my TT build thread........

weight is 8.2 lbs with a 12.25" WB....i'm gonna add a chevy type push bar on it after this G6 weekend GTG planned in my area.........bob

....

yeah it does look like one huh, it is just a 3/8" bearing brazed to the end of 3/8" brakeline "thumbsup" ....started putting some color on stuff, went with dark blue and yellow almost like the napa colors....frame, rollbars and bumpers are yellow with the body blue....i have some texterd paint i'm using as bed liner and under coating "thumbsup" should have pictures by monday/tuesday after a few warm day here in no east PA.......bob

....

added some color and got the bed pretty much done, even did it up with a textured bed liner....

i also made some link brackets to mount to the axle tubes for link and shocks.........bob

....

oh i'll have finished pic's coming soon....just need to finish wheels wells on the cab and shock mounts then full assembily and color "thumbsup" ........bob

....

WOW...I love looking at these builds from start to finish....impressive fab work, ESPECIALLY considering what appears to be the small work area, as well as small tool collection."thumbsup"

I love that you stretched the wheel wells to make the tires not look too oversized, my only complaint about it now, is the cab looks very squaty and out of proportion. It would probably be difficult to have stretched and raised it some...but other then being a "tiny head on a huge body" it looks great.;-)

I can only strive to be as good at fab work as you."thumbsup"

i'm sure when the inside is done with driver "wild willy" it will look better....on the ground movin it looks fine, plus with color should help too "thumbsup" ........bob

....

not bad for the leaf's i had on it without shocks, but it was limited in flex and by days ends the frame was sitting on the axles....could use some extra height anyway, that's why i'm going to link set up but can switch to either set up easy.......bob

....

after running the leaf springs and not liking them and no flex....i went with a link set up instead, but i'm using a ladder bars for the lowers front and rear....started with some .144" solid rod and .060" steel material and a design....

TT123.jpg

worked some of my MacGyver magic with hand tools and after they were brazed up, now i have ladder bars....

TT124.jpg

just need to thread them with 6-32 threads for my rod ends....just not sure if i'll go with upper 3 link set up or panard bar yet....gotta see what room i have to use after i get my shock mounts made and mounted to frame with shocks, stay tuned folks "thumbsup" ..........bob

....

Awesome work, Bob! 8)

Your extreme attention to detail and the fact that everything is handmade tell me that you have a lot of spare time. This thread inspires me to get back to work on all my unfinished projects.

well i had to ditch the ladder bars as they didn't allow any articulation up and down from side to side, just up and down together for both tires....in the process of 4 linking the diff's....
but i have my shocks hoops done and just need to drill frame holes to mount them....took some 1/4" tube and bent 4 into a V shape, drilled a 2.5mm hole to thread it in 3mm to braze in a screw for the top shock mount....

TT125.jpg

i also notched out a flat spot on the back side to braze on some .060" steel for frame mount holes....

TT126.jpg

front mount will use one hole from motor mount plate....

TT128.jpg

rear of frame has to get drilled for holes yet....

TT127.jpg

shocks in place to see where they'll ride

TT130.jpg

TT129.jpg

just need some more steel material to make some threaded brackets that will go inside the frame channel that will be threaded for screws where ever i need them....that way i don't need to mess with trying to get nuts behind the frame rails to mount stuff, thx fer looking once again folks "thumbsup" .........bob

....

Hey bob your building is going awesome!!! I really like the way you make all your parts by yourself!!! You have magic at your hands!!! Like the yellow chassis and the shocks hoops looks great!!!
Keep making these nice parts; they are a good inspiration sir!!!
El Vasco!!!"thumbsup"

shock hoops, links, upper link truss are gonna be red like my tool box is....thinking maybe doing the U-bolts red as well.........bob
