Official venom factory support thread

So were is are Venom rep at??? Tell us something we don't know. Dig release date? What you think of our trucks? Can I get sponsored by you guys?

(The last questions my favorite! "thumbsup")

Seen chris on rcgroup site posting, but he did not put out any info about creeper or the dig. Not a single update mentioned and customer service is even less helpful...it's as if they are in hiding

Hey guys no worries I'm still here.
No release updates on the Dig unit. For you guys going to the Montana Scale meet next weekend I will bring a unit to show and run so you can check it out. "thumbsup"

I appologize in advance for any missed emails and calles placed to customer service. We are rebuilding the department now so its been hecktic. Please reach me here if you have any questions.

Sponsorship potential is there and we are evaluating the scene and who's who so keep it up and be competitive we are watching! The better you place with a Creeper the better your chances are thats for sure.

Chris

Your personal rides have been really cool to check out and watch the videos. It impresses us to see what people do with a product after we release it and you say "I didnt think that would be done!" lol We know the Creeper very well and yet I'm still amazed at what it can do so keep pushing the limits there and post more videos!

Chris

Chis,
Something to think about down the road to make this thing crawl much better, is a way to inboard the lower links on the tranny.
Like so:

Also another thing to think about is a plate for the rear 4 link setup to get the upper links behind the center of the axle. In the picture below he has since made a differant plate (so its basically reversed) and used longer links.
Like so:

His truck setup he built himself, it has zero torque twist. His truck is one of the sickest 2.2's i've seen. He's taught me that it's all about link geometry.

Chris, sorry to hear about no projected release date for the dig unit. Thought since it was being shown as a option with the creepr back in Oct. of 08 it would have been released by now or at least have a projected release date.

As it is, to be competive at a comp, a dig is a must and hate to say it, but the losi being released at the end of the month with multi dig included, will hurt the creeper. A home made shaft dig like I made for the creeper cannot compete with a comp ready out of the box rig such as the losi. or others that are dig equiped.

I have a comp on sunday in taylor falls mn. and I feel like I'm going to gun fight with a knife.

I just ordered the revised skid plate online with detailed comments about hoping that it is the correct part and not the old one. Lets see what happens cross your fingers everyone!

@Dark8ngel

I hear you and believe me I wish it was different but there are things that go beyond your control sometimes and there you are. Dont worry though you have a competitve rig."thumbsup"

@Wangankin

I have seen the latest stock here and the new skidplates are shipping. If you ordered online direct I'm pretty sure you will get the one you asked for.

@ L1C

Thanks for the pics and info!

Chris

wow you guys have awesome CS! All i had to do was email you my address and you are sending me a new shaft! Shipping has taken 9 days on the other one i called for but thats OK, better then nothing :D Thanks!

Shocks are crap....

Ok, I've gotten thru all the initial issues and now that I've gotten a chance to crawl a bit the shock caps are blowing off like it is the 4th of July. Every small tumble results in a cap coming off.

I thought I was buying a competition kit, but obviously this is far from competition ready.... very disapointed.

Anyone else having problems with these plastic pieces of crap?

Is Venom planning on doing anything about this?

i hear all this problems that people are having and it blows me away.the only problem i ever had was a couple broken axles.i beat the crap out of mine.it's tumbled down a 10 foot rocks and you think what did i brake and you flip it over and do it again.

venom when is the dig coming.also i want to buy the new skid plate.but your web site shows the old 2 piece.i hate buy a skid plate think your getting a 1 piece and a 2 piece shows up at door.

I had the same problem. You know what fixes this problem. Going with traxxas big bore or losi shocks! Upgrading is part of the game man. You say your dissapointed in the creeper not being competition ready... Obviously you haven't compted much have you? How many stock axials or any crawler for that matter do you see at comps? None! Unless there a newb. Last time I checked the axial claims the ax10 is comp ready too. Everyone knows and accepts that as not true. It's three linked for gods sake! http://www.axialracing.com/ftp/ax10/
Selling trucks with crappy stock parts is just how it is in corperate america. They make money off selling the truck, selling aftermarket parts, etc. I think you get the idea. You should always take what a company says like "its comp ready" with a grain of salt.

Ok, I get it... but

Well said legion1,

This my first crawler and yes I am a total newb with them. My experience with RC Offroad has been much different. My SC8 (bought as a RTR) is bullet proof and very close to competition ready, even though Associated does not advertise it that way.... even my Slayer (Traxxas) puts the Venom experience to shame in regards to quality out of the box.

Thanks for the sanity check, I will upgrade the shocks and see what is next.... or, maybe crawling is not my thing. "thumbsup"

Tweaking and tuning is to be expected especially if you're going to compete, but having to upgrade parts because they're so poorly designed or built is not.

I've had AYKs, Tamiyas, and Kyoshos (15 in all), and worked in a hobby store 20 years ago selling all brands and none had shocks this bad. Some of my Venoms leaked the first time I put them together and others blow caps easily. The design of the body is just too thin and the threads too fine. Venom, you should add some plastic and they would be great!

Otherwise I'm happy with the kit and was happy with the performance of the shocks. But I got so frustrated with these I bought Losis and now need to find time to change mounting locations as they are shorter, something I could have done without.

Something you might think about if you want to run the same length shocks, is buying axial stock shocks with aluminum caps and bodies. That way you don't have to worry about mounting locations since they are the roughly the same length, and it would be much stronger.

Venom, I called you guys last monday and told me you would send them the next day . today is friday.... WHEN AM I GOING TO SEE MY PARTS? Even with the cheapest mail USPS sends, it shouldent take THAT long for them to get there...

i was testing my new creeper in the backyard, creeper was climbing the rock and front right wheel was pushing all the vehicle (i believe it was hanged on the Transmission Housing, coz have no new skid), then i saw left wheel started to spin, i thought something is broken, damn...

so look what was broken
