Gun and knife picture thread!

Maybe I'm being shallow, but I love the custom grips on that Ruger .22!

...and the Tandemkross Halo, too.

Good thing I am not currently making money or living out in the country somewhere, because I'd be seriously tempted to go out and pick one of those up!

Thank you! There are different patterns of the grips. I chose this one, but after receiving them I think I should have went with the other style without the round circles. I do like these though. It's just me being picky.

After shooting my dad's Mark II or Mark III 22/45 a couple of years ago I knew I'd eventually get one. They are accurate and reliable (not always true with 22LR). And when this new Mark IV went on sale for $280 I snatched it up and don't regret it one bit. It's an awesome training tool for me as a new shooter. It's a lot of fun as well.

Talon grips are a MUST on the G43 IMO. I sweat a lot and that little sucker gets slippery. I shot my G43 a little on Friday and I like it more than I remember and I was actually hitting the target. :ror:

Good to hear it!
The number one thing I did, was get the Hyve +2 mag extension.
What a World of difference!
Shoots like a G19, now!

That and the Apex flat faced trigger..

Thought about getting the slide milled.. Just as part of a "project"

Hyve extension and Apex trigger on my G43 and G26..

That MKIV looks awesome Tim! And congrats on the M&P too.
Thank you!

The Hyve extensions look cool too! "thumbsup"

The Victory trigger on my MKIV 22/45 is my first experience with a flat trigger. I honestly don't notice a difference between it and curved triggers. The thing I do like about curved triggers is that they force your finger into the same spot every time. That consistency isn't there with a flat trigger in my short experience.

I have read tons of good feedback about Apex so during the eBay 15% off sale I ordred an Apex aluminum trigger enhanced action kit with the carry weight trigger for my full-size M&P Pro. I'm anxious to try it and then compare it to the new M&P 2.0 factory trigger.

Two questions. I'm looking for recommendations.

1. Do you guys use any sight pusher tools? If so which one? I'm looking at investing in one.
2. Do you wear shooting gloves? If so, which ones? Normally I don't want them, but on hot days when my hands are sweating it would be nice to have extra grip on some of my guns.

Thank you!

The flat face trigger on your MKIV is completely flat.
The Apex trigger isn't that flat. It has a bend in it, towards the bottom.

The Hyve extensions are a piece of art! Not only for the look, but feel and performance gains, in shooting.

1. I've never used one. But I've never tried to replace the sights on a handgun either.
2. Depends on what I'm doing. Range trips and such, normally not needed but the 8.5" 5.56 gets HOT quick so I like them for that. Some classes I've taken I've worn them as we were told if we didn't we'd regret it. My hands were sore at the end of a two day carbine class, but without the gloves they'd have been raw.

I got my NcStar VISM sight pusher tool, TruGlo TFX Pro sights for the M&P 2.0 Compact and an Apex Tactical aluminum enhanced trigger kit for my M&P Pro.

NcStar isn't known for quality, but overall this sight pusher got pretty good reviews online so I thought I would give it a try. It worked well to remove the stock rear sight on my new M&P 2.0 Compact and to install the rear TRX Pro rear sight. But it won't do front sights which is a bummer. I tried taking the front sight off with a punch, which seems to be a universally accepted method, and the first light blow to the punch nicked the stock sight. OK I'll stop there until I figure this out or take it to a local gun shop.

I also installed the Apex trigger kit kit on what is my very first gun - the M&P Pro. For as much hype as Apex gets online I'm not impressed after dry firing. I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet. After dry firing the trigger pull definitely has less pre-travel and over travel and it's smoother, but it's actually a stiffer pull than the stock Pro trigger (verified with my Lyman scale). And getting the preinstalled pin in the aluminum trigger to move was a joke. I bent a punch and had to use a vice just to get it to move. Even then it was so tight and I nicked the trigger with the punch when trying to recess the pin. You can't see this in the photo because it's on the other side. And the trigger doesn't hit the S&W molded trigger stop. It stops before that which I don't like. I tried adjusting the trigger bar per Apex's horrible (480p max) installation video to no avail. Overall initial impressions say don't buy into the hype of the Apex trigger "enhanced" kit. Just get the aluminum or polymer trigger if you want to get rid of the S&W hinged trigger. And other companies make a trigger and I am pretty sure they are cheaper than Apex.

That sounds like a pretty shi$$y experience, with Apex and S&W, combo!!
Doesn't look or sound like the same trigger, for Glock.
The G26 was drop in unit, with trigger bar.
The G43 did need the trigger bar swapped and that pin pushed in.. it was Tight, for sure!
Over all, I'll put one in my next Glock.

Warning, pic heavy!

So the rest of the M5E1 parts showed up today, as did the scope for the bolt gun. So I got to finish up tow builds in one evening. To say I'm anxious for a range trip is, well...

Aero Precision has some really nice touches on their stuff, I'm super happy with this build for sure. Little things like, no roll pin for the bolt catch, you get a threaded pin very similar to a drive shaft pin on a RC.

