Its a Berg THING, You wouldn't understand. By jcboof UPDATE!!!!!

Re: Its a Berg THING, You wouldn't understand. By jcboof

LOL!! Ready for my rears yet?? Would love to have them done before the US Indoor event."thumbsup"

Yeah I can do them whenever, are you still wanting to use xr lockouts?

XR lockouts?? Didn't know you could do that. I was planning on using AX10 lockouts, but if I can do XR lockouts, they seem a little beefier.

Re: Its a Berg THING, You wouldn't understand. By jcboof

Now shrink it back down to 12.5" WB and try it again

LOL!! Its set EXACTLY at 12.5", but if a REALLY picky tech guy looks at it, he might spend a bit of time making sure it is right. I might shorten it 1/32" just to be safe! :ror:

Sorry, I meant ax10. But for grins I just tried an xr lockout and I think it would be too short.

Just a note, I'll be teching your truck from now on...with 14" calipers for accuracy :ror:

Looks good man. Hope to see it in Michigan soon.

Go for it! I'm confident you won't find it out of spec. :flipoff:

Just got word that my 3/16 aluminum should be in tomorrow! I'll be making some new upper links for the truck. I'm currently running some steel uppers made out of 3/16" drill rod and I figure I'll lose about 2oz of weight my switching to the aluminum uppers! I'm throwing the idea around about switching to aluminum hardware on all non load bearing screws in the truck. Shock and link mounts will stay stainless but all chassis screw for bolting the can and spacers. I might lose an ounce but not sure if it's worth it.

I'm also considering gun drilling the rear tubes after I get them turned down to lose a little more weigh but I'm scared that they would not be strong enough.

Shock and link mounts will stay stainless

At least go with black oxide steel. Lighter than stainless and less apt to bend into pretzel shapes. Or Titanium if you want to really be BALLER status.

Gotta order some from McMaster here soon. I'll be ordering some Ti to make some lowers too! Not spending the moolah on the Lunsfords, I'm a poor boy.

Put about 6 more packs through it tonight! Man, I'm beatin up on this thing!!!! LOL!! My motors were freshened up two weeks ago and I probably have around 25-30 packs through them already. Time for a cut and new brushes again!! These 35T Skewed arm Torquemasters are NICE!!!!!

I'm slowly learning the limits of this truck and the changes I made. It is very predictable and has not left me wanting more yet.

I should have my new parts tomorrow and I'll get some pics posted up along with a full disclosure on the changes!

Don surprised me and is sending me something else really cool too!!

No check:ror:
Having the opportunity to be on his team and help him test and develop some really awesome products is more than enough for me! Since I've known Don, he has always been a super cool guy to deal with, and now that I have a chance to help promote and support his products, I'm going all out!!

I'm really glad I decided to get back into things. When I took a break, I really had no clue how long I'd be gone. But with the great group of friends that I crawl with up in Michigan, it has been like I never left.
Most importantly, getting involved with BWD has really revived my love of the hobby.

Indianapolis should be a blast! I've always like crawling at the Rox Box and I haven't been there since Midwest last year! I'm definitely going to make sure I'm ready for this event."thumbsup"

Got a package in the mail today:twisted::twisted::twisted:

Well wouldn't ya know, Don surprised the heck out of me on this one!!!!

This Thing is gorgeous!!!!

Don really went out of his way to make this one special!! Chassis is LIGHT!!!!!! I weighed it after mocking it up and it weighed in at 1.6oz! After the cab is mounted which is made from 1/16" delrin, that should ad about another .7oz with the added hardware as well. I'm hoping that this complete chassis with all hardware weighs in at less than 3oz!"thumbsup"

The skid has also been completely pocketed for more weight savings and the battery and electronics trays have been strengthened as well.

I also got some material in today to make a set of 3/16" upper links. I decided on aluminum because of the luck that a lot of other members here were having with it. I know its not as strong as titanium but it is a big lighter. My 5.25" rear aluminum links weigh in at 8 grams with Revo rod ends and steel balls. They are threaded to 10-24 thread pitch.

Re: Its a Berg THING, You wouldn't understand. By jcboof

Now, I suppose all you guys are wondering what the big change on the chassis is.

Like I have said several times earlier, You have to look VERY closely to see the difference. Besides the obviousness of the carbon fiber chassis and the fact that I don't have my cab mounted on the chassis yet. Can anyone tell the difference??????

It makes setting the truck up easier, it makes the truck more stable, it lowers the roll center of the chassis, it provides better shock mounting position.

Hint.... The chassis sideplates are identical to the original version.

Ok, what I'm going to do is for the first person to correctly guess what the change is, I'm going to make them a set of 4 custom length 3/16" aluminum uppers links!! My little giveaway to someone who is paying attention! "thumbsup"

I've already cleared this with the mods and i'm not planning on making any more for people. These links are NOT for sale."thumbsup"
Also, to those who i've already spilled the beans to, you don't count in this giveaway! And yes, I know who you are!!! LOL!!!:flipoff:

Well it's got to be the skid plate then.

Less triangulation of the lower links!
