SHV500 12v servo- you don't need a BEC!

i need a couple of these for my crawler with rear steering >:) i supposed it's possible to run off of a second battery? i run a cc bec pro with two outputs but i get a lot of power loss between three servos and a brushless motor. front steer, rear steer, and a shift servo

Better to use one larger pack IMO, unless you have no more room for a bigger main pack. Two packs is two times the charging and management hassle. I would recommend two packs running in parallel. It will split the load which is better for cycle life and easier to manage since both die at the same time.

Hey Jon
You should post this up on your You Tube Channel.
Along with the possible stress test and maybe if possible, a submersion test?? "thumbsup"

yeah i don't have room for a bigger battery. i have one 3s 2200 mah battery and i could run one more in the truck for servos and lights but i can't run a bigger battery. space is tight

I'll do my best. We have a long list of "to do" for the channel and I'm not helping by releasing new products this year!

Here we go..

Ok- simple newb question. How would using this servo affect a 2nd servo (eg. for adjusting a 2 speed transmission)? Will the internal ESC BEC still allow for a 2nd servo?

Not quite 4s capable, 4s is 16.8v charged. We couldn't make it powerful and reliable on both 3s and 4s, so it was designed for only 3s use.

How many people run 4s packs? I would be willing to change some components to unofficially make it 4s capable on the next batch.

I run 4s exclusively on my Yeti. Need a servo upgrade for sure and would gladly buy one of these if i knew it wouldnt fry on my 4s battery. i like that you dont need all that BEC crap. i bought a hitec 7954 servo ($90 on amazon), CC bec (another $20) and the castle link (another $20). annoying that you have to drop an extra $40-50 to get a $100 servo to work. i like your model much much better!!!

So whats the verdict? These durable? Seems they have the improved pin and gears. So does running direct from the battery make this a more durable servo than running the other HH 500 servo with BEC? I mean more in terms of potential durability/longevity. Obviously it is simpler to install and not having to deal with a BEC.

How will this servo run on 2S?

Ummmmm, People would need to know way too many things and still wont be able to give you a answer that will be accurate..
(mah, esc, motor, turns, truck weight, terrain ) with that many factors, no way to know.

One thing, Not nearly as much run as you will on 3S..

The ONLY thing 2S packs are good for is putting in series to make 4S packs :flipoff:

How will this servo run on 2S?

If you make a ROUGH guess on how the torque decreases from 14 to 11.1v, it should do at least 390oz/in at 8.2v. This is presuming a linear decrease, but its probably a curve instead so it could be either more or less.

The ONLY thing 2S packs are good for is putting in series to make 4S packs :flipoff:

I have a saying, there are 2 types of people: people that run 3S and p***ies.

sadly i just had a splash of water on my ProTek RC 170T and it's gone for good. gonna pick one up to try it out. good thing about this new servo is coated pcb at least it can get a splash and keep going I was out from the crew in NY this weekend. yeah ask away if I was mad. my TorqueMaster BR Mini Dual ESC was intact.
