My Berg Rebuild

You do the right way Ashton

... where do you have bought the name decals?

Dieter

Bowtie made them for me. Here is a thread that shows some of his work. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=221885
He does a great job and his product is high quality.

I setup the artwork on my computer and I just sent it to him and he printed them out. He'll work with you so just send him a PM.

Let me know if you need any help setting up your artwork. I'll do it for you my friend :D ... I owe you one or two or three favors

"thumbsup"

This thread has been long over due for an update. This truck took 10th at Midwest this year and was undefeated throughout the entire Ark/La/Miss season. This is pretty much my setup for Nationals this year. There might be a few new things popping up here and there if I'm lucky.

Back in May his truck basically got a full rebuild including everything except the 4pk and axles.

list of new stuff:
Rockshow SS
Lunsford TI Rock Grinders 8650 & 8670
Axial Scaler Shocks
D Lux weights
Castle Micro Sidewinders w/bec
Hitec 7954sh outfitted with 7955tg gears (thanks Art!)
Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster 540 16t motors w/ *6 of timing
Mayhem Evo wheels Aluminum/Delrin 1.25"/1" widths
Crawler Innovations Khaos Hybrid tires belt-sanded with lugs removed
Crawler Innovations Memory foam outers

Here are a few pics.

Like I assume it has for many others, Christmas has come early. I was happy to see the mailman drop of a box from Crawler Innovations today that included some VP goodies and some new foams. I guess I'll find out about some 8* kingpin inclination and it's benefits soon enough.

I've been happy with the 8* knuckles so far. I do think they allow the rig to "push" more than with the non zero ackermann setup. It hasn't been a real problem...just something I've noticed. I think you've seen them, but I just threw on a set of the Block tires and I'm glad to see you have adjusted your suspension setup essentially the same way I did...regarding the shocks anyway.

I do like those panels too!

I didn't exactly do it just for tires. I did it for the course that I was running at the time. It depends on how many side hills there are versus break overs. For me having them in that spot makes it to where you have to work a little harder to get over break overs, but at the same time it lowers the Cog significantly to allow for some mean sidehill action.

thanks for the input, Ryan "thumbsup"

Glad your parts arrived safely. The 8* VP stuff is the $&@% for the berg. Night and day difference. Just make sure you put the c's with enough caster back.

Thanks again, Eddie. "thumbsup"

I'm a little nervous about drilling into my CCD tubes, but I suppose as long as I drill one hole at a time and set it with its bolt I should be ok.

In a perfect world I wouldn't have to re-drill but since these only come with 10* of caster I may have to.

Would you mind explaining what is so good about them? Or, can you give an example of something you would not have made without the 8* setup?

We have noticed quite a few times we "think" the 8* is hurting the car.

i am really curious why you think it hurt the car? was it the 8* or something else?

i am not challenging you just curious.

i dont think there would be a situation where one equiped with the 8* units would pull anything that one not equiped could...

the 8* units with some added castor should make manuverabilty a bit better...

also wheel offset is going to play with that scrub radius as well.

The only thing that comes to mind for me is that when you turn full lock it raises the truck rather than lowering one side which might help in cresting a ledge or breakover...or clearing a "nub" that has the front axle just barely hung. I hope that makes sense.

How much additional castor are ya'll thinking you should run with these 8* knuckles? Is 10* not enough to get the benefits?

Well it looks like I won't have to re-drill my tubes to get the same caster. whew! :ror:
