Food/Cooking

Thought id share tonights dinner. Local meat counter had flat iron steaks on sale so figured id give them a shot. Meat guy said marinate for atleast an hour so I went with overnight.

Marinade is Italian dressing, lemon juice and garlic

On the plate to come to just under room temp and a touch of seasoning. Salt, pepper and this stuff

I normally do my own rubs and mixes but my mom bought me this and its flippin awesome.

let that sit for a few and time to start my side

Birds eye makes several frozen combos like this that are awesome to toss into a recipe or have as a side. This one has zucchini, yellow squash, red bell peppers, and red onions. bonus there about a buck and a half
Into the skillet

On to the grill with the steak, couple minutes a side to nice medium rare

Got my sous chef to watch the veggies

Plated up ready to eat. Little more fresh ground pepper and a little mozzarella on the veggies

Also Don't forget a nice beverage

Smoked a couple butts Saturday over some apple wood. With some homemade rub and a apple juice base injection.

Yup. Lean ground beef, a little fresh chopped garlic, onion powder, beef both, simmer 1 hour +.

Edit: You could put some fresh chopped onions and jalapeños in there, but not me bro!

Been using that instead of ketchup for a few months now. Brings back memories of being a kid. So does Heinz 57 sauce.

I had a bad chili sauce addiction, which led to a 25 year hiatus. I'm on/off the wagon again.

The quitters at the meetings can't imagine how nice it is to be back.

Spag sauce with butcher shop veal, pork, 90/10 burger meatballs and HOT Italian sausage links, simmered a good 4 hours. Served with Rigatoni noodles and warm, crusty, butter garlic bread. No room for rabbit food (salad). :lmao:

^You are in for a treat. Grew up huntin' wabbits, and raised them for a few years. Started out with a few wild one's I'd caught and put them in a pen, and before long had a small heard of them.
I'm sure I had pan fried a few (most likely in black skillet a couple post up) and sauted in gravy with onions and mushroom an hour or so. They are tough if cooked fast. Darn good eatin'.

Enjoy "thumbsup"

My grandma makes pan fried rabbit just by itself. If shed put that kind of gravy with it I would stop eating chicken. Even Popeyes chicken

Doing the chili thing again today while watching the race.

Every Sunday night after dinner......

and
trubble-48139-albums2052-51549.jpg

Should get me through the workweek.

Tonight's recipe,

10) frozen chicken tenderloins (1lb, 9oz frozen weight)
1) can chicken broth
1) 13oz can, and 1) 26oz can Chop Suey Vegetables (half-assed drain, if you want)
1) small can sliced water chestnuts (optional)(half-assed drain, if you want)
Soy sauce to taste.

Defrost/thaw chicken, cut into small chunks, cook in pan w/ black pepper and a little salt, when chicken's cooked, dump in remainder of ingredients, simmer to combine. Start 4 cups water boiling, dump in 4 cups rice, boil for a minute or two. Shut off heat under both pots, let sit until cooled. Dish out portions.

While the bottles are typically filled with Crystal Light, that was on sale this week, so it figures the store was out. So, this week I hadda get the Roundy's brand iced tea w/ lemon, and strawberry energy (caffeine) flavors.
