LJD RC's 10.3 Gladiator

Thanks for posting about those Injora wheels. I've been looking for an inexpensive wheelset for my Miller Motorsports truck, and will probably score a set of those.

Go for it man! They're super nice, they feel more like a set of $50-$60 wheels rather than $36. The only complaint I have is the shipping time. They ship straight from China, and it took a little over 2 weeks to arrive. They did get here eventually though, and nothing appeared to be damaged or tampered with. Best $36 I've ever spent.

Took it out for a test run at one of the local state parks with my parents, and it performed extremely well. I probably oughta mess with the suspension links a bit more, since I can definitely tell that they're still off by a bit. Other than that, it was definitely a fun day.

I've got a new brushless system coming in for it soon, I'm definitely excited for it. I've never actually had a brushless truck before, so I'm very interested to see how different it is from the normal brushed motor/ESC that comes in these. I will say that I'll be putting this truck (and all of my other projects) on hold after this comes in, as I've got other priorities I should probably be focusing on (I'll be getting my license soon and should probably save for a real truck instead of putting everything into my tiny trucks, lol). I miiight go for some new steel high clearance suspension links though... (I'm so tired of aluminum, I've got half a million metallic specks in each of my hands from handling the links from this truck to paint them).

I finally took it out for a spin, and good lord this thing rips. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect a brushless truck to move this fast. Does wheelies on 2s, and drags the rear bumper for 2 seconds on 3s. It does crawl really nice in low gear though, a lot better than it did. I just need to pick up a programmer to put a drag brake on it and it should be good to go. Maybe I should do the brushless conversion on some of my other trucks too... (this is my first brushless if it wasn't obvious lol).

For future reference, the Spektrum S6230 servo does not fit in the SCX10 III. Lol. I can't really complain, was a part that Horizon sent for free, but it's still funny.

Was going through some of my old photos and found some nice memories from this truck.

Christmas morning of 2021 when I got it. Still had my TRX4 back then, lol. I loved these two trucks together, they made a great duo.

My first Axialfest in 2022. Went alone with my dad, and only brought the Gladiator since it was the only Axial I had. Met some super cool guys one of the days and drove trails with them in a convoy for the whole day. Great times.

Back when I was in middle school I had a friend with a 2WD Slash. I was so excited to meet another RC guy, lol. That front bumper was my first mod, followed by the horrible Amazon winch. Ran it like that for a long time. Did my first overhaul around this time (rebuilt trans/axles).

Axialfest Badlands 2023. Finally had two other Axials for my parents to drive, had a great time. Made my third mod while I was there; some clipless body mounts from Fine Laser Designs. Would recommend, I still run them to this day and run them on 2 out of my 3 SCX3s (putting them on Moonlight soon). Extremely durable.

Got to bring it out to Acadia National Park last year, had a great time. I'd put the Holcombs on at this point, as well as a set of aluminum diff/center skids and a new front bumper. Also had some SMS traction boards on the back that I won at Axialfest '23. Had some brass extended hex hubs too, still have them on.

Back at Axialfest last year. Went with a friend of mine and her parents, had an amazing time. I brought my Gladiator, mom brought her JLU, and dad bought his Capra 4WS at the event. My friend drove her KOH Bomber, her mom drove a CJ-7, and her dad drove an OG Wraith. Can't wait for next year, this was a great time.

Fun shot at Cadillac Mountain at Acadia with my mom's JLU.

Was lucky enough to get to drive it around at Niagara falls on some of the rocks, was super fun. Beautiful place, I'd love to go back someday. I'm sure I've got more pictures somewhere, maybe I'll find them later. I love this truck so much, lol. It's never skipped a beat, not once. Not a single part on it has ever broken aside from the upper panhard mount that cracked while I was at Acadia (unless you count the driver mirror breaking off, lol), which is what prompted this build. Even with that part clearly being an extreme weak point, it still took around 2.5 years of daily driving, trail riding, crawling, and the occasional crash before it cracked to a point of being unusable. I've gotta admit, it lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. Definitely a keeper, I'll never get rid of it.

Like I said elsewhere, there’s something cool and nostalgic aboutabout Axials and their Jeep bodies. Hopefully they get their act in gear and give us a new 1/10 truck soon.
