Official 2014 Battle Grounds Championships

I was on the piles Sunday evening for a few, it looked like people had been pulling some of the smaller rocks out of the piles and throwing them and stacking some of them away from the piles (what usually tends to happen). One large rock on the first pile looks like it had some freeze damage and split in 3.

I plan to be hotel hunting tomorrow, so I'll post up what I can find. "thumbsup"

OK, I found out why everything in sight is booked, I guess there is a huge soccer tournament that weekend. I checked places along I-675 and I-70 within a reasonable distance and they were either fully booked, or scary reviews.

About the best I found, with availability is in Xenia, which isn't that far (same town I stay in, with family, during BG), maybe 15min drive if there is traffic.

I talked to Sharon there and told her we would need 10-15 rooms (she said they currently have about 30 available). Just call the number 1-937-372-9921, and tell them you are staying for Battle Grounds. She said she might not have it in their system until tonight, I'll double check tomorrow that they have got everything setup."thumbsup"

Question regarding trail class.

At Ecc use of 3rd channel (dig or 4ws) was not allowed. It's allowed per trail class rules but was left out of Ecc since it was the classes first run. It has been suggested that beginning at BG the use of 3rd channel should be allowed. I would like to know what the call will be at BG so competitors can make the necessary adjustments if needed.

Thanks,
Chris

The rules say you can use dig OR 4ws. So, I'd say that's what we should do.

We will run the class as the rules state. Channel 3 will be allowed as it is in the rules."thumbsup"

I am trying to order tickets and when I use Pay Pal it says event not found and won't let me complete registration, any ideas on whats wrong?

Everything is good on the eventbrite page...not sure. Maybe try later.

I will, thanks!

Come on people sign up, it's going to be a blast, and if your skeptical about trail class it was the most fun I had at ecc, awesome fun class!

I'm goin to second Chris on that. The mood was light and cheery during the trail class.
I forgot I was comping during my 3rd course, we were all laughing and carrying on so bad!

Stopped back past the Ramada today, she has 10 rooms blocked out specifically for BG, but still has an addtional 20 vaccant rooms for that Friday and Saturday as of now.

The rooms are $82.00/night + tax. Like I posted earlier just say it is for Battle Grounds, and it should be good, their computer has it under block code "CBATLE", block ID 78952.

It's About a 20 minute drive from the Ramada. And like maybe two minutes from the baymont. Not sure how they compare.

How close is the Ramada? How decent is it compared to the Baymont... also how does the drive from there to the quarry compare to Baymont?

Thanks

The Ramada is 10.66 miles from Oakes Quarry, about 15 minutes, and the Baymont is only about 1 mile.

I have not been to the Ramada but after checking their web site and reading the reviews, I'd say it's as decent as the Baymont, and should be fine. I hope so because that's where I'm staying.

Both hotels listed say that they have no rooms available during the dates of the event through their website. I'll have to call there and double check.

Baymont (if you look at the map EDGE put up) is right at the "n" in Fairborn. The other hotel mentioned, where most people stayed last year, is just south of Wright Patterson. There are about 8 hotels in the same area, I stopped at 3 others there and they were booked (the ones I didn't stop at had bad reveiws online). I also stopped at one in Huber Heights (about the same distance, but north rather than south), and they were full also. The next decent ones were about 20 miles out on the freeways.

As for route, the one on the map EDGE put up has some construction going on right now right at the Xenia city limit. I took the Trebein Rd. to 35 route the other day (road going directly south from the star), and it is pretty quick, and takes you through all the restaraunts, shops and gas stations on the way into town.
