Diving into an optic

Take the tall clamp and slide the bottom surface across a fine metal file a few times until it fits better.
Mine were good. But that is what I'd do to tighten it up, like you said, it don't do much/anything but look good. so it may as well look right. lol

If I get a wild hair I might do that, that’s a good idea.

I decided I had enough with the leaking shocks. Put desert lizards on it, which I cannot stand them but they don’t leak. Can’t leak when there’s no fluid in them! Tried it multiple ways, with fluid and the long skinny spring setup, it was too stiff. Without fluid and the long skinny spring is pretty good for the optic. Time will tell but they are on and they aren’t half bad.

Now, I’m waiting on some lights that I will use for rock lights as there is a local night run coming up this weekend!

Ol optic did pretty well at the night run last evening. No broken parts or carnage. Climbed well, desert lizards seemed to do just fine. I’m always skeptical about them because previous rigs with them were terrible. Randomly unload, wouldn’t extend, etc.

Ran about 3- 2200mah batteries over the course of 3+ hours. I was moving a little faster so the speed was higher only providing about an hour of battery life. I will say this system is not efficient. My sons optic with a stock brushed system went about 2-1/2 hours on 1-2200mah 3s / just like mine.

Highly considering going back to a fusion system.

Didn’t get as many photos as I’d have liked too but had fun nonetheless! Before the night run I added rock lights in the rear for that extra razzle dazzle.

Decided to swap out the micro x and Holmes 10 shooter for a fusion pro. Just wasn’t a fan, not a hater but there’s a reason I have about 10 empty fusion boxes in my rc box collection of junk lol

More wires

Also update:

Desert lizards are terrible. I’m sure someone will say they are the best shocks yadda yadda but they are not. Worked fine out of the box and first run. Now they won’t retract when compressed. Ridiculous waste of money.

I really want some new shocks and get rid of these turds.

You may want to check out the new Reefs Shocks. They're a pretty good design, and Wyatt has been running them for a while with no leaks as of yet, per Wyatt at Reefs. heh
But they do look like a nice option and if they don't leak or don't leak very much, bonerus.

I’ll check em out. I haven’t seen those yet.

Traxxas GTS shocks. Can get take offs on eBay or Jenny's RC for reasonable price. Even reasonable brand new compared to other aftermarket shocks.

No leak, good quality balls and plastics, fit common Axial, element and VP springs.

Can reduce friction by playing a bit with the seal squeeze. I just saw today that Chingon had post about his AX10 turned comp truck where he talked about this on Traxxas shocks.

Took a look at them, I’m definitely interested in them. They look decent!

I like those too. Almost picked some up at the hobby shop. Just wasn’t sure about them. Might give a few options a try lol
