John I am a little concerned about dropping in the 45t p-94 I bought from you along with a sidewinder a few months back into my new losi comp crawler for fear it will fry it. What are your thoughts on this whole over heating problem. I don't own any other rc's to put this hardware into and don't want to be stuck with a bunch of brand new parts, but I think I may have to go brushless. Thanks.

Tekin fxr

I am just getting a tekin fxr 45 turn combo and I am trying to buy one of the cobalt 7t from a guy from the forms. I was wondering If I could use the battery back I have now. They are 2700 mah 7 cell nimh AA packs. They sit right between my links. I will eventaly switch to lipo but I dont understand the whole amps thing? What kind of specs do I need to run a 3 cell lipo with the motor? Also what kind of run time should I receive with my 2700 mah on my gc2. the rig is kind of heavy. Will the motor be fine?

Also what would the difference in run time be from a 5t 7t and 10t.

Hi,

Im looking for new motors and have a question about the Puller 500s

My current setup in a Berg:

PolyRC 4s 2200mah lipo
Sidewinder/CC BEC
35t Warrior IIs

I was curious if the Cobalt 500s would handle the 4s pack? The truck is on the lighter side for a Berg....or would it still just be asking too much from the smaller motors?

Thanks

I just got my mini torquemaster the other day broke it in on my motor break in thing and got it installed in the crawler yesterday. I took it out for a test drive today on the rocks and I kept having to give it a push to get it going. It only happens when you stop and not every time. Do you have any ideas? I guess it is still under warranty since I just bought what do I need to do?:-(

I think some 85T lathe motors and 8 tooth pinions would be your best setup.

1300 2s LiPos ?

Do you have an ETA on when your 1300 2s LiPos? Can I pre-order two or be placed on a waiting list for two?

A friend hooked me up with his spare and I am beyond impressed "thumbsup", can't wait to get my own.

My charger won't do that. I can ship it to you and you can look at it. Just send me your addy.

Be sure to include the problem in a note.

The 10t puller that I got from you last month is making noise. I have only ran it three times. To me it sounds like the shaft is loose in the bearing and is tumbling around in the bearings. It doesn't feel loose. The motor makes this noise at half throttle forward and full in reverse. I can send a video to you if you want. I just want to catch if something has gone wrong before it gets really bad.. Know what I mean.

They can be noisy at certain throttle settings, especially half throttle on Castle ESCs.

Are you talking about fast wear of the brushes, or the whole motor burning up? I love the motor, and don't have an issue with replacing the brushes every 2 or 3 months, or even the whole motor once a year. I just don't want it to suddenly die in the middle of a comp or trail run, I just want it to be reliable. Will I just see a reduction in power when the brushes are getting worn? How will I know when it's getting worn out?

Wear on the comm and brushes is what I am referring to. You will just have to keep it clean and drop in new brushes every few hours of use.

john, do you keep records for your customers and what you programmed their electronics too?

I don't. Your servo is buzzing because it is trying to find center, it is normal.

its the one with the silver and blue can with the shaft that is held in with a set screw. i pulled off the sticker that was on since all the letters were gone and it had some other name on it but i cant remember so ill look it up tomorrow.

It sounds like an old waypoint motor. it uses a 3mm shaft, the replacement can be found here http://www.allerc.com/product_info.php?cPath=7_112&products_id=2660

I was $8 short on my paypal for a week....lol.

now I got the funds but you're out of Mamba Maxs.

any idea when some might come in?-will they be that same great price?
(I was kicking myself in the head, and I'm sure I just missed the last one)

I may not carry the MM again, I have another ESC coming out soon that will be better.

John, I am looking to replace my Rooster 55t with a Sidewinder and a Torquemaster 35t.I am using 2s Lipos on an Axial crawler.I would like to gain a little wheel speed. Is this the right combo, or would you suggest something else. Thanks

That sounds great to me. The 35t is nice and peppy on 2s.

I don't have one, but I do know the brushed motors get hot. If you keep an eye on the temps there should be no issue, but you may be limited to 15 minute runs or so.

The AA batteries will get killed fast, they are high resistance.

The 5t would give the lowest runtime, the 10t the longest runtime. I can't give estimates, it depends on how you drive.

Hey John, curious as to how things are coming along with your Torque Master BR ESC...

It is coming along, I just don't quite have them ready yet. I should have more details later today.

any suggestion on this john.

If it is a brushless motor, it is the nature of the sensorless startup.

I have run them on 4s, but they don't like it. 3s is better suited. The small motors do fine if you give them a chance to cool down.

If you didn't get the silver brushes with your order, I have sent out replacements as of this Saturday. This may fix the issue. If it doesn't then you can send it back.

A few weeks now, I am getting plenty on order so there won't be an issue with stock again.

Dual 454s and FXR (for cliffclimber)

I want to run two 454 colbalt motors with 9 tooth pinions, Tekin FXR on a 11.1 volt lipo on my HR MOA rig. It weights just under 5 pounds RTR. Will the motors hold up to the 11.1 volts?

I don't recommend it, but if you watch your heat carefully I won't stop you

Hi JRH,
Just to clarify. So the FXR will handle dual 454s no problem? Watch the heat on what...the motors or the FXR? Would a 2S lipo (instead of 3S) fix the heat problem? What C rating would you recommend?

Berg with Cobalt pulers

John,

I am putting together a berg with two 7t cobalt pullers, a Castle MM, and utilizing the PUNK RC dig switch. I am planning to run 3s most of the time. DO you know if the MM will require running in "high power mode"?

when replacing the brushes in my torquemaster 45t motors. is there a specific brush i should be using... if so where can i find them. i could not find "replacement brushes" on your site. ty

I have a couple questions.
First is a motor for the mrc; I run a 3 cell 1500 lipo. stock esc, until the sidewinder micro gets here.
I'm hoping someone can also explain puller motors.
Are there specs that I can use to help me compare them to a regular brushed motor?
I'm interested in something for the mrc and for a heavy clod super.

thanks

john you finally answered some of these questions but not mine on the page before this and i have left you an email and message now, seems you dont answer the phone any more or take pm's, thats a bummer, it was alwasy good to talk with you as you have always been very helpful, i need to try and fiqure out my question still if you can answer please, i don't know how else to contact to you to find out how you programed my electronics

i have also left a message on your site. plz get back to me as soon as you can. we all know you have the best customer support out there.

i dont wanna go back to my brood8)

Miss matched Motors

Hi there

I bought 2 Torque master motors from you back in October of 08. I was using them in 2 different rigs since then. I built a berg and was installing them and noticed that one motor says 25 on the can and the other says 35. When I ordered them in Oct I orerded 2 35Turns. Dont know if the cans were numbered incorrectly or not. How can I determine if they are 35's or 25's?

Thanks
Joel

The FXR will handle them on 2s, but I haven't tried it on 3s with a single ESC. I was speaking to the heat on the motors really. I would recommend a pack that can put out at least 40a continuous.

You should be fine in normal brushed mode.

I run my TM mini on 2s with the MRC. The stock ESC won't take 3s very well, and my TM mini motor will wear out fast on 3s.

For your clod, any motor will work within your budget.

The puller motors are pretty slow, but have a higher amp draw. They make more torque for the RPM basically.

I know I sent you an email a few days back. Maybe check your spam folder, and I will look back to find your question in this thread.

Hi John, my name is Keith and I sent you a email through your website about a Crawlmaster motor that I have......I have not heard back from you.
spoder514@surewest.net is my email.

I will check it out.

Take them apart and the armature will be stamped with the wind.
