hello all. im a newb. i race offroad and oval, looking to get myself into an SCX10 for some trail running and light crawling. I like the scale look of it mostly

My name is Andy and I am addicted to toys. I currently run a Losi MRC for terrorizing the dog in the house and general bafoonery and have a Wraith for making a fool of myself on the rocks. I'm in Sumter, SC and luckily have hooked up with the SC guys and been able to pick their brains a bit and get myself pointed in the right direction. I have a 1:1 4Runner as well with a little done to it. I got into this game thinking crashing around with an RC car would be cheaper than a fullsize rig...WRONG!

FNG here, have owned a couple of buggies and an HPI savage in the past. Have really been looking into the crawling portion of the game lately. Managed to find my way here from pirate4x4.com. I have 2 boys and we are about to get started in this by christmas. Have plans to build some sort of course in the corner of my yard to have something we can do together. We are from Shreveport, LA.

This page is awesome, there's so much information that I really don't know where to start. I've been reading for a couple months and I'm sure when I'm done my wife will hate you all for fueling my new addiction.

Hey.

Name is Georg and i live in Norway. Mostly doing RC drifting at the time, but have been into rc heli's, micro racing(mini-z) and just gotten hooked an the crawler/scale trucks.
Got a Redcat crawler and now waiting on my SCX10 Trail Honcho kit.
Lots of places where i live to crawl and do some trailing. Mountains, riverbeds, sand/mud pits, caves++
Sweet thing about this hobby is that we can do it all year here, even in winter time:)

Hi guys.

Been lurking here for a while. I'll hopefully be getting into the crawling scene shortly, but I've played with my friends crawlers quite a bit. I also have my own 1:1 buggy I love taking to the local(ish) trails and offroad parks.

Hello all, My name is Dave I'm out of Bellmawr, NJ. right on the other side of the bridge from Philadelphia. I'm 100% new to the Crawling scene, acxtually I'm 100% new to the RC scene. I have been into the Off road world for about the whiole 29 years of my life. Currently I'm more into the mud racing end of the motorsports world. I travel to North carolina on almost a monthly basis., and I run my own Hill & Hole track at New Egypt Speedway.
i recently came across a rc crawler for sale on a local jeep club website. I figured it would be neat for my son and I. I bought it for $200. All I knew when I bought it was that it was a Losi MRC with a sensored brushless losi motor with "metal upgrades" in the transmission and axles. the remote is a DX3E and the charger is a Turnigy Accucell 6. Also all came in a Storm case with a crap load of spare parts. Also stated that is was a "Scale chassis".

After the past couple days of reading this site I can tell you that the Motor is a Losi 18.5 turn with a xcelorin sensored ESC. The scale is 1/18. the wheels are 1.9s the tires are "Outcroppers". The wheels are weighted bead locks, the wishbones are "integy". As I said all of this is new tyo me so I have no clue what most of this means.

I also broke it within about 5 mins of having it home. I put it on it's side and tried righting it under it's own power. Well the front driveshaft came apart and one half smacked against the frame rail. Now the motor can't turn the transmission while under any strain. If i take the driveshafts out, it will turn, if i hold any tension to the gears on the trans it won't turn.

Hi all

New at this site, but not in the hobby of R/C

I live in Norway,34 years young :lmao:, been doing R/C on and off as long as i remember.. New at crawlers though... Mostly been doing 1/8 truggy/MT, and some airplanes..

Sort of a "modaholic" in everything i do, so going over to crawlers was an expensive turn in the hobby! (Darn many cool things for these cars!) "thumbsup"

I`ve allready learned alot on this board, and look forward to learn more, and perhaps share some myself when possible :)

new from the Netherlands..

hello,

I am probably one of the few Dutch people around here. Its good to see that there's a huge crawler addiction in the states. Here in Holland their just a few.

I drive a new bought Losi night crawler. Its a month old now and upgraded already. Stil lots of work to be done though:)

Stil running standard esc, bec, motor and servo. Unfortunatly parts are not easy to get a hold of here. Ordering from USA is expensive with tax at the border and so on.

Like making spare parts my self. I bought some metal tubing and delrin and allready made new lower link's and stuff. Also weighted the wheels.

