I know there’s been some talk about this thing in some other threads. But figured since no one’s made an official post I would.

Here’s the link to the page

I know this thing isn’t for everyone, hell I didn’t think it was for me. But after letting it sink in I decided I will be ordering one. I was traveling all day Wednesday and by the time I talked myself into it, they were sold out. So here I sit waiting for a few months til the next drop.
Without this turning into a bash fest against the price, anyone else already order one or considering it?

I also started off thinking it wasnt for me when I first heard about it. After I got off work I got the chance to sit down and look at the videos and specs. I really like the body and color options. Being limited kind of made me move quick although I probably spent 3 hours staring at all the color options pondering what to pick.

I talked to my brother and he pointed out what I already knew, we both have put that much money into our crawler collections many times over.
I was telling him it would be kind of cool to give no fucks and just beat the crap out, screw making it a shelf queen. I dont know if I can actually do that but I will definitely be using it.

Anyway I ordered a blue body, gray cage, black axles and bronze wheels. I havent rounded up anything else except for some IFR beadlock rings which I kind of think they should have included.

I'm hoping a HH 2 in 1 will be out by the time I get it.

Its honestly kind of embarrassing to say I bought one but whatever I did I'll own up to it. I'm not wealthy just bad with money :ROFLMAO:

Honestly when I first saw it I thought there’s no way I’m buying one. It looks just like my Optic that I am currently building with the exception of CNC machined bits.

But the more I see the pics on the socials and all of the cool and unique options on the VP website, the more I’m trying to talk myself into purchasing this beautiful kit. The problem is funding. And that was my problem the first time around with the Ripper. By the time that I had finally talked myself into getting the Ripper and the funds were there, the Ripper went extinct.

The H10 Origin price tag doesn’t look too bad when you look at the thought, planning, time, material and options that go went into this project. Quality and craftsmanship IS what Vanquish is known for. So as I spend more time drooling over the pictures of it, I can understand the thought behind the price.

For now though, funding is driving my decision and I’m sure I will regret not purchasing this beautiful H10 Origin kit. Dammit, it would look good sitting beside my OG VS4-10 Origin Limited!🙃

I do look forward to seeing and following the future H10 Origin build threads here on RCC!

I've been considering the purchase of the "not a ripper 2" for at least a year. Jim said on one of the vp lives that it was happening in late 2023. They've dropped generic info and machining videos along the way. They stated many times that it would be expensive.

I had seen the Ripper 2nd hand market (wild) but I wasn't back into rc when those were available new. I didn't actually know the full details on them until I checked the vp site through archive.org (I first see it in July 2017). $1900 in 2017 money, and this is the list of items needed to make it a complete kit.

"What you need to complete a roller (not included):

  • SCX10-2 Chassis rails
  • SCX10-2 RTR skid plate (or original SCX10 skid plate)
  • SCX10 Bumper that bolts in between the frame rails (not to the outside) and is under 3.75in wide
  • SCX10 Rear chassis crossmember
  • Axial 3-gear transmission (complete with slipper and spur gear assembly)
  • Axial Bomber Interior
  • Axial Yeti Fuel Cell
  • Axial EXO radiator
  • Vanquish Products SCX10-2 F9 front axle with servo on axle mount
  • SCX10-2 knuckles and kingpin bushings
  • SCX10-2 rear axle of either style (Currie RockJock or F9)
  • SCX10-2 axle internals (gears, shafts, lockers, hexes, etc)
  • SCX10 driveshafts (this truck has a wheelbase slightly longer than the standard 12.3in but most SCX10 compatible driveshafts should work without an issue)
  • 5 - Vanquish 1.9 wheels with 475 hubs (or 350 hubs if using the KMC XD Center Cap)
  • 5 - Tires and foams (max tire size of 4.75in, when using the maximum tire size you will experience some rubbing still)
  • 90mm scale style shocks (up to a 4in shock will work but larger bore shocks may have clearance issues with the rear sway bar)
  • Bearings and hardware"
Based on that info I was guessing the new complete kit might be $4500 or more. Mentally, that was my "out of the question" top limit no matter what it ended up being. I set aside the money over the last year so I had the option to to buy one if they dropped something I really liked within the limits I had set for myself.

