My V1 electronics finally bit the dust after many faithful years of service. Decided to try the 1060 esc and stx2 tx that weren't being used for anything else. It's a big improvement, but the downside is more weight up high. Once I install some sliders, I'll rearrange things so the battery and rx are on the sliders, and the ESC where the battery is now. Overall though it's a nice repair/upgrade that didn't cost any extra money.

I'm running the 1060 in my scx24 as well but with the original deadbolt body it was a super tight fit. Had to lay the rx on it's side lol. But yeah, big improvement indeed.

Oh yeah, honestly its good enough that I'm OK with the extra weight. I weighed the various parts and didn't write it down but I think the stock esc is 14g, 1060 is 38g (after changing the wiring), and a 1080 is 50 something. I was tempted to try the 1080 since it's programmable but man that's just too heavy for my rig.

Well I thought I had a 1060 in mine but duh.. it's a a 1625. Don't get old, folks!

But yeah, I considered trying to shoe-horn a 1080 into mine as well but in the end it was just too big and heavy. I considered the programmable aspect as well but out of any of my rigs, the little scx4 would probably benefit the least with that lengthy menu.

How do you like the 1625? I was thinking about picking one up, but wasn't sure if it had a F/R driving mode or if it was only F/B/R. I'm happy enough with how my rig runs with the 1060 that I'll probably leave it like this for a while. If I do upgrade, I'm thinking the micro brushed/brushless esc from dinkyrc might be a good way to go.

I did rearrange things in mine, now the ESC and RX are mounted low and forward where I had the battery before, and a smaller 400mah battery on the rear tray. In this configuration my weight distribution is improved to 58/42 and cg is lower. Handling is noticeably improved, I'm pretty stoked about how dialed in this thing is right now.

The 1060 imo is a better choice over the 1625. The 1625 only has fwd/ rev/ brake.. no other options. I do like it over the original AE6 regarding a smoother throttle response and no glitching ( mine glitched anyway) but not a huge improvement from stock. Works for me although I would've gone with the 1060 if I had put some more thought into it at the time. Btw.. Really like the look of your rig!

Thanks! I'm just starting the process of cutting up an Associated 1/28 short course truck body to make panels for the cage, which is from a $20 walmart rc car. Imagine like a twin hammers desert truck combined with a proline cliffhanger. Not sure yet if I'm going to continue with the red and black snakeskin thing, or go a completely different direction.

Installed a ramp crab adjustable rear upper link riser and stock fcx24 shocks on the rear. still have some adjusting and testing to do, but so far both mods are a noticeable improvement.

I pulled my transmission apart only to find the littlest gear inside was missing a couple teeth making it kinda hard to run it, lol.
I got a Unity24 and was pretty stoked with it but less than ten minutes on the rocks it blew up my transmission…
Hopefully today I will be buying a new transmission for my SCX24.

Got the transmission installed, super stoked so far. We’ll see tomorrow how it is after the lock-tite sets up.

Drove it!
Finally had a good session for the first time in weeks after getting my motor/esc hooked with the new radio and receiver and then a new transmission.
It drives great, the Furicar app is nice and easy for setting expo. So much low end control. Too bad it started raining a bit into my second battery.

Drove it, managed to get my front drive shaft to separate, lol. I put it back together and fixed my limiting straps. I now have rubber bands instead of fishing line, it keeps the axles from dropping much but I get all that good Hot Racing double barrel action.
Getting ready to take it to the house rocks and see how it does.
