Cutting the guide grooves for the charging handle on the MG42. Got the wide groove done. Need to make a smaller one on the opposite face.

Sorry for the crappy cellphone pics.
Coming along slowly. Very very slowly. Did pick up a case of 308 for it. Don't have much 8mm Mauser for it though.
If I lived closer, I'd be bugging the shit out of you to just come and watch your work. You do some super cool stuff!! Always wanted learn machining.Shot a pistol match this past weekend. By stage 3 I couldn't hit shit. Plate rack was safe from me! Got home and started looking over the pistol to see if it's me that sucks or a mechanical issue. I still suck but I found a mechanical issue. The screw head on my MPS was barely holding on and fell off almost as soon as I touch it with a torx. Steiner told me to send it in with no questions asked. Said they have some updated parts and will extract the screw and send the new mounting hardware. Had a prepaid shipping label in my email within 30 seconds. Looking forward to putting it back on the pistol. Also found my front sight is all fubar and needs to be centered again too. Wonder what I ran into!

The suspense is killing me. What is it?No. About 40 years newer.
Hint: it's for a 22LR.
That's one weird looking bolt, and it appears that the bar in the middle may possibly be the firing pin as I don't see one otherwise. Not sure for what, but guessing something open bolt full-auto.

Very interesting. I also have a little piece of oddball rimfire history, also open bolt. Winchester model 55 single shot semi-automatic. Yes, you read the correctly. You are correct. Open bolt but semi auto. The wedge in the middle is the firing pin. Dang near folds a 22LR rim in half!
Marlin Model 50. Only open bolt 22 Marlin has made. 5000 were made between 1931 and 1934. Very very rare. Mags are worth about what a rifle it's self is worth. There are at least 2 variants as my 2 are very different and even use different mags.
Very neat little rifles! Shoot pretty good for an open bolt too!
That's cool!! I'm going to have to keep an eye out for one of those!Very interesting. I also have a little piece of oddball rimfire history, also open bolt. Winchester model 55 single shot semi-automatic. Yes, you read the correctly.
