What powers your SCX10?

Here's an update my tekin 35t went out, don't ask me why either! So everyone was out of tekin 35t motors so I bought a Holmes Hobby 35t Expert motor, I still wish I could've got a tekin but oh well its already installed. Its running with the good old tekin fx-r and my gearing is at 80/17, it doesn't have much wheel speed as the tekin set-up had but I changed the gearing so thats why, but it has tons of torque!! I stuck a stick in the ground and that truck pulled it out with the first pull!! I take my hat off to Holmes Hobby, I thought tekin was better but after trying HH thats a tough decision. At first I use to say a tekin 35t was better but not anymore. - axial 4x4 crawler

Axial 55turn
Dynamite esc ( love this little thing so far)
stock honcho pinion
2s lipo (hoping to get a few smaller 2s lipo packs soon as I use the 3s in my wraith and love them)

Sorting out a power system for a Dingo build. Looking at a HH combo, TorqueMaster ESC and 35t motor. Is pro worth the extra $ over the expert for the hand-wound attention? What sort of performance could one expect from a 35t on 3S?

I've been running an SV2 with a tamiya CR-tuned 35T 75 spur and a 26 pinion and has great speed and torque and stays nice and cool, no heat issues at all. oh yes and i either run a 2s 5000 or a 3s 3000 both good

i just upgraded my scx10 to the HH torquemaster esc with an integy 35t motor and use 3s lipo... with a 12t pinion on the motor and the stock spur gear... it has tons of wheelspeed, enough to get air over just about any obstacle if you punch it hard. and if you have the castlelink cable, there are tons of options for how you want your crawler to perform.. the "holmes hold" drag brake is by far the best on the market if you ask me. your truck stays exactly where you stop it. i plan on getting a handwound hh 35t in the near future.

SCX-10 313mm wheel base with Cherokee body
2 Onyx 3000 mah NiCad 6 cell (1 bat up front factory location an the second in back factory location), 2 Tekin FX-R ESC's, 2 Tekin 35T HD motors

Level 3 dual motor plate with factory tranny an 87 tooth spur gear. Currently a 15 tooth pinion on each motor. May adjust the gearing abit, currently 5.8:1. Thinking of adjusting to 5.3:1 with a 80/15 combination.

Just purchased the RTR version. Pulled out the stock motor esc and replaced with an ET3s esc and a tekin roc412 3100kv. Will mostly be ran on a 2s 5000mah battery with an occasional 3s run. Leaving the stock gearing for now until we upgrade the guts of the drive train.

ESC - Tekin RS PRo
Motor - Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster Pro 35T
Batteries - Turnigy Nano-Tech A-Spec 2200mah 3S lipo, soon to be reduced to the same but 850mah (comps)
Spur/Pinion - 87/14 48P (will head towards 32P sometime)

Esc - Hobbyking xcar 60a sensored
Motor - Turnigy trackstar 17.5 sensored
Battery - Turnigy Nanotech 5600mah 65c 2s

Is 4S overkill for a 55t with say 60/9 32pitch gearing? Will i be destroying my gears with that much voltage? Or should i stick with 3S on the 55T motor? Esc is BR-XL.

You could go 6s with that combo/setup..

55t is So slow.. You can gear up as well.. Like 60/13..
Ur gear ratio is 6.7:1.. That's geared Way low! Specially on a 55t..
60/13 is a 4.7:1 ratio
60/12 is exactly 5:1

But to answer ur question.. First off, what's "overkill"!? :) 2nd, I don't think it is..

I ran my 35t torquemaster pro and 16t crawlmaster pro on 4s.. Now I have a HH trailmaster BL motor in it and it is Nasty on 4s! Like puts some wraith's to shame... And I run 56/11 gearing, which is 5.1:1 ratio..

Anywhere around 5:1 is perfect between torque and speed, that gets the most longevity out of ur motor.

With a 55t, you could get closer to 4:1 IMO...

Hope it helps