Even when they checked the boxes for me (I liked it and within my budgeted range) I still had it in and out of my cart a dozen times and slept on it before I pulled the trigger. Any way you look at it, it's still a lot of money.

None of this is to justify buying a silly expensive toy, but there was a fair amount of thought and preparation that went into my personal purchase. Seeing people's reactions, and how many missed out on this first round, I have no doubt I could get my money back out of it if I really ended up regretting it, but i don't see that happening.

If I'm completely honest, my credit card rewards points (many years worth) that I had been thinking about using to purchase an emtb or onewheel will cover 80% of the cost. Guess the e-bike will have to wait. 😆

Mine is all black with clear axles.

I went over this last night on my Livestream. Did a H10 Optic Kit Review and then a comparison and breakdown on its cost then the Ripper and the H10 Origin.
I note my purchase choice in the vid.

I'm strongly considering it. I have a hard time envisioning things without pictures so i couldn't fully commit to a certain color scheme. While i was trying to decide, they sold out. As long as they've been teasing us on this, I thought they would have had enough stock built up to last longer than a day.

I want either blue or grey panels and bronze wheels. Was trying to decide cage colors...black or bronze. Didnt know if bronze cage would be too much. Heck, a grey cage with blue panels would probably look good. Hopefully seeing some pictures in a couple months will help with the decision.

I don’t have the extra $$$$ for that luxury so I won’t be making a purchase on it. The cage is a thing of beauty. But I do wonder why the trans is not machined also, I know it is extra tooling but I think it’s a miss for the heart of the machine. The body is spot on with the wraparound the shock hoops.

I was late to the party and just heard about this yesterday - and it was long sold out by then. I'm game for one, so will have to keep an eye out for a restock. Does anyone in the know have any idea how they're staggering the release? I have a newborn at home so can't prowl the sight day-in-day-out, and there's no e-mail sign up for notifications.

Best bet will be to check the vp Tuesday live streams. They will probably mention it there when they open up orders again. They haven't, and likely won't, give any numbers about how many were released for sale.

The only time line they've offered at all is from the description.
  • 3 month lead time for anodizing and packaging once order is placed
I imagine they are waiting until they have product in hand and ready to be anodized before they open up orders. Is that 30 at a time? 50? We'll probably never know.

I have seen bronze panels with a black cage on a ripper and it looks trick. I would imagine the opposite of that would look good also. But I also think the blue/bronze combo would look good.

Good to know some people in here are still living up to their name.

I considered black panels with a gold cage but otherwise I’m thinking the same as my old Ripper, black cage, blue panels, black axles and black wheels with some blue skarn rings

The Ripper market the last couple years is baffling to me. I still kick myself in the ass for not clicking checkout when I had one in my Vanquish cart for what seemed like an eternity. I would go back and look at it every couple days and just couldn’t justify it. I am sure there are a lot of people that did the same thing and didn’t get to either enjoy a cool car or cash in on an unlikely investment… Who knows if this one will turn out similar or not. I pulled the trigger anyway, and would like to drive the shit out of it on one hand, but the other tells me to white glove it like Michael Pham. haha
Guess we’ll see how long it takes to get them and go from there.

This is why we need 2, one to beat on and one to sell in 5 years to pay for both lol

That’s EXACTLY what I thought too, but I only bought one… Derp
Maybe the next batch. haha
The unfortunate thing is I chose an uncommon color scheme for a specific livery, so it would actually be better suited to be built and displayed. But I want to drive one…

I agree. There’s too much plastic on it for a $3,500 rig.
