We have all heard that many times and I want to kick off the Holiday Season with one of my favorite holidays...

Veterans Day!!

It's no secret that I have a soft spot for Veterans.
Everyday I put my flag out, I think of those that have served, and are serving the country I love...
making the sacrifices that many of us don't realize are necessary, to enjoy the lives we have all grown accustomed to.

For that I thank each and every one of you!

I wanted to do a small giveaway to honor each of America's Armed Forces

Army
Navy
Air Force
Marines
Coast Guard

So I'm giving away 5, 100% made and screened in USA, T-shirts...one to honor each branch. Not much, but it's my way of saying thanks!

I'll start........this is me a loooong time ago (handsome devil!). I was an Avionics Technician on F/A-18's. VMFA-115, 2nd Marine Air Wing, Beaufort, South Carolina. This picture was taken in Japan and that's me on the left between the vertical stabs.

Both of my Grandfathers served during WWII; one with the Army (Luzon Campaign, Purple Heart) and the other with the Navy (Tender Ship, Europe)...I couldn't be more proud.

A quick story as well.

Years and years ago I was working for an answering service; I received a call one afternoon from a gentleman looking for his doctor.

When I informed him that the office was closed for the Veterans Day holiday he replied with something that I will never forget... "Thank you for letting me know, but to many, this is not a holiday"

Much respect to our Vets and troops.

This is just awesome. I have been serving for the past 18 years and headed for Iraq in Feb of 11. I love doing it and it still brings a tear to my eye when people stop me when in uniform to say thanks.
There are some great people out there like you. Thank you for serving and to all those on this board who have or are still. "thumbsup"

I would like to thank my two Uncles that served in Vietnam. One came home and one died in the service of his country. Thank you to all the men and women who keep us safe daily.

My Grandfather was a Paratrooper, and although I never knew him I would stare at his metals my father kept and feel pride in being a free American. God bless and protect our troops, wherever they may be.

I never served, but want to thank my father who served in the USAF during the Korean war, my 2nd cousin who was a B-17 bombardier in WW2 and my uncle who served in the Navy in WW2 (who was also at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941) and I also have 2 friends on here who have served.... I'd like to thank my Pop Pop, may he rest in peace, for serving as a dentist in the Korean War. His service was cut short when he contracted Polio, but I like to think of the guys he helped coming home and being able to give their loved ones a great, big, beautiful smile :mrgreen: Not to mention all the people he helped once he got better and started up a practice here in the states.

I joined the Air Force shortly before Desert Storm and served for 10 years.
While in the Air Force I was in
Nebraska, Texas, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Turkey, Iraq, and Korea

I am proud to have done my part and thankful to those who continue to do so. "thumbsup"

Where to start... Have two friends from Highschool who went MARINES... 3 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as snipers... They'll never have to prove anything to me again. You guys have HUGE ballz! Thanks buds "thumbsup"

Pretty cool giveaway Juan.

2632nd Trans Co. California National Guard 1981-1992. Almost went to the first Gulf War, but the ground combat ended so fast we were stood down. Did a different kind of combat in '87, helping in the wildfires that year, taking the brave Indians up to the flames, following bulldozers cutting roads right in front of me on scary sidehills, etc. Helping people, (toy drives, homeless bed delivery, etc.)

Veterans deserve all the thanks they can get, in peace or wartime.

I mostly drove 2 1/2 tons, but here is a pic of me in 1990, next to my M915, waiting for some guys to finish loading up a refer at Camp San Luis Obispo so I could hook up to it. I was the ice-man that year, delivering bags of ice to all the infantry out in the feild during our 2 week "summer camp" Temps: 100-110 degrees out there, They were happy when I showed up.

Semper Fi Juan. Served in USMC for 4 years with 3rd BTN 4th Marines (infantry) 1st Marine Div. and am heading back once I'm done with college. Saw alot of action. Here are some pics of me in Iraq.

Just outside Baghdad right before we entered the city being the first Marine Unit inside the city in 2003 and the unit that took down the Sadaam Statue.

This is my team in 2004 gearing up to attack Fallujah.

The new team in '05 heading back into Fallujah.

I served in the Army with 3rd Brigade 24th Infantry Division on Ft. Benning, GA 1992-1994. I was a 13F Forward Observer. Nothing like sitting on a hilltop with binoculars and military version of a laptop sending Artillery missions back to the artillery guns.

I also served with 737th Transportation Division in Yakima, WA 1995-1997.

I'm glad I served I learned a lot. I don't have any pictures from when I was in the service but still have uniforms.

I know that I don't qualify to enter but, just a few words of thank you to everyone that has served and still serving in the United States military, I mean all branches of the services. I am 16 yr USAF disabled veteran. 3rd generation military. Grandfather US Army retired Major General deceased 1974. Grandfather started military career enlisted Washington Army National Guard, went with Gen Pershing looking for Pancho Villa. Served as a battalion commander horse drawn artillery age 26 in World War I. Served on Gen. Eisenhower's staff in the Second World War. Retired in 1946. My dad US Army retired Colonel in 1969. Served during the Second World War in the Phillipines, occupational forces Japan, Occupational forces Germany two tours to Vietnam. Ist time Advisor to the South Vietnamese 1963. Security Plans & Operations Officer 1st Log Command Tan Shon Nhut Saigon, South Vietnam 1966. Senior Army Advisor Az Army National Guard. Then retired. Myself 4 yrs AZ. Air National Guardsman Law Enforcement Specialist. Transferred NV Army National Guard, served 2 yrs got out. Active duty USAF security supervisor 10 yrs. Cross trained crew chief F-16A/B aircraft and F-117A aircraft for 6 yrs. Had to get out.
To all the men and women in the armed forces take care of yourselves and come home safe.

I served in the Army right out of High school 10yrs ago but my time in was cut short due to injuries. My job was a Patriot Missle Fire Enhancement maintainer and Operator for the 1/56 ADA(air defense artillery), most of the people that served in Desert Storm know about this system. My mom(truck driver) and dad(grunt) served in the marines stationed in Okinawa, Japan where i was born, my moms granddad served in the Airforce as a B-52 Bomber mechanic, my stepdads 4 uncles that served in the Army, 2 died in WWII and I cant remeber what wars the others served.

I would personally like to thanks all the troops that served and have served our great country.

For those that were lost, RIP my fellow soldiers.
