Well, I had this nice boot review all written up, and it's only 970 characters long, yet vB is telling me it's over 12,000

Anyway, here's a short and simple version

Went to Boot Barn to check out some new boots. Here's my review of what I tried on

Chippewa 8” Logger
Final Result- 4/10

Georgia Boot 8” Work Boot
Final Result- 5/10

Georgia Boot Georgia Giant
Final Result- 7/10

Timberland Pro Barstow Wedge
Final Result- 9/10

Timberland Pro Endurance
Final Result- 8/10

Timberland Pro Titan 6”
Final Result- 9.75/10

Wolverine T-Bone
Final Result- 7/10

I went with the Timberland Pro Barstow Wedge in the end

pics? prices? what kind of review is this!!! :ror:

I need new boots but, haven't been able to find any that I like.

Agree with the Timberland ratings, Titan Pro 6in. was my latest purchase. Their a little stiff around ankle but that's what drew me to them after I tore up an ankle. Comfy!
And durable. Gonna stick with the brand.

I have tried all the brands, big name, and no name. The only boots I have had that really hold up is Red Wings. I get a couple years out of them. The Wolverines I was wearing were blown out in less than a year. They cost more, but IMO, it is worth it.

I switched out to Red Dawgs after blowing my ankle out one weekend. I had many big named manufactures over the years. I am getting excellent ware and comfort from the Dawgs. Oh and they are very reasonable in price.

White's Smoke Jumpers

You don't need to know anything else when it comes to work boots. Fell in love with them playing wild land firefighter and haven't found a better boot anywhere else.

Red wings are the only way to go. Try some on before anything else and you will go back to the redwings. Yes they are expansive but they last at least 3 times longer and if you spend the day in a pair you know they were worth it. They are the caddilac of boots and I will never buy anything else.

I'll second Wraith6802's comments.
I have been wearing Red Wing steel toes for the last 10+ years. In that time I have purchased 3 pair.
Two of them are still working strong. I had new soles put on one pair and am still using them around the house.
Quality construction and I have never had a complaint about the customer service.
If you want to keep the same pair of boots for 5+ years, get a pair of Red Wings.

Is this normal?

I think its time for a new pair.

As a lineman I spend 12 plus hours a day in my work boots in all kinds of conditions from water to mud to concrete to dirt as well as climbing poles/ standing on spurs. I have tried all kinds and found that when it comes to your feet don't cheep out! I love my Royer Rovak boots. They have out lasted any other pair I have tried. Extremely expensive but I stand on all kinds of terrain for 12+ hours and theses are the only boots that don't leave my feet sore and back hurting at the end of the day. The best thing I can say is when boot shopping stay away from your walmarts and box stores... Go to a specialty boot store that can fit you to a boot that's right for you feet. Your back will thank you

Another vote for red wings here. Finally retired a pair after 2yrs at work and 3+yrs around the house. I've torn up wolverine, hytest, reebok and caterpillar cheapies quickly. Also I prefer steel/composite toe for trails and crawling activities after sliding then jamming my toes into a crevice while wearing chucks.

Red wings+green superfeet insoles keep my feet and back happy.

I wish i could like this more than once. I do construction and they are all i wear"thumbsup"

May not be relivent to you US guys but im also in Construction down here in Australia as a Sparky. Most of the brands you mention are unfamiliar but on a local level the best brand of boots ive found time and time again are " Redbacks" . They an Aussie Brand. They not one of the more expensive brands but they last pretty well and are comfortable.

i have Carolina boots for several yrs and not a complaint. but red wings would be my first choice again. gotta take care of your feet, they`ll carry you a long ways feeling comfy.

I wear boots everywhere not just work so I go through them faster than most. I wear them till they are pretty much paper thin under the ball of my foot and they start soaking water like a sponge.

My favorite, comfortability fist, wear second is Caterpillar boots. Favorite being the Silverton.

These are the last three pairs. I still wear the worn ones in the summer on dry days and the ones on the left I just broke out for the wet winter days.
