Dingo Body needs.... something.....???

Yeah, funny that I should joke around???

My H airbrush split a ring right at the same time my compressor lost
top end shut off........

Im totaly shot now, and I actually smoked the compressor
rings to get this stupid Dingo body painted?

What a kick in the teeth!

This hobby sucks ASS......

Im getting out of it as soon as I get me that new
Axial EXO dune buggy, and them 15 other rigs I swore
to myself I would never buy LOL!!!!!! :flipoff:

But to get more to the point, I have to let the extra moisture
caused by the overtemp compressor/tank/air time to cure within the paint.

Then I can white-over and back-black it, but its going to need a bunch of extra cure time.

People are losing interest in this build anyway.

Best I could hope for is they are neck-deep in their own, and possibly first,
Styrene or casting extras projects!!!!

Got a bit more done this afternoon.

Nothing is screwed down, just set in place so I could grab a few quick pics
and let everybody see how the color came out,
so excuse the loose fit and finish of the parts.

Im pretty happy with the color,
and I think it matches the LR pale green fairly well.

Still have a TON to do tho....

Im sort of stuck on how to glue the grill and lens kit on the front,
so if anybody knows a good way to thin out ShoeGoo, let me know.

I tried mixing it with some lacquer thinner, and although it was tuff
to get it to mix it seemed to do well on the lexan test piece
I set up.

I just dont know how well that mix will work with the thin styrene
diamond plate I wanted to use on the hood and fenders...
might melt it and make a hell of a mess to try and get off.

Anyhoo, heres the pics....

Sorry for the blurry last one, just wanted to show how the light comes through the kit marker sticker.
But I had to hold my flashlight behind the body and hold the camera
still without the flash, so I couldnt use it to shine on the outside
to get my auto focus to work right...

Looking really good Cog...that green looks great. And I love the gas filler!
For thinning shoe goo use Toluene (xylene should work too but I haven't tried it)

Thanks!

Any idea where I can get some of that Toluene?

Is that something I can get at Home Depot by the paint thinners???

Or maybe an auto paint store, I have one nearme too...

Sweet!

Ill head out tomorrow and try to pick some up.

I saw online just now that Xylene can be used in place of Toluene,
just like you mentioned. The even said to thin certain adhesives,
but that it takes longer to dry/evaporate.

Cant have that on the styrene diamond plate,
so hope I can find the Toluene.

Thanks a million times for the help!

I absolutely love that color! I wish I knew how to mix paint like that!

Something you may try (I've wanted to but haven't yet) is to spray the outside of the body with Tamiya flat clear...it's supposed to make it look like it was painted on the outside. I was going to try it but the LHS didn't have it and I was sick of waiting...

This is actually a very easy color to mix if you want to
give it a shot sometime.

Mix 4 parts of this biege:

TowerHobbies.com | PAR40008 40008 Parma FasBeige 2 oz

to 1 part of this green:

TowerHobbies.com | PAR40005 40005 Parma FasGreen 2 oz

then add either small amounts of white or black
to fine-tune the shade to your desired color.

TowerHobbies.com | PAR40000 40000 Parma FasWhite 2 oz

TowerHobbies.com | PAR40001 40001 Parma FasBlack 2 oz

I actually mixed white and brown to get my beige,
but it came out just like that Faskolor beige,
and I used Createx opaque green in my mix,
but thats much lighter than the Faskolor green I linked,
so I had to add some black to tone it down.

I think that 4 to 1 mix with those first two paint links
would get you this color without any other farting around.

All I really had to go by was a few pics like this,
that I found on the net.

But I have to admit, It came out better than I expected.
I had to factor in that its going to come out a tiny bit
darker after it dries, so I stopped a little short when I was adding
the black at the end of my mix.

Well I think this project just came to an unexpected end....

I got some of that Toluene to thin the ShoeGoo,
and tried to glue the grill on, but I used a tiny bit too much glue.

When I tried to get it off it just spread all over the front of the body,
and thats when I learned:

TOLUENE MELTS LEXAN!

This body is ruined, and I doubt seriously there is anything
I can do but try to minimize the damage,
but I dont think anything I can do will help much..........

Well that really sucks.
This was a great build with tons of detail. Is there any way you could patch it up and paint the outside of the body to cover it up. Would hate to see all that work go to waste.

Good luck.