Crawls great!

New here just saying hi. Got my new SCX10 Honcho. Great kit and my first crawler. So far more fun then any other RC toy I've had. Played with it today and all it could use is stiffer steering linkage. Here's a short vid of me crawling over some Porsche wheels.

New to the site, but been doing RC for 20+ years. Dabble in everything, but partial to scalers, crawers, and solid axles in general. :) Have a little one at home, and possibly another on the way (!) so time is somewhat limited but squeezing in projects where I can.

Started building this, and it prompted me to look over here for some tips...no idea why i was never here before, but found lots of info and like the more "freewheeling" nature of some of the comments. :)

n00b crawler (sorta)

I've recently returned to R/C after almost 20 years out. My first truck was (is) a Royal Crusher - now a shelf queen, my second a Clodbuster - now a box of parts I'm slowly re-assembling, and my most recent acquisition - an SCX 10 (Honcho version). I'm out here in Colorado - Boulder specifically, and I'm into scale as much as trail driving/crawling.

Hi, new here and to crawling, but not to RC's.

I currently have a brushless Emaxx with some mild hop ups, it's capable of around 50-60mph. I use to have a 2.5 Tmaxx full aluminum with some other stuff but got tired of the gas and sold it.

Currently looking for my first crawler and think I've got it narrowed down to an Axial AX10.

Greetings. I am Hannes and from South Africa. New to scale 4x4 but have a Savage 25 for the fast stuff. I am busy building a new body out of styrene for it.

Hello all. I'm Kyle. Im one of the many, that didnt write anything on here when I first signed on a few weeks ago. I started a thread already too....... I've been into Crawling for a few years. I owned a gelande d90, and recently got a scx10. Digging the options with the axial. I did my first "styrene work" on with the scx. Check out the thread for updates. Thanks again to everyone for the great information.

cheers,
kyle

well im a newb to the rc crowd and i have a few questions for you guys. first off i havent got my kit yet. im having a hard time deciding what i want to get. i like the txt-1 and always have only i dont know much about it. im not looking for a crawler specificly. i am more looking for a trail rig that can have some speed to it. nothig really fast but i would like to be able to jump it occasinaly. i would like to put a esc in it but i cant find one for twin motors 27 turns at a resonable price ( under 100 bucks at tower hobbies.) the other kit im thinking of is the scx-10 with the honco body. i like the desing and simplicity of it plus the ability to add my own electronics. but i dont think it will make me happy. what do you guys think. any help would be appreciated.
thanks.

ps i have seached this site. for about 3 days now. looking for sme awnsers and this site has a lot of information. i just havent found the info im looking for.

Hey all.

I think I've had a previous user name on this site that I used for significant research purposes. Alas, I seem to have forgotten the login information, so I've created this new one. Reason being:

I finally got around to putting in more work on my first crawler. As you can tell from the pictures, it's not yet done. However, as of today, it's finally a rolling chassis and the front wheels spin in conjunction with the rears. I've been interested in 4-link suspension design so I wanted to design and build something on my own.

Surprisingly, it seems to work pretty well so far, based on rolling it around by hand and "driving" it over obstacles. I took it down my spiral stair case and it seems to have really nice vertical characteristics. You'll probably notice its a lot longer than most of the other rigs around here. It was intentional, I assure you. The long rear links seem to give it good reach over objects. It'll probably end up helping to get me stuck on stuff  I haven't really seen other suspensions designed like this, but I have a hunch it will work and rather than take someone's word on "that's the wrong way," I'd rather see it for myself firsthand so, whatever. We shall see what happens when I get all the electrics situated. I have all the components, the last outstanding "long pole" to overcome is mounting the steering servo over the front axle, which I hope to complete in the next day or so. I'm getting anxious to drive this hog!

Long-winded first post but :flipoff: Excited to be here.

newbie question

Hello everyone,

Two things on the ax90011 (scorpion)
Seems like the steering is super weak, i've read that the parts are very flexible, would a stronger servo make more of a difference (I plan on running stock linkages etc... until they break).

How much weight should go in the front wheels? would 1 -2 layers of solder wire be a good starting point?

Thanks,

Newbie to Crawling in the Wilmington DE area

Hey all,
