What did you do today?

Posted this in the wrong thread YESTERDAY: Today I get this text from my girlfriend: "Sooooo [coworker's name]'s girlfriend emailed me and can get us into SEMA this year. What about Vegas in lieu of Disney?" Uh hell yeah! Sign me up! (y)

TODAY: Me 2.0 is 25. That is, I had a heart ❤️ transplant 25 years ago today. Crazy...even to me being the one living through it! I lived 22 years on my OEM equipment and have been living 25 years on the LS swap.

Decided at 58, I'm getting too old to wheelbarrow 100 plus loads of dirt from my back yard to my front yard for my RC Track.
I go Wednesday to pick up a mini skid steer to make shorter work, much shorter work of that job.
Also got my area for my new Mechanical Room/Storage area racked out for depth. Now, I have to install the forms and throughs for the concrete (6in PVC pipe) so I can hopefully pour concrete over the next week. Preferably Tuesday after work maybe Wednesday.

Furnace took a shit on me in March, so I need to replace it. But I want to remodel my bathroom and moving the furnace and water heater out to a mechanical room will open me up about 14 square feet of floor space for the bathroom.

So I am also debating between just a 96% furnace, or a Heat Pump system with a Furnace Back up for those times it goes below 10* F.

Dad and I had our 1/16 Rally’s out today

Dad also broke his E-Revo 2.0

Back at my messy workbench. Finally finding some time to get back to builds and repairs. Today I'm replacing shock fluid oil and installing silicone inserts on my Ecto. Feels good to finally get back to wrenching on tiny trucks!

I like how one side of your bench is the scale garage.
Curious to hear your thoughts on the silicone inserts. I have some blues and greens but have yet to find a tire I like them in. Might try a set in the Yohohamas for shits and giggles.
A guy on youtube has inserted nerf darts into the gaps to tune them in. Other guys have severed selective supports. Also to tune them. I find silicone floppy feeling.

Worked for 10, ate, got a fatty in me, wheelbarrowed a lil more sand/clay mix to the track. Most of this was done yesterday and today.

I'll add some dirt between these 2 at the low to build it up a few inches and smooth out the transition between them.

Long look at the backside crossover jump/double to banked corner.

Will be doing more tomorrow after work to the table top In the upper left corner of this bottom pic.
Will be a TTT. Trapezoidal Table Top. lol

Having the scale garage is so convenient while working on the rigs. Wrench on them, then snap a pic and then post to RCC.:)

I love these new silicone inserts. I have a few different sizes in a few different tires. I was never one to vent tires because I didn't want water damaging my foams. Now with the inserts, I vent all of my tires.

On the Yokahama tires, I have yet to find the right size insert for them. Everyone I have tried has been to small in diameter or too narrow. I think they would be a good candidate for the inserts, but finding a set has been difficult.

Timmah man all of that is gonna be amazing.
I'll be adding some 'snow fence' on top of the tubes after I cover them over with dirt so they're not visible much. I have a bunch of snow fence I'll be cutting down to about 3 or 4 inches tall, and stake it down on top of the tube, going for the MX track look.

Hoping to get most of it done over the next few days. Not sure I need the Mini Skid Steer now. Once I move a dozen more wheelbarrows of dirt, my pile is going to be much smaller, and I need some of it to backfill around the new Mechanical room I'm putting in.

Made a trip to GA this evenin n met up with a pretty nice fellar. Traded my 01 yamaha warrior n a parts warrior, for an 06 ktm 620 dirt bike. Plan is to fix it up a bit n either sell it or trade it. Shootin for a harley.

After that, i stopped by a buddys house. We grilled some dogs, drank a few wobble pops, n sat around shootin the bull for awhile. Had a pretty good evenin20240713_120131.jpghc_1720919943220.jpg

Harvested the lead out of 2x35Ah wheelchair batteries, and poured some ingots.
Mocked up some tracks for a big toy im building.
Returned the $22 battery core for my Volvo and bought some fuel line to get LOLVO 2.0 up and running.

Man that Warrior brings back so many memories! In the early 2000's, my cousins and I were huge into riding quads. I had a 1991 Suzuki LT250R QuadRacer since I was a teenager in probably 1992. They got Warriors and we would go riding nearly ever weekend since our relatives had tracks and trails in their back yard.

Good luck with that KTM. Hopefully you can flip it for a good price.

Played on the trail in the woods. 11am headed home with the dogs in the back of the truck. A lady with 2 kids broke down. I went to the store and got them some water. Then the lady and I pushed the car out of the intersection. I left had to get the dogs out of the heat. It was approaching 90 at that point.
That was super nice of you! (y)

Didnt really want to get rid of it, but theres not really any place to ride around here, n ive only got an acre. When i was still up home, we'd have bon fires at my aunt n uncles on the weekends. We'd ride all over the country side, be gone til early the next mornin lol. Plan is to get the ktm goin n either sell it or trade it for a cruiser bike. Was goin thru the ktm today, found some cut wires n a blown diode. Cant find the diode anywhere in stock

No pics of anything but today a crazy old lady friend of mine asked me if I could help her shop for a new ( used) vehicle.

If there's one thing I hate with a passion, it's killing an afternoon at a car dealership. But she knows that two heads are better than one and that I have a lot of experience with all of this. Long story short, I got her into a 2020 Toyota Corolla, saved her $1500, and steered her away from some problematic vehicles and from some options on the Corolla that would have been unjustified ( like an extended warranty that would have only lasted two years but would have cost her an additional $70 mo. on a 5 year note). I had to involve the sales manager a couple times but you gotta play the game sometimes and I had no qualms about that.

In the end she was very thankful for my assistance and even broke down in tears. I just told her that if any problems that arise... don't blame me!
But seriously.. it felt good to help out... usually does.

Also I was able to get a $100 referral check, a free oil-change for my wife's car, and a couple sodas lol... so not a total waste of my day in that regard.

Hat tip to you good sir. Time is valuable and you helped a friend get into a reliable vehicle and she wasn't upsold any bells and whistles them dealers offer.
