Ballistic17's Vrd Straight axle

Lovin' how this rig is looking!💯 Nice winch mount from Cliff McCrawl! I definitely have to get on of them for my VRD.

Just got this VRD B-kit cuz yours looks so good! Think a 58mm long motor would fit or will it have to be a 540 size?

Just curious - why would you want to switch to carbon?

Also - by looking can you tell if there's enough room for an additional 5mm of motor length?

Thanks

Not really sure. I got them for a good deal so figured why not.

I'm not running a full length motor. Running a Holmes Hobbies out runner. So I have a lot of room behind mine.

OK - thanks. I'm just a couple of days from motor fit so I'll see then. The wheelbase is a bit longer than the VS4-10 so I'm hoping that extra length found it's way to the motor space!!

The transmission is what limits your motor size since the motor sits between the motor plate and transmission. What motor are you trying to use?

Carbon fiber is lighter than aluminum. Removing sprung weight helps with performance. That amount will not be a night and day difference, but still beneficial.

I have a 540 that will fit for sure but I also have a 550 (58mm in length) that I would like to use. But I don't want to hack anything up to get it to fit. What you are saying is that the extra wheelbase length probably didn't lengthen anything but the wheelbase itself. Oh well, that just means I'll have to build something else to put my 550 to use. Darn, another build!

Well surprised the sh*t out of me - the 550 fit with maybe 2mm of clearance between the end of the motor can and the VFD transmission housing. Well, that makes the the next build easier since it will use the 540 motor instead of having to use the 550. VRD Carbon perhaps?
