What are you working on??

Had some extra plywood and legs from making my computer desk so I whipped up some RC Truck stands. I usually keep spare tires under the axles or store the trucks on their lids.
This is a bit more refined.

Pictures are embedded and also linked for all those having issues viewing.

So, I've been dubbing with the idea of a winch anchor and I've come up with 2 prototypes.
I need to make shovel heads for them so they will be able to hook into softer ground.

Small and large. LOL

These stainless shafts I'm pretty sure added a pound to the rig.
Shouldn't bust another shaft though.

Hopefully no more bent pivot shafts in the kids Yeties. And we are adding 2.5 million cst into the front differential to help them crawl better.

Got the cage all finish welded and first coat of primer, also built the battery box, primed the frame and the links I made. Now on to body work. If all goes well I think i'll have it with me at reid.

Kaler, that is definitely a work of art!!! Top notch!!!

So, I made shovel heads for the winch anchors and soldered them on.

Then I took them out for a test run....
The small one didn't have enough surface area to hold in the grassy soil here, it just dug out a shovel full.
The large one held steady even up to the point of stalling my winch!

Then I tested them on rock.
Both of them lost their shovel heads under a heavy load, but I have no idea where the small one's head went to.... it just went flying!!!
The large one works great on rock without the shovel head, but the small one is too springy and will bend to a point where it releases, then springs back into shape...

Time to scrap the small one and think about the large one some more!

You might find this useful Rob.

I used a 60/40 silver solder. Still working just fine.

Made the templates for the side panels and getting ready to trace them to plexi glass then off to the bandsaw we go.

Wraith all disassembled. Axles, trans, motor, esc all cleaned up / regreased.
Waiting on the Deadbolt body and scx10 chassis, should be here tomorrow.
I hope to have it ready for Sunday.

man everyone's got something going. too bad I haven't lol ive just stalled out on working on anything.

Decided I needed to get going on this. Got the front links cut back 1 1/4" to get the front axle under a little better. Been hesitant to cut them, that's why I haven't gotten it done yet. Liking it much better so far. got a few things to do outside. Then get the trans and electrics back in it. Going back to the 13.5 redline now that ive shed a lot of weight it should be much better.

Got the Wreadbolt done. I've got to think of a better name. I don't have any bumpers yet. I'd like to get a tube bumper for the rear, just a single tube tucked close to the body. And for the front I'm thinking a stinger, not too high. I need to see if someone can make me those. *Cough* Kaler *Cough*

The rear axle pinion angle is a little off for my liking. I used the same links from the Wraith. I might throw on different rod ends or just shorten the rod itself. it's just 10-24 rod.

Outside is done. Managed to salvage some old decals from the Ramcharger. Plus found the top of a HEMI from one of the boys old toys. Got it secured to the underside of the hood. Think this is the last transformation for this rig. Cant wait to try it out.

Electronics are done, and got the cab primed. Was thinking about painting it competition orange but i'm really diggin the black on black! Gotta make a choice tomorrow, all that's left is to weld the two cage halves together and shes ready to go!

I stole the Superlift 100mm shocks off the Wraith, put the softest rate springs in them and stuck them on the Power Wagon.
It sits about 1/8" higher in the front and about 3/8" higher in the rear than before, but with a lot more flex and droop!!!!

Is it Sunday yet?
