Been looking for this kinda introduction thread, and finally found it today. I'm very new to RC crawling, but been doing the 1:1 thing for years. I was kinda into the RC trucks many years ago, but after talkin to a few folks from here on a game I play everyday, they all kinda talked me into gettin back into it some. Since I'm an offroader, the crawler aspect of RC is the only way to go. I went ahead a while back and pre ordered an AX10 from RCP because it looked like it would be a good rig to start with, but I've still got a little ways to go on gettin it completely set up the way I want it. I will be here mostly reading along trying to learn some stuff, because I am slowly starting to realize that I know absolutely nothing about RC anymore.

mmmm rockcrawling good

Yea, I'm jumpin on the ax10 bandwagon. I hope to see mine this week and start messin things up. This is gona be a sweet hobby, just hope it doesn't get as expensive as my 1 ton 4 runner crawler..."thumbsup"

newbie has entered the forums .... lol

Hey there,

Figured this was the safest place to post in that " I have arrived " at the site.. ROFL.

Anyways, just starting thinking about a "next" RC model to get and work on and after shrugging off the idea about another nitro (onroad) or maybe a truggy ..... I think I may have settled on "creating" a crawler. They look to be a lot of fun.

I have done some searching on google for different chassis options, done lots of searching of posts on here... lets just say... HOLY #### there is a LOT of options and information and LOTS to learn!! I can't believe the number of choices for everything.

For a first crawler I was considering going the HPI Wheely King route OR the AX-10 Axial route. Those two choices look to be about the cheaper way of getting into crawling. I would have liked to start with just a chassis and piece it together as I go, but for now I would probably end up sticking with the WK or AX-10.

Question: How does each model compare for "mod-a-bility"? How far can you go in customizing each model with option parts? How interchangeble are the parts?

I'm not looking to build for competition, just looking to have a decent enough rig for bashing, without having any limitation of " just-a-kit "... kinda thing.

thanks! cool site btw .. love all the pics!!

im new... posting like the thread name tells me to...

hi, name's jared, i live in the middle of nowhere (duvall, WA)

i just converted my Traxxas Rustler into a rock crawler/monster truck-type thing:shock: by building myself a TVP chassis and buying some TLT-1 axles (among other things) and well thats pretty much it.

the rustler body doesnt look good until it's comp-cut 8)

Missed this thread till now.

Hi. I'm Cody from Gardena/Compton, CA. I race 1:1 Cars, Quads, and Trucks. I've been driving RC Cars for 7 years now (Not your basic little cars).. I currently Run a Modded AX-10, which is soon to most likely get a new chasis... and I'm working on a 2.2 Scale crawler/Basher.

I'm DJ I have been lurking here for awhile, I am planning on building a crawler some time soon, something I can mess with when my pig is down, and while we stop for lunch and hopefully this will be at leat cheaper too!

Hi I'm Bailey,

I was 7 when my dad got me into rock crawling. "thumbsup"

Forrest Falls was my very first competition. And then Jason let me compete in the Nationals.

I beat my dad, franky rizzo, and clown boy.

My name is James and I have been lurking here for months. I was pretty big into nitro for a few years but since I was moving to Key West and there arent any hobby shops down here I sold it all. Then I got the itch to start a scale version of my K5 and once I saw the AX-10 listed on the front page a few months ago, I knew that would be my starting point. I ordered one last week and it should be here soon. It is going to be a very long process since I have to buy everything by mail.
