A little something in the works for all Sudu One owners.

This is a custom tranny specifically designed for the Sudu One chassis using RC4WD R2 gears and the optional long output shaft (short shaft in the pics). Weight will land at 20-25g less than stock. This should fit all Sudu One versions but will require a new skidplate.

I would be happy to offer 3 interested Sudu drivers the transmission housing, hardware and skid plate at no cost in return for drive time and test reports. Test drivers will have to purchase the gears from RC4WD. If you are interested to test out the tranny and able to do it within the next month or so, please send me a PM.

Thanks!

Tomi

Now that is really cool and innovative. I have an idea for something like that. "thumbsup"

awesome to hear.. i am collecting parts to start my first shafty build which this would be a nice addition to my sudu chassis i just purchased from krawler koncepts.. i really like having a one stop shop place for a variety of products . "thumbsup"

Price for the housing, bearings and hardware will be around 40 euros, including worldwide First Class Mail shipping.

The cost of the needed flanged bearings (4x 4x8x3 and 2x 5x10x4) is 10 euros / tranny alone. If anyone knows a more affordable source I will be happy to know.

The customer will have to purchase the RC4WD R2 Heavy duty gear set, and if needed the optional long out put shaft separately.

Hats off to Tomi for allowing any 3 supporter's of NCD that has a Sudu1 to be part of the testing procedure in road testing these new Sudu specific gear boxes.

Im honoured to be part of a team that gives back to the guys that support his product regardless of being a Team Driver or not. "thumbsup""thumbsup"

Hi Tomy,

Does a R2 tranny (without dig) would fit into the bodyless version ?
(sorry for my bad english)

I'm afraid a stock R2 transmission won't fit. It will be both too wide and too long with a 540 motor.

I'll post up the dimensions as soon as I get access to my cad software.

I have a slightly different housing a for a general purpose stand alone unit, which will be a little narrower than the housing for the Sudu chassis pictured here.

Your thoughts on max/min pinion gear? Overall ratio from motor shaft to output shaft? Obviously depends on pinion size...so just pick one.

What's the dimensions in the gearbox as a standalone unit?

Just trying to find out what way to go for my current project.

It looks as if the standalone unit will have the following dimensions with a standard size 540 brushed motor and 17t pinion gear installed:

Width: 56.5mm
Height: 41mm
Depth of transmission: 22mm
Total length of transmission / motor combo front of transmission to end of motor endbell (output shaft not included): 75mm

The RC4WD site says 10:1 to 30:1 with 8t to 20t pinion gears. I have asked Totorax for advise on pinion gear size and he recommended a 17t pinion for a 35t motor. Being that he has several years of experience with the R2 gears in his sporty I took his advice. So the tranny is designed around a 17 pinion and there is room for adjustment in both directions.

Hi tomi would you recommend aluminum screw on the gearbox or better to stay with the steel screws
Cheers Rino

8mm long aluminun screws will work equally well as steel.

Because I run a 45t motor ill be trying a 18t pinion and a 20t pinion and I forgot to mention a big thanks for the opportunity to test this gearbox for you tomi :)

Rino as you using RC4WD gears just check the pitch of the R2 gears. Iam pretty sure they different to the Axial pinions you been using.
