Yeti XL Aftermarket Thread

Hell yeah! Master Chief rockin' in my Yeti XL! I'll buy that for a dollar! Wouldn't be too hard to mod and paint up one of the changeable driver helmets.

Today's upgrades hot racing upper links and mounts lower links and mounts. Hot racing axle truss and strait tubes. Hot racing front clip and front sway bar. Camber and steering links from 5 star machine. Last hot racing rear axle loc-tight on.

How is that HR front sway bar holding up?

2nded :) I'm considering getting one, but I don't have the alum bulkhead.

Do the alum rear upper and lowers bend at all? I really wish RPM would make some. Seems like a location that some flex would be a good thing.

Those 5 Star links look really nice. So does the HR front chassis clip.

I busted a top 4 link the other day after some shenanigans on a very large rock pile. I jumped the truck and heard a sharp "crack", and found it later when i noticed the truck was leaning down on one side.

Otherwise, I may just use the stock links again, the best setup might be aluminum mounts with plastic links. I'm not sure if full aluminum links would be best for me since one of the landings before hand was from 12 ft in the air straight onto the rear axle...

I only have one run on the new setup. The sway bar seems to be holding up nice so far. It really helps with the front end diving into a corner and rolling over. All the rear links seem to be working well it really took all the slop out out of the rear end. I'm very happy with all the upgrades. It is all a must have.

The important setup for the front sway bar is to level out the front a arms then tighten the set screws on the sway bar. That way the bar helps with downward movement and upward movement.

Very nice upgrades! Probably an old question but where can I find those 5 star links?

Look up that user name on eBay and ask them to make them for you. I bought them when they had them listed but they aren't listed anymore. They will make them in a day for you. Ask for the steering and camber links they also made me the link from the servo to the steering rack. It will be around $30 for all 5 links shipped.

This skid plate is new (to me at least).

I wonder if it makes the chassis less flexible. Honestly, I wouldn't mind a little more flex in the chassis. I wish RPM would make a chassis, lower and upper links, a-arms, and rollcage. RPM plastic seems to have the perfect amount of flex.

RPM....I WANT TO GIVE YOU MONEIS!

I'd like for some RPM links right about now. That skid plate though, is that "YETI" part seriously just carved out? Plus with those exposed screws, I don't see the point, I'd rather just keep scraping my plastic up.

I agree. That plate looks like it would get hung on something. For sure would have all kinds of dirt and grit all inside it. Just posting it up here because it was something I hadn't seen.

BTW, your videos are partially to blame for my YXL addiction and fear of cow trails.

When you seat the diff cup in and get the mesh right, watch for it rubbing on the pinion. Mine did and luckily the pinion is extremely tough and the HR diff is not so it started to grind a small amount away on the diff cup. I had to take it out and grind a little away to top it rubbing. Wasn't so bothered apart from all the aluminium particles that would have ended up on the grease.
