Ottsix TKO10

When you say VVD, do you mean specifically the Vanquish products VVDs?

Any xr10 universal/cvd would work. I typically use the Axial xr10 universals and cut them down and file new tangs. I know some vendors even provide this as a service.

If you get wide tubes, then you dont have to modify the xr10 universals/cvds/vvds.

If you want to maintain roughly stock scx10 width, from my experience you either have to modify them yourself or find a vendor who sells them already modified. "thumbsup"

I'm talking about these

Instead of these

I cracked a housing today, not sure how as it was all light trailing today.....this is my third time with these out crawling.

Either should be fine for the wide setup. Probably get a little more steering with universals. But it'd be minimal. "thumbsup"

When you do the wide setup in the front how do you make the rear match track width? Any way to do it other than wheel spacers?

Looks like you also have those xbeef brackets fitted also. Goes to show how much they do. Nothing at all. Fit some beeftubes and it won't happen.

I bought 3 cases narrow splined and standard tubes from Dan (Beeftubes). Then I read on Facebook that ottsix was discounting version 1 and releasing V2. Needless to say I was a bit disturbed just investing in the V1 set up. Hell V1 hasn't been out very long and they are already phasing them out? I sold everything new and am currently looking for my next housing.:evil:

Don't get me wrong guys. I stand behind ottsix and what they do for our hobby. I'm all about improvement to, but dang. Release a new housing and discontinue the first a few months after release? Allot of folks dropped a ton of $ on Beeftubes etc on the first release. Not to mention Dan at Beeftube who designed some beautiful tubes for them. His machine time isn't cheap either. I thought about just stockpiling on first gen housings then thought again.

That's what I'll likely end up doing is just buying maybe 2 or 3 housings. Still about half the price of new beef tubes.

Wonder why they are changing and what the reasoning was.

Basically any housings with beef tubes are pretty indestructible. Maybe they are going with a different plastic, or making some CMS friendly housings.

I don't really care too much. Someone is always the last 2 buy gen 1. I was more irritated that the only place it was announced that I could find was a tko10 Facebook fan page.

That is true. I mean the trusses for the gen 1 were always a deal breaker for me. Fortunately they were perfect for my leaf sprung willies that doesn't need link or servo mounts.

There are several methods. If you have fancy beadlocks with adjustable offsets, just put on some wider hubs. You can do the wide setup at the rear and some vendors make the correct width axle shafts as well.

I have only done the narrow mod so the track width is ~1/4" wider at each end due to the wraith/xr10 chub/knuckle being wider than the scx10 setup, so I just offset with some hubs, or even just a wider hex at the rear. "thumbsup"

Truss remains unchanged for gen2. From the pics I saw on FB they looked identical to the 1st gen. Just extra ribbing etc on them for added strength I think.

I'll buy some 225's for the front and 475 or 600 for the rear.

Not being a FB member, can anyone post the info here? Or post a link? I can't seem to find any info on Ottsix's FB, just race results.

So should I be hoarding Gen 1 housings since I have beef tubes already?
