H10 Origin

I say that just because the Ripper had an aluminum trans housing, but much simpler 3gear. Maybe a machined delrin would be the ticket? Maybe my lotto tickets will come through with 6 out of 6. 🤣
The Ripper didn't include any transmission. Most, if not all, were built with a vp case, but that was an add on by the owner.

The Ripper only had an aluminum housing if the builder put one in it, as it didn’t even come with a trans…
It was designed around SCX10 frame rails and components so it would conform with Axial’s rule set to be allowed into Axialfest events. It made sense to use a matching VP anodized trans housing at the time but I saw some with stock Axial plastic ones as well…

Ahh, I stand corrected. I only remember seeing aluminum housing in pictures, let alone trying to distinguish what was real and what someone said in the comments... I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in person.

Ripper was CNC Cage and Panels ONLY. everything else was what it went on.
So whatever SCX10.2 type kit you had is what you put the Ripper Cage and Panels on>
SSD Trailking would have been my kit to put one on if I ever found a NIB Ripper Set.

ON a side note, this happened a bit ago.

The only Vanquish kit that did come with an aluminum Vanquish transmission case was the VS4-10 Origin Limited with choice of clear or black.

They’re a thing of beauty, I regret getting rid of mine now. Put me in a bit of a Rc funk when I did tbh

I looked at it. However, the price made me reconsider. I would buy the kit, and the grey rtr cage (needs RIT sapphire blue dying) and some of their alloy axles and I'd be as happy as a clam.

The original Rippers are going for $6-10k depending on condition and colors. In a few years these could be too. Thats is how i am justifying it. Art/investment.
I wish you the best of luck there then.

There's a shit ton of alloy emaxxs still floating around the ebay for penny's on the dollar today.

Have you seen how well "they" are able to copy anything you have, and then sell it at a fraction of the cost?

I was a little surprised you sold it so soon.

"Shit Ton" is part of the reason they are so cheap. There wont be many of these.

Threes not that much plastic on it really. maybe a bit more than could be, but I don't see them as bad use or should have been cnc'd. Though I will say, Machined Tranny housing would have been apropos for the pennies in.
Front bumper, Center Dash, Fuel Cell, Tranny housing, Skid and the Rod Ends not on the Hydro Ram, so there isn't Much plastic left.

And I can see why they didn't do the 3 main center parts CNC'd
1. Up High Weight would raise COG with the Bumper and Center Dash structure if done in billet.
2. Increased manufacturing cost, thus selling costs, for something that is more negative than positive beyond the bling factor.
3. Aluminum skid would help lower COG back down a little, but we all know plastic slides better and the rest of the cage will catch here n there so a plastic skid will help keep it sliding over the rough stuff.

I don't see it as THAT Much out of the world, but It was RIGHT at the top of my limit. I almost certainly would not have been froggy at 4g or more.

I will add, machined Rod Ends Throughout would h ave also been apropos for the cost.

So to summarize, you kinda of agree with me that there's too much plastic for $3,500! 😁

I wish I was in a position to buy one myself. It’s easy to scoff at the price, but most people that are into the hobby probably have that much wrapped up in 3 or 4 RTR’s with a couple of upgrades…

Compared to the cost of the original ripper kit plus high end parts typically used to build it, this really isn’t much of a jump in price.

I have no real value to add to the thread, just know I’ll be jealous of everyone that gets one

Im not disagreeing. lol Only a fool would say no to more for the same cabbage. lmao

Think I have the rest of the stuff to make the H10 Origin mobile,
Expect 2 things, Tires and an RX for my radio.

Just ordered

CMV3 ESC and 3000KV 10pole HH combo ordered.
Few bypass looms if I need them.
Scale Bolts for the wheels in the GR8 (goldy color) and some RC4WD bolts in black for those exposed areas.
Battleborn BL rings in black and IFR Deltas in Raw.
Set of TiNit shock shafts and machined pistons as well.
Set of Brass Clamp rings for the wheels
475 Brass hubs 1 pair.

And 4 Jack stands because WTF Not. smfh.

These were split between VP, RPP, Amain, and Holmes websites.

Most of this stuff will probably be here by Friday or Saturday this week, but my Origin, well, I just have to wait and see about that.

There's a bit of a difference. An alloy e maxx is going to be something that was built from aftermarket parts and no doubt there would be alot or machine hours to make it happen, but it's not going to be the same as if Traxxas were to build their own alloy e maxx from the ground up.

Another way that I think about it is modified cars vs oem performance cars. I like using Porsche as an example because there are some similarities with die hard Vanquish fans in terms of collectbility and perceived value. Yes, people have built base model 911s that can outperform the GT3RS, but the modified 911 wouldn't likely hold it's value compared to a GT3RS over time.

The H10 Origin's appeal is that it all comes as one exclusive/limited package from Vanquish themselves. The brand image is worth something to a lot of enthusiasts vs having a collection of aftermarket parts from lesser known companies. I said in the other Optic thread that this is really meant to showcase what Vanquish as a company can do when they dedicate a good chunk of their resources and machine hours on one main project. Frivolous, sure, but totally awesome at the same time.

Cool. I'm a Machinist by trade and can run both manual or cnc, so after pricing it out with axles and such, to me it doesnt price out! I'd rather have a glassblower make me one from crystal to set on a shelf at that price!!!!!!! If I'm going to run it I'd find someone who is a skilled artist and weld/braze me one from SS or Ti.

The machined cage is not worth the price in my feeble mind.

I hope you guys show off your shit around here. I look forward to seeing a few of the various flavors. It’s a stunning kit. The hood and grill design really sets it off imo.

As much as I enjoy my H10, the alu axles will be my big spend. Hopefully VP gets around to producing them again. Been sitting on a clear front awhile waiting for a rear and some third members. It’s a good thing I am too busy to be staring at my incomplete parts pile.

I probably won't do a thread since I won't really be doing anything to it aside from the build, but I'll share pictures for sure. This is probably a rig I won't post about at all in fb groups.

I gotta finish up the Jimmy's buggy before I even think about touching the origin. It might be a bit with the pace I've been moving on that project. Lol

I think it is worthy of its own build thread even if you build the Origin 100% like the manual. There won't be many builds at all on here so it would be nice to see.
