I love me these SCX kits. Hell, I have about a dozen now...
But I never did care for the Axial Dingo body.
It just always looked like it was missing something to me,
being an open-top tuber.
I guess because I am just north of Buffalo NY
in the Eastern coast snow belt, that anything without a heater
and a top on it just looks strange to me.....
So I set about to make it more "East Coast" looking.
My biggest problem now-a-days is picking colors for my new builds.
I am trying to choose colors I have not used before....
But I have a LOT of rigs, and most have several bodies,
so I mixed up some custom paint that the actual Defenders used.
(see paint chip pic, I am leaning towars the old school LR pale green,
or the black on orange tiger stripe I will post a pick of...)
I built a pickup style top for the dingo to fill it out,
but I know it does not have the slope-up towards the back like OEM.
I built it, and the doors/rear panel to snap in and out so
I can just change things around when I finally grow
the balls to buy a brazing tourch kit, and build a better roof rack.
I just didnt want a bunch of shoegoo holding it together....
The panel snaps and interior of the panels will be painted black,
so they wont be very noticible through the windows
against the black tube framing.
I also frabricated some PSP plate recovery ramps.
I hope to make moulds out of them to cast in resin,
because BELIEVE ME!, after making just the two
of them, I AM DONE farting around with them!!!
And I would like more for my other rigs.
I had to do them all by hand because I dont even have
one of those tiny table-top drill presses,
and my fingers hurt all the way up to the top of my shoulders!!!!
Anyway, wanted to get some input from the RCC members
about what I have done so far before I go any farther.
Let me know what you think, while I still have time to change things
to keep it as "scale" as possible, from people that know about such things.
Stock "NEW" Dingo kit with:
Axial CVD front axles
HS 645MG servo
Novak Rooster Crawler ESC
Integy 35t lathe motor
Spectrum DX2.0 radio
Lower links shortened by 3mm...
(because Axial cant read a ruler anymore, I guess?)
custom fit styrene wheel wells soon to follow.
Ill just dump all the pics in a row........
OH, and that tiger striped "LOOK AT MEEEEE" paint job I might do...
but Ill tell ya, that pale green LR color looks like a lot less work LOL LOL!!!
