Here we go.....

Just saw one yesterday at the LHS. Talk about huge and beefy. Makes my 1/6 scale new bright bodies look puny in size, that or they're "scale" gets rounded to the nearest size up.

Vitavon makes axle housings for it already too.

Something makes me thing these axles may make it onto a lot of Monster trucks if axial offered a centered housing.

Honestly parts that come out this quick have me worried they havent taken the time to think about the design much, they just want to be first to market. Seems like its better to wait to see what might need altering and beefing up rather than just copying the injection molded parts with a small spin on it.

I see Treal added more holes on the shock towers, okay great but they only allow you to lift the truck.
That said I wouldn't mind the towers for the panhard mount... who carries Treal in the US? anyone?

Agreed, I do like the meal panhard mount. Mine came in yesterday and I'll take it out on a few runs before deciding what to upgrade. I've already thrown enough $$ at it. :)

I agree completely.
Apparently, there's a market out there for metal replacement parts for RC's - as if metal is always preferable to plastic. Parts that are under high loads and aren't allowed to flex usually break. Replacing a plastic part with metal simply transfers the loads to other parts causing them to fail.

That said, too much flex can affect performance. One area the SCX6 is lacking is steering and it's not entirely attributed to the servo. The panhard end connection mounts are plastic and are single shear so a lot of steering throw is lost to flex in these plastic mounts. This guy has braced both ends of the panhard mounts to regain some lost throw. This is something I can do myself and it's free.

Is there any talk about options other than running the 17mm wheel hex? I'm trying to figure a way to use my standard Vanquish 2.2 beadlocks.

Think someone besides Vitavon will drop aluminum beadlock wheels for this that will work with the SLW hub?

I have to ask, have you seen these wheels and tires?

Would you really trust a 12mm hex with this behemoth.
EDIT: also after drilling out the 12mm hex to fit the much larger axle shaft the drive pin for the hex will have a fair bit less contact and strength will be lowered.

Where are you gonna find a 7" tall 2.2" tire?

Honestly I dont see 2.2's as an option for this thing.

Here's a comparison vs Axial KR2's from the Bomber

Funny how you ask would you REALLY trust a 12mm hex? APPARENTLY, the losi LMT can use 12mm hexes, so you can use other wheels with the monster truck.

And that is a monster truck.

Its worth pointing out that the LMT has OPTIONAL 12mm hex's and it is designed to use 17mm, Its an open diff rig and its not quite as heavy at 18lbs vs 24 lbs.

Most of the chatter over aftermarket parts that I'm seeing on the web appears to be for aluminum beadlocks so I think odds are very good that other manufacturers besides Vitavon will offer wheels.
Consider that there are now at least two companies making aluminum shock hoops for the '6 and I've not seen anyone asking for those.
Perhaps give it more time.

Ah, I got my wires crossed. For some reason I was thinking it was a 2.2 wheel. Now it all makes sense. The 17mm hex with a truck axle got me lost there. I had assumed it was a 2.2 wheel for some reason.

I agree the 17mm is a better solution for sure. I gotta stop mixing cocktail hour with crawler time. :lmao:

I'm half-tempted to scoop up a set of the wheels and tires and install them on my Team Associated DB8 Nomad 1/8th scale buggy, it is a belly dragger as is.

I hear ya. The best combo on mine as been the Traxxas UDR wheel with the Proline Racing Hyrax tires. I converted my Nomad to 6s and it's a beast with these wheels and tires. The OEM ARRMA Mojave wheels and tires also run very well.

I didn't notice how much it flexed until I read this and check mine out. I was shocked at all the flex. Its a bummer that they copied the original panhard mount instead of making it a double shear. Oh well gonna try and make my own braces to see if it helps. Already did the bec which did make a difference.

Same here. I never owned a 10-3 so this is all new to me.

The combination of the truck's large size, soft grippy tires and spools in both axles means this rig will likely never have a super tight turn radius. The front tires tend to roll under in a hard turn so I find myself backing up to adjust my approach more than with any 10th scale. It's like trying to crawl a limousine.

The list of mods grows each day but the weather here has been awesome and I'd rather spend precious free time driving the truck rather than working on it.
Seems odd to say this but what I need is about a week of steady rain so I can get some work done.

you really should. I mean, why not? it sounds like a fun and easy way to refresh a rig

I've already bought a few things to try to make me like it more, but it seems I'm over go-fast rigs...

It already has Proline Badlands pre-mounts, and I have the desert colored pre-painted body panels, clear panels, AND a new cage - I had ordered it in the desert color scheme but the box was incorrectly labeled and I opened it up to find the damn green and blue one!

But I've only run 3 packs through it, and I've had it for years now...
