Gun and knife picture thread!

That's cool!! I'm going to have to keep an eye out for one of those!

Around the end of the open bolt semi era (early 80s) some places were making open bolt semis.

Looks like they only made ~45000 of them from 1958 to 1961! Quite rare!
Thank you! It was my first rifle at about 12 years old. I turned 50 in January, and I'll never part with it. It's rare, obscure, and a dumb idea that nobody really wanted when they were new, much less now. But it's one that I'll treasure until my dying day.

It's pretty dang cool!

The open bolt single shots are pretty unusual! The only ones I know of made in any sort of numbers is the MAC guns to try to get around some of the semi auto open bolt ban.

I will be doing more Win model 55 research!

Thanks. It's a weird little gun, but fun to shoot, and more accurate than it has any right to be.

Funny how that happens with accuracy sometimes!

You make me want to get my old Marlin out for some open bolt SA fun! Last weekend was open bolt FA fun.

Yep, sometimes it does. My Henry H001 is a shooter too. I'm a self-professed rimfire junkie. I love the big stuff too, but damn it gets expensive quickly. Over half my small collection is .22lr. Suppressed .22lr is great for new shooters, or just not having to wear ear pro for the day. Pushing the limits of the tiny cartridge is fun as hell too. This was with cheap CCI SV ammo, pretty confident with match ammo I'd hit every single one.

I've never pushed 22LR to 300. I've gone to 200 with 17HMR and 22LR bolt guns. I don't do much "longer" range. Occasionally out to 700ish with the AR10 but most of what I do is under 200.

As much as I love rifle caliber, especially in full auto, I have a soft spot for 22LR. I'm currently waiting on a 22LR upper for my MG. Then I'll be going down the rabbit hole of rimfire suppressors. I'm thinking SiCo Sparrow. Unless I just make my own. I know that upper will get a lot of use.

What unicorns do you have in your collections?

I have a bolt-action 12ga, with a 4-round magazine, until I saw this thing in the flesh, I never knew such an animal existed. I received this thing from my nephew, who had to give up all of his firearms due to incarceration reasons. I still have it because it really isn't worth that much, and would be the perfect gun for a gun buy-back offering; of course, here in Northern Idaho, we don't have those.

It is also not much good to me for shooting. The first round would be fine, but I am a lefty for long arms, and trying to cycle a right-handed bolt action is comical, bordering on dangerous.

I have quite a few unusual things.

((10)) Kit build AKS74U with proper Bulgarian barrel.

Same thing but AKS74U with bulgy barrel.

2 Marlin Model 50 open bolt 22s. Probably a decade ago there was thought to be 500 remaining.

CZ vz UK-59. Czechoslovakian belt fed in 7.72x54r. Only not original pieces are barrel and whatever I made to make is semi auto. these are seriously impressive rifles. Something insane like a 1.5million round service life. Never used by any country but CZ. Anything outside CZ is demilled surplus. I think the number is 100k made in total.

DPM. Stalin's Record Player. Mine is a polish kit. All original minus parts I made for the semi conversion. The DPM is the most modern of the DP/DT guns. DP were personnel carried. DT is vehicle or tank mounted. Otherwise basically the same thing.

Luger in 30luger and a 1917 marked Luger in 9x19mm.

Yugo M53. It's an MG42 with a low ROF kit.

VZ61 Skorpion. Pathetically underpowered in 32ACP.

I collect Russian AKs as well.

PM63.

All sorts of oddities. Or at least oddities in the USA.

The Sparrow is pretty dated at this point. I'd look into newer options such as the Silencerco Switchback, Dead Air Mask HD, OCL Ti, etc.

I don't really have anything that most would consider a true unicorn. Just some stuff you're not likely to see another of in person. That would be the model 55 Winchester, I previously posted and my Winchester model 62A takedown, pump .22lr. Manufactured in 1953, fun little gun for sure.
