my TT build thread........

i'm bout to order styrene for the clod body....going with a drop bed that is seperate from the cab, plus i'm stretching the WB from 10 3/4" to 13" and adding bout 1 1/2" to the width of it also to cover the 2.2 tires better also with fender flares too....that way it won't look like a 1:1 truck with 54" tires :lmao: .........bob

....

moving along slowly folks and made up some spacers and got them threaded and polished, cut the shafts to length and presto a finished transfer case "thumbsup" ....

TT25.jpg

overall size of it is 1.5" L x 1.0" H x .750" W and weighs in at 1.928 oz....

DSC02253.jpg

i held the plates between my fingers and spun one of the shafts, it spun freely for bout 5 rpm's after i let it go....can ya say smooth as butter "thumbsup" ........bob

....

no i didn't sorry....but all it is, it's made from is 1" x 1/8" thick alum plate stock cut to 1.5" long, drilled the shaft holes to the center of the gears i'm using which are .8 mod/32p pinion gears....cut down some axial links/threaded alum pipe and threaded where they needed to be....wait till ya see the motor plate tranny combo i have planned "thumbsup" ......bob

....

Sweet looks good can't wait to see more are there bearings in the t-case. And how do the drive shafts mount up to it

yeah i'm using 5x8x2.5mm flanged bearings....the shafts are 5mm dia so any 5mm bore drive shafts will work....the only thing i need to do is make flats on the shafts, then it is truely done then ;-) .........bob

....

did up my trans/motor plate unit and i think it came out pretty good....started with 1" x 1.5" x 1/8" alum plate for the trans half and 1.5" x 4" x 1/8" alum plate some screws, bearings and shafts....

TT26.jpg

all together with motor in place and all metal no plastic anywhere to be seen....

TT27.jpg

bout where it will sit in the frame....

TT30.jpg

the 1/16" alum plate on the front of frame needs the ends bent up to bolt to the frame sides to hold the servo gear driven winch and steering servo....just need a part to finish the winch.........bob

....

for the motor slide holes, nope by hand with a drill press and file....

here's my work shop  :lmao: ....

DSC02131.jpg

same with the spacers, filed them flat and tapped them 3mm "thumbsup" ........bob

....

That's great man inspiration to every one no matter what u have u can make a great rig. Thanks for posting "thumbsup"

all that crammed on a 2 ft x 4 ft table in a 8 x 10 metal shed with no heat and an extention cord for power :lmao: "thumbsup" .......bob

....

well i started the fab work on the body....

TT31.jpg

got it cut so i have a cab and bed now....

TT32.jpg

then laid out the next cut lines to extend the body's wheel base to 12 1/2" from the 10 3/4" it is stock....

TT33.jpg

i'm making the body's wheel wells fit the size of the tires better so it won't look like a 1:1 truck with 54" tires on it....also going to have fenders flares on it also....still thinking bout adding an 1" to 1 1/2" to the width of the body also so the axles track width isn't out of scale also....just need some styrene for the body work yet........bob

....

Another subscription here, Very nice work! Splitting the frame rails with the drill press is a great idea!

no pic's or updates as of yet, but only to say stay tuned folks....as i have ordered 800 bucks in parts to get this thing moving faster then i have so far, along with my tubed framed PRO 4 SC truck "thumbsup" .........bob

TT35.jpg

TT36.jpg

set the winch servo bout where it will sit once i fab up the frame plates to hold it and the gears, spool....

TT37.jpg

set the cab on some blocks to get an idea how high/low to mount it on the frame, plus to get some numbers for interior size....

TT39.jpg

TT40.jpg

stay tuned as the parts roll in and i get this build rollin down hill..........bob

....

made a cross member for the frame today, i went with a tube cross member instead of C-channel....drilled a 3/8" hole in the frame rails and used 3/8" trans line and brazed it in....

TT42.jpg

TT41.jpg

after i brazed the cross member in the frame it was square, flat and the same width front to rear  :lmao: ....here is pic's of the front and rear leaf's....

TT44.jpg

TT43.jpg

bout where the body will sit, not sure of the height yet....

TT45.jpg

TT46.jpg

those tires/wheels are from my SC build, wheels for this truck are in da mail now....these tires are 4.6" tall and the tires i'm using are 4.70" so not much difference in the two.........bob

....
