What did you do today?

Yesterday but anyway...

> Turkey- 8/10 Basted so it came out looking good. Could've used a bit more flavor and a bit less oven time but still was decent especially for a first-timer. Stuffed it with sage and rosemary and brined with kosher salt/ black pepper/ butter. Will make good leftovers/ sandwiches.
> Herb stuffing- 6/10 Also left in the oven a little too long so dried out a bit but otherwise okay. Could've maybe used more salt/ butter. Made with fresh sage, rosemary, parsley, garlic, dill, sweet onion, and celery.
> Green bean casserole- 5/10 Not as good as I remember from my youth. Made exact to recipe but I dunno. It was okay. If I make again will use frozen green beans... not canned.
> Corn casserole- 10/10 Was the favorite of my wife and myself... Sweet and savory. Used my sister's recipe. Came out fantastic... crispy edges, soft and moist. Will probably make this as a side for another meal down the road.
> Mashed potatoes 7/10 Really thought this would've come out awesome but nope. Easy enough to fix but still... should've used more butter, salt, and garlic.
> Gravy 5/10 Was okay but had problem with it being too thin so added more flour than recipe called for... subsequently had a little bit of a flour taste. Also pan-drippings didn't accentuate flavor as much as I had hoped. More pan drippings, less flour, and less stock would've helped.

The rest was store-bought and tasted as expected. Not a fail for first time but I can definitely see where improvements could be made... except for the corn casserole... That was delicious/ perfect.

Protip: Use cornstarch instead of flour. You need way less, and then don't run the risk of a flour taste in your gravy. ;)

Signed uncontested divorce papers, divided assets and debt, figured out child support/custody and visitation, decided on what/where/how/etc...
Installed a spool and some longer hardware into the losi diff
The dish wheels for my 1.9 paddle tires came in and i dug up or "brought down" the tires to mount one for up for diameter measurements.View attachment 508880
Sorry to hear about the divorce! Althought it is uncontested so maybe it was a good thing or relief for you. Whatever the case, good luck moving forward!

Thos wheels are awesome on this rig! What are they?

So was this a "test" Thanksgiving day meal before gameday?

Wasn't a test in that sense. My wife has to work right through Thanksgiving so we decided to do it while she was off yesterday and today. And that way if she wound up hugging the porcelain from something under-cooked, she'd have an extra hurl-day... thankfully it all went well. Using a heat probe helped to alleviate my concerns but you never know with a big bird.

I went to the post office to get my Injora package only for them to tell me they sent it back the day it got there. I called the next post office in line to see if it is still there and the lady said she would look for it for me. Fingers crossed she is able to find it.
I’m so bummed, I was really looking forward to it. Oh well, time to put my truck back together so I can use it while I’m waiting for the package, lol.

edit: She couldn’t find it…

I went to court yesterday for an incident that happened a few months ago with a gentleman who ended up suing me for 12.5K in small claims court.

He ended up drinkin some and was covered in luke warm cream and coffee and claimed all kinds of stuff like ptsd, pain and suffering, loss of wages, etc

I missed the court date for the suit, (i also only had 4 days before i was served) however it was ruled in my favor and I just have to pay 141 bucks, because the judge saw the video and said it looked like he started it!

I got those same tires just over a year ago. No complaints.

Today I loaded up the big crawler and pretty much all the warm clothes I own. Heading to WV in the morning. I'm not built for the cold but its time to wheel.

Really like the at3’s when they first came out and lasted me through the tread warranty and 8+years… I was sold on the at4’s. In my haste I ordered the wrong size, a bit bigger but works right now. 1/2” spacer or new rims with a different offset really fills in nicely.

Took a hit in the wallet

I have to take that hit myself soon. Unsure I'll get Falkens for my 98 2wd Silverado though. lol Prolly just a set of Goodyear Wranglers again for the old girl. She don't see much off road.

SO far today> I got up. Debating on putting shingles on my mech room. only 37 outside today. but gonna be colder the next few days so I am taking that as my sign. heh.

Just curious a question about your truck. What's the square tubing under the rear bumper and under the front of the bed used for?
I'm going to take a random guess, only as a retired mechanic that has seen damn near everything.

Those are slide in mounts (they work like a trailer hitch - where you slide the other end in, and pin it in place) for a in bed camper shell. They're used to secure the camper in the bed and are removable so they don't hang out past the bed edges when the camper isn't on the truck.
