I've found the Losi Night Crawler to have about zero torque twist and never lifts a tire making it predictable. I have some LCG custom crawlers, and they are good as well but takes more finesse at times to get them through the same lines as the night crawler. Although it does not bridge gaps very well and power out of situations...motor is next for an upgrade

I think for an out of the box crawler it's better than most at least for some serious vertical boulder climbs
Tires and shocks need to be changed, but that goes for about any of them

The thread does say current. Pretty sure it's been several years since the night crawler was discontinued.

While the link geometry does look similar to a capra, I think the worm drive axles were what limited twist more than anything.

The axles are super slim and have tons of reduction and don't need drag brakes

I don't think they make those any longer since Element inked the deal to have a GroundFox.

For one reason, there is absolutely no creep. They didn't need a drag brake because they just locked up rather than coasted.

I tend not to think about Element anymore but cool that Artful Dodgers got that deal and hope he gets a decent cut from that...still sucks that Element has seemed to tank so fast though

Noise would be one reason. Didnt they also require a good bit more maintenance?

True. They say the worm drive needs to grease every 9 packs or so.
I've quieted mine down a bit using hudy graphite grease with HBN additive. Drilled and tapped a m3 hole to make adding grease easier.
Still fairly loud though, but it's not my trail rig at least

I've almost pulled the trigger on a nightcrawler a couple times over the last couple years. I thought people liked the shocks? Would definitely pick one up if losi did another version/refresh

It was kinda expensive for what it was at the time, but horizon had a killer sale on them a couple years back and grabbed one.

Shocks were ok...they just looked too big for my taste

The nature of worm gears are to resist roll on thus they need to be Driven to move the wheels.
