Optic Kit Coming

My alieexpress third members came in from china today. The same day i got my plastic versions from vanquish. USPS is something else.

Anyway, they look pretty good. Minor machining marks on them but not too noticeable unless you look at them close. The finish is nice. Ill maybe build an axle later to see how the fitment is.
Mine came today as well. About a week faster than I was expecting. I won't have time to mess with them until next week

So after a bit more research, the hobbywing 540l looks like it will fit. It is 57.8mm long, max is 58mm. They're 15% off on tower right now. Guess ill go ahead and buy it.

Ship Notifications on my axles and other order was sent early yesterday morning. Should be here Saturday, maybe Friday.
I see my VP stuff is in Detroit today and is set to be delivered tomorrow! Bonerous. Now I can start on the build, though I will likely keep looking for a different set of rims. The 2.2s I got are not what I was expecting (color wise). They're steel rims so I may just spray em with paint for now.

Got my Ali Express 3rd members installed today. The bearing holders have a nice fit but the tolerances on the pinion bearings aren’t as good. The diff bearings needed a slight press while the pinion bearings just kind of fall in with no resistance. The Ali 3rd members require shorter hardware for the bearing retainers but it is included. The assembled 3rd members are a pretty tight fit into the housings and it takes installing the screws to get them fully seated. The gears spin smooth once everything is assembled. Overall, the 3rd members are worth the $22 I paid for them.

I grabbed this on the Hobbywing sale.

Hobbywing QuicRun Fusion Pro FOC 2-in-1 ESC & Motor System (2300Kv)

I think this is what others are running yea? If not I can slap that in one of my 2.2 rigs if its too big for the Optic...

I finally got my "RTR" painted, Tamiya field gray (which is a green) with some weathering. I'll post up a build thread for this and my kit eventually.

Geez, that's some nice stuff.

I'm glad a model is back on the market that people are down to build up (very) nicely.

It seems that for a while the scale crawler world sort of stagnated. The Axial CJ-7 was the last nice release I remember, but even that wasn't very popular.

Killer color combo - that GREEN!

And lovin' the wheels - are they KNKs?

My Yoko RTR is due tomorrow, also going to do something different than use the stock decals...;)(y)

Im a damn fool for building things better than I should. lol I still use them, but not often enough to justify it. smdh.
However for my first Vanquish rig and build, I'd figured I'd keep it more higher quality build.
Not like most my other stuff isn't the same lol

You will need to grind/trim a little bit off the link mounting tabs on the skid but that is very easy to do.

Thanks!
Yeah they're Team KNK wheels, looks like they've discontinued them.

Yeah, the rear upper links need to be lengthened when running a front axle in the rear in order to clock the axle correctly. The standard rear uppers will have the pinion pointing down and the caster all wacky.

From my understanding the rear upper links need to be a bit longer for 4WS for some clearance. Or longer rod ends which I do have. But I figured my first VP build, I should do it up right.
Gotcha, I just used Traxxas rod ends. Worked nicely and already had em. Lol

FWIW on the carbon panel subject, I got a set in one of my kits and ended up selling them for $250. Someone on FB claims they got $400 for a set, and I had two people tell me they would pay up to $350. I one of the first sets I saw listed was for $500 and it wasn’t available very long.

Unfortunately for me I dig the optics so much that I’m planning atleast two builds here shortly. One for me, one for my older boy for sure and possibly one for my youngest.

I haven’t been interested in any new projects since the fordyce was released
