their clubs. These rules reflect the wishes of the majority of competitors represented by the USRCCA, not just the committee members. All of the specifications are the results of votes.

There was no intention to make it a spec class. The Losi was looked at closely because the wheelbase works well for the tire size and axle width, and it is the first of it's kind. However, specs like the width were not passed without considering other manufacturers such as the TLT axles and those yet to be released.

I think the rules are a good base and like we have always seen in crawling, guys will build and modify things like axles, wheels, and tires to make things fit within the rules. That aspect is still alive and well. "thumbsup"

Thought I would throw this out there. I have 3 sets of axles here that I can run in this class. Not including my Losi.

TLT 7 1/2"
PTI 8"
Poulson 7 3/4"

You should see the mini polsons"thumbsup", cute little things:-P.

Maintaining and keeping up with the mutlitude of mods that will become avalible (I hope) not to mention a new tire and wheel every now and then. I can see staying competitive will require some regular updating. It will only be different from 2.2. in regards to no dig or MOA and that was an excelent dicision IMO.

exactly... crawling has gotten away from its roots of ACTUALLY BUILDING SHIT, having to be creative and improvising. there's so many rigs out there that are carbon copies of the rig next to it in line at a comp because everyone is building what is popular and easy to build. ill admit i am partially guilty of this as well. i really like the challenge of building up a truck for a new class that IS NOT gonna be like everyone else's rigs in the class. in my opinion this class was not made specifically for the losi MRC. it was made for trucks like the MRC and guys who think outside the box and arent afraid to build something different. why else would the specs be just enough to allow TLTs? get creative, build something unique and have fun with it.

Again i say amen. I talked about this with someone else the other day. Im noob to the crawling scene but i have been into rc along time and thats the thing i like most about crawling, more than any other form of r/c; making stuff for new builds and ideas! being on the cutting edge is the best place to be! If it bolts right on i always think i did something wrong or its going to explode or something anyway.

My dremel loves me but doesnt get along with my carpet, my girlfriend or her cat, T-F-B for them then"thumbsup"!!!

thank you rules committee, job well done"thumbsup". i was waiting for the official rules to service so i can start modding mine!

Two questions

1. Specs for bodiless. AKA Tubers etc

2. ESC, I have read that only non reversing Escs are allowed in some of the classes. Is this going to be true for the this class since the MRC comes stock with a reversing esc?

1. They are already posted
o 2.1.3.5 - 1.9 class minimum overall bodiless dimensions must be 6.75” overall length, 2.5” overall width, & 3.25” overall height.

2. if you read that thread and still believe it. You need to go re-read the thread towards the end ;-)

I was lookign at the rules page in the link on the first post and muct have missed the specs.

Oh well, my eyes are sure not what they used to be I quess. Either that or I have not had enough coffee yet this morning. .

As far as the reversing thing. LOL. I have not been keeping up with that thread.

I have a question maybe Jason or one of the other people on the rules committee can answer.

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=6 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt2 style="BORDER-RIGHT: 1px inset; BORDER-TOP: 1px inset; BORDER-LEFT: 1px inset; BORDER-BOTTOM: 1px inset">o 2.1.2.2 – 1.9 Class body must be 2.75” minimum height on sides. No less than 9” total length and full original width, and no less than 3” in the center. All bodies should resemble its original form (Jeep bodies look like a Jeep)</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Specifically the 9 inches total length. Why eliminate so many of the cool little 1/18 scale bodies out there? Is there something about that specific body length that prevents some unfair advantage over a shorter one? i know in the overall scheme of things it wouldnt really matter to most people in local clubs for weekend crawls but im just curious.

I'll be really curious to see how the first few comps work out with this class .... After giving it some thought, I don't think the rules are setup to favor the Losi rig, in fact I think that after a few comps you'll need a custom rig and the Losi's won't be competitive at all.

With everyone building 1.9 tired, short 2.2 rigs, the Losi will not hold up to the abuse these rigs will handle. Plus there's the motor size, axles and drive shafts difference, so power output is way incompatible between the two.

I guess we'll wait and see. I'm still building up a Losi, but imagine it will be sold right after the first comp and I'll be building up something more inline with the openness of the rules ...

One question: Are the rule set for one year, or can they be changed to straighten out the intent of the class? Meaning, the class is a limited 1.9 class right now, almost anything goes. It's not a mini spec class as it might have been intended ...

Here is the 1.9 TLT almost complete  Most fun I have had on a build in a while thanks to this class
