New Vanquish VRD Carbon

I was thinking the same thing. I may pull out the overdrive gears in the front portal and put in a standard set.

The transmission OD is 21% and the portals are 16%. I was thinking to swap the portal gears front to back. This should give a final OD of 5% (21% front-16 % rear). Does anyone know if this would work? I am looking more for trail driving.

Another option would be to get the 'standard' machined VFD T-case gears & bearing plates, reducing the T-case OD from 21%, down to (if I remember correctly) 4.5%. From what I can tell (based on physical appearance), there shouldn't be any weight difference, as the 'lightweight' gears are the main transmission gears. This combo should give a final OD that's greater than swapping the front/rear portal gears, but also lower than the kit final OD.

Try eBay, Jenny's RC, etc, for the 30T T-case gears & bearing plates.

That seems plausible to me

I ran the numbers through a calculator and it looks like you’ll be in the 4-5% range still.

That requires spending more money!:ror: My way cost me zero dollars!:)

So...essentially, a rock crawling fork lift (with a truck body, of course)? As strange as that might sound to some, actually sounds like a interesting idea to me.

If you build it, you could call it the Blackcat Descent

More like the "BlackCat Constantly Falling Over Because I'm An Idiot When It Comes To Drive Backwards"...lol

I wonder how close the geometry is to the c-channel vs410 chassis in terms of anti-squat/anti-dive as well as roll centers. That's one of the things I like about the 410 chassis, my straight axle setup climbs amazingly well with hardly any torque twist...better than I've been able to get my 'LCG' comp chassis' to do with similar axle setups.

Not sure if this is what I think it is, but rippermachinist (VP James) just posted a new vid on the Gram.

I wonder if it is a sneak peak of the new Stance body that is listed in the VRD Carbon manual as an option part!?!?!;-)

Well, damn! I was going to post a screenshot of it, but now RCC is telling me that my picture upload "quota" is full. And I see that I have lost my GOLD STAR! What the hell!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll try to use Tapatalk to see if I can post the pics.

Here are the screenshot pics. Looks like I’ll have to use Tapatalk to post pics from now on![emoji2959]

It looks very similar to the Blue Body on the new redcat to me.

It also look very similar to the Cliffhanger.

Well, the Tuesday Live DID reveal the new Stance body. It does look good IMO! Much more pinched in the front than the big block of aluminum paper weight that rippermachinist carved out!

VP also introduced the CMS kit and the VFD stubby kit for the VRD. The CMS kit comes with the plastic BTA servo mount. There are also aluminum versions in black and clear available. The VFD stubby kit will work with the VFD and the VFD twin. All of these new products were added to the website available now.

I was very confused by the machined body… but now it makes perfect sense.

New body looks pretty good to me. Also the bta mount and stubby vfd kit are on my list to order

All on my list too and will eventually order when they are needed. I’ve never owned a stubby motor, so I’ll have to figure out what combo I want to use. Not wanting to put in an alien communicator![emoji1787]

I do like the body and will order one. Brandon’s looked really good painted up.

Here’s few pics of the new items for the VRD.

VPs new body looks great and with nice clearances, slammed should look great on the VRD you got. The bedsides detail look great, a bit too pinched in the front but it should allow for the most steering angle. I have a couple out-runners and while they have very good creep and low end they need to be paired with the right esc or else you will be reaching for some intergalactic comunication. :ror:

Exactly! No need to call in anymore aliens!:ror:

I agree on the pinch. I'd like a little less, but from what Brandon said, it was needed to give enough clearance up front. And yeah I also like how they designed the bed. Looks like it was borrowed from the Tamiya Hilux bed.

I like the the Stance body for what it is ; a decent looking comp body. It has the raised section in the hood reminiscent of the Origin hood design. I also particularly like the detailing around the outer edge of the bed. I guess they are meant to look like gussets?

The new stubby kit for the VFD spec is nice as well. I do look forward to building my first true line slayer based on the carbon. It's great to see all the attention to detail with the option parts.

VP's Tuesday night Live has been excellent. I enjoy hearing perpectives from all of the guys in on the projects.

Definitely feel like you get a little behind the scenes look during the live stream.

I was just telling Fricker08 that I wish vp would make a Capra width f10 portal, and it came up naturally during the live stream. Really hoping they follow through on that.
