I'm running the 1060 in my scx24 as well but with the original deadbolt body it was a super tight fit. Had to lay the rx on it's side lol. But yeah, big improvement indeed.
Oh yeah, honestly its good enough that I'm OK with the extra weight. I weighed the various parts and didn't write it down but I think the stock esc is 14g, 1060 is 38g (after changing the wiring), and a 1080 is 50 something. I was tempted to try the 1080 since it's programmable but man that's just too heavy for my rig.
The 1060 imo is a better choice over the 1625. The 1625 only has fwd/ rev/ brake.. no other options. I do like it over the original AE6 regarding a smoother throttle response and no glitching ( mine glitched anyway) but not a huge improvement from stock. Works for me although I would've gone with the 1060 if I had put some more thought into it at the time. Btw.. Really like the look of your rig!
