time for another scx6 newbright build

the plan is a basicly a lightly build up a ranger splash 4x4 that you would see on the street nothing to fancy no huge tires 33-34 range so 5 inch ish that will fit the wheel wells really good

i picked up a f150 newbright body but being a bit small for a full sized 1/6 pick up i figured ill just call it a ranger and call it close enuff

when i build my scx6 honcho ill call it a tundra and then the scale will match lol

anyway i stripped the newbright junk off of it

i plan on using redcat black out front diff for the ifs cause its the same gear ratio as the ar60s and og scx10 axles and i want open diffs if posable a locking rear diff i think a yeti set up would be to wide but im not sure yet lol
the redcat stuff is alot cheaper so well see

The wheels look fitting and I like having the correct wheel bolt pattern for my rigs as well. Sometimes it is difficult to accomplish though.

Cool looking project ferp, keep us posted. "thumbsup"
ya its always nice when the lug pattern matches what the rig would use ive found alot of 8 lug pattern wheels and they fit everything lol

the 5 lug is alot harder to find

anyway the hammers is over so i have time to work on my rcs again

i was looking up the front diff parts then for the hay of it i turned the wraith upside down and set the body on it dambit it looks really good so now im debating using ar60s front and rear

im kinda stuck i need to rething were im going with this build

still stuck on what axles to run but i ordered some tires for it i found some 128mm tires on china exspress after i ordered them i noticed on the sidewall it says brazerker at closer look they look like a exsact copy of the pitbull brazerkers whitch is kinda funny cause when i was test fitting tires in the wheel wells the brazerkers were the best fit the only thing that worries me is the pitbull brazerkers suck booty if its the same compound im screwed but they will look good and for $25 after tax and shipping im ok with it lol my pitbulls were over $100 for 4 tires so if these suck too i wont be pissed and i lan on running open diffs so im not exspecting it to perform great anyway

well i ordered a trx4 rear axle with locking diff im planning to do the portal delete and i ordered the redcat front suspention i figure ill give it a try
if it dosent work out ill go to ar60s

i got my front end parts and the tires and the rear portal delete kit so now i can start making up a frame for it i screwed up and ordered the wrong diff so im using a old blackout diff for mock up

Your track width looks spot on if yer ask me! Have you thought of buying the 25mm width wheels, and use these fur another project?

thanks i think so too
i havent found any other wheels i like with a 5 lug pattern
i think this style fits with what ford used back in the late 90s so im gona try and cut them down and run with them

got the axle mocked up the ssd portal deletes needed a bit of massaging to get them to work with thw aftermarket axle housing but the fit nice and tight i lost im guessing maybe about a inch over all though with so i had to order some extra wide wheel hexes wich kinda sucks but hay it will look good enuff and still have the locking rear diff

i started mocking up the frame rails and the rear end so heres what i got so far

Dang I have a set of those wheels from a crawler swap meet.
Where'd you order them from?
I ran them on a 10.2 with 8mm hexes.
I thought about having a friend make me some new longer hubs for those wheels. For now they sit in the wheel drawer.

I got this rig running and well it's driveable the steering isn't great but it works there is no bump steer and no binding I am working out some stiffness issues with out adding slop in to the set up
I still don't have the shifter or rear lockers set up and I haven't made bumper supports yet
One of the front shafts keeps popping out of the drive cup I figured out the swing arm is drooping to much so I am reworking the shock towers when the chassis was on the bench the shock towers looked ok but once I bolted the chassis to the body there was a huge difference in the shock tower hight so now they will both be the same I hope that fixes the issue
I was only able to run it in low range when I shifted to high gear and the shaft would pop out but it looks like it's gonna haul butt in high
It's geared more like a Tamiya than a crawler but I was never planning for it to be a true crawler anyway lol more a trail rig
Anyway it's all tore down to the frame for welding so nothing to see so no pics

I got back on this build got the shock towers fixed and all put back together the shafts aren't pulling out anymore so that's good
Just got the hay of it I stuffed a 12" figure inside and it fits good and the bed is the right size too I guess it's closer to 1/6th scale than I thought lol anyway no pics today sorry next time lol
