Here's an update on my motor combo. I was running MMP w/ LRP Vector K7 21.5 and 16t pinion on 2S lipo. I really liked how smooth and quiet it operated but wasn't to happy with the lack of wheel speed. Also, it seemed to cog a bit in tough situations at very low throttle input.
I switched to 3S lipo which definitely helped overall wheel speed, but still had very minor cogging which annoyed me.
I had a non working Novak 18.5 ballistic crawler motor lying around so I decided to repair it and give it a shot. It needed a stator and the cheapest one tower had at the time was a Novak Vulcan 17.5 stator. I used that with the ballistic can and 14mm crawler rotor with 15t pinion. Huge difference in power with zero cogging. I know it's not "apples to oranges" but it's night and day difference. I'm considering going to 16 or 17t pinion and back to the 2S lipo.
JK - Castle SCT Combo w/ Summit 2 spd - 2s crazy fast in hi, good crawling - in lo. Would break everything with 3s!!
Truggy, Castle MMP, BEC, HH 13t Crawlmaster Expert, 3s, 16/87, excellent crawling combo, wheelies when needed, good wheel speed.