I timed the brake with a shim kit from Precision Armament

Leveled my scope, yada yada

Anyway, here's the finished build and build sheet. I've wanted an AR10 or AR10 variant for a LONG ass time. And this was all built from sales over July 4th, and shortly thereafter. I saved a LOT of money on this one, and I can't freaking wait to shoot it!!

Aero Precision complete M5E1 18" CMV upper
Aero Precision .308 carbine buffer kit
Toolcraft nickel boron BCG
Strike Industries charging handle w/ extended latch
Aero Precision stripped M5E1 lower receiver
Aero Precision LPK without FCG
Rise Armament RA-140 SST cassette trigger w/ anti walk pins
Luth AR MBA-4 stock with adjustable cheek rest and Airtech Limbsaver recoil pad
Hogue over molded grip
Midwest Industries bipod mount
Harris S-LM 9-13" w/ S Loc
Strike Industries Jcomp brake w/ PA shim kit
Athlon Talos BTR wrapped in Aero Precision ultralight extended mount

On to wrapping up the bolt gun. I debated forever about rings while I was waiting on my scope. There are some fresh ideas out there from companies like Iota. But at the end of the day, I just went with tried and true M10 rings from American Rifle Company. The ARC rings solve a lot of the issues with normal rings, and I gotta say, I'm sold.

They're split rings, with a single bolt. So there's no twist or torque to fight when tightening down your scope. I just stays true the whole time.

Rings were money right out of the box, not that I'd expect any less

Yeah, I know, I'm OCD with the levels.

Sweet builds! "thumbsup"

I started building my Aero based AR-15 as well and loved that threaded bolt catch pin as well. I saw some "prepper" AKA tin foil hatter state that the good thing about MIL-Spec is that parts will always be around, but if Aero goes out of business that threaded bolt catch pin won't be found. I thought to myself, I'm sure I could make an RC driveshaft screw work.

LOL, thanks guys. I'm really happy with the outcome of both. Now I can shift my bank funds towards reloading gear. I have three or four more items I need to do rifle rounds right, and need to build a case annealer as well. It's not a must, but reloading the same brass 10x more before trashing it makes it worth the time and cost.

Tim, if that scenario ever happens, and I can't fab something up to make my gun run properly, I was probably doomed from the get go for the zombie apocalypse I suppose. Hell, an old timey hand drill and a bigger roll pin would work just fine.

Great looking guns sir! I like your LuthAr stock. Mine is similar but I think different. Maybe mine is an older style. It works great though.

If you are OCD with the levels then so am I because that is how I mount scopes as well. The threaded set screws are definitely a plus on the bolt catch and forward assist but I definitely found blue loctite to be a must. Haven't lost a pin but did have one start to loosen up. Aero (and many other companies) thread the hole for the rear takedown pin detent as well so I bought a set screw to hold that spring in as well. They usually don't come in the LPKs. I just snip the length of the set screw off the spring so the rear pin isn't too tight. It makes changing end plates so much easier. I try to put QD endplates on all my ARs so I can use my QD sling with every rifle.

I believe I voiced my displeasure with Magpul MBUS sights earlier in this thread. Well the MBUS sights went on sale for less than $60 shipped for the set so I gave in. So I guess my new build will have backup sights.

While at a local gun shop I saw the Magpul MBUS Pro sights and I have to say they are nice and small. With some quick research online I found that they are only an ounce more than the plastic MBUS sights, but they are a lot smaller. Do any of you guys have experience with the MBUS Pros?

I have a set on one of my ARs. They are really well made but are a little spendy unless you can find them on sale. I got mine for a little over $100 shipped (front and rear set) when I got them. They are a good set. I had them on a 16" barrel 5.56 AR and the were dead on at 100 yds out of the box. They have a positive lockup when open or closed so you don't have to worry about the being in the wrong position when you don't want them to be. I believe they are set up height wise for absolute co whitness with most red dot sights.

Thank you sir! Blue loctite has been my friend for about three decades of various hobbies now. They should give me some kind of endorsement deal. My LPK did actually come with both pins, and thanks to you, I know what the extra one is for. :lmao: I've just used the grip to keep it in place, same as the safety detent and spring. I'll take it apart and put the pin in there though.

Won a raffle and didn't really want the gun I had won, So they gun shop gave me the $$ amount in credit and I used it toward this.

Not a bad little gun for all of $165 including the price for the background check and the money I spent on the raffle tickets

Springfield Micro compact 1911 in .45ACP

Came with case, holster, magazine holster and an extra mag

Gun shop took it in from a police officer that had some trigger and internal work done to it, $1500+ in receipts.

I've yet to shoot a handgun that had a trigger or ergos that beat a good 1911. "thumbsup"

Agreed. SO hard to describe but I'll try. I choose my guns based on how they feel in my hand before even shooting them to decide if that one gets my $$. Don't care what others say to a point cause if it doesn't feel right it's not in my safe. My 1911 i can hold and not even know it was in my hand save for the weight, point it with my eyes closed and be on target every time. Twirl me around like pin on the donkey and same scenario. Simply the most perfect "Feeling" gun i have.

My Dad's 47' 1911 is the same way. JMB was an alien in my book. A timeless firearm that is so perfect in feel and function will make 99.9% who try it agree.
