Another update!

Now that the body is the pretty new color and the holes are filled in the sides I had to figure out a new set of rear body mounts. I took my old body mounts that were below the doors and moved them out on the chassis and back so that the are now in the Reign cab back, I also lowered the height of the cab so that it rests completely on the rock sliders and support the weight of the cab and the truck if/when its upside-down. I test fit the Steel bed before I went about removing all the LED's (for now) and then went to remount the old Honcho bedworks so I can geta feel for how it's going to look and how much a pain in the arse removing and replacing the cab is going to be for battery charging. If you look closely you can see a dead man switch, I installed that a while back because It was such a PITA to plug in and unplug the battery, this way I can pull my looped Deans out by the rock slider and not have to take the cab off every time I want to plug in or unplug the truck. I stil have to pull the cab everytime I charge though.. 10 LBS of shit meat 5 Lbs bag :ror: even without all the LED's there is alot of wiring going on in this truck, now imaging about 30 more wires:shock:

On the way I have some new shoes waiting on the bench, nothing super special but a new set of G-8 flatirons, the old ones are the stockers and they are getting rather round and I'm ready for something better"thumbsup"

Really like the body mount through the back cab wall, really clean and pretty stealth"thumbsup" 3 body pins doesn't sound to tough to get the cab off of a hardbody rig...beats having to use a hexdriver or a screwdriver:ror:

Is it just me or does the truck have it's nose up in the air a touch?

the space between the cab and the bed is pretty tight, so I don't have alot of room to move and once the interior is done its going to even tighter. The nose is up a bit, the front body post is a tad too long since I lowered the rest of the body posts. its aluminum and I need to do some sanding but ran out of time:mrgreen:

Was wondering if you could put a "tab" on the cage where the cab meets up and run one of those body mounts like you used for the front hood mount (hilift mount) and put the body clips to the inside of the back wall. Pull the front clip, reach under the back wall and pull those 2 clips and the body pulls off forward away from the cage.

Does that make sense??...it's late, I've had more than a few to drink and I'm waaayyy tired. Good night.

took me a couple tries to envision what you are saying, and I think I could, and I may do something like that at some point once I get the Steel bed farther along and permanently mounted.

what kind of beadlocks are those? those things are sweet!

Nice rig too of course!"thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup"

They are Darksoul's OMF 1.9 scale offset wheels. they are the look as his comp wheels but a little narrower offset and the back ring is shaved for clearance.

Thanks for the props"thumbsup"

I have been reading this thread for the past week or so and I have read and seen everything. I must say, hats off man you are pretty dang talented. I liked how you made the truck an extended cab awesome work. And the frame bed is just incredible. I actually was curious, in your opinion, what would be the best material to use if I wanted to drop the bed down on a lexan body truck? I know you used styrene on your truck. could I use that with lexan or do they make like a plastic product I could use? If you gave me the name of a product I could do the research on how to work with it. Any advice would be AWESOME!!! Thanks!!"thumbsup"

A lot of guys build a bed out of styrene and fit it up under the lexan bed, the styrene is very easy to work with, if you have a local hobby shop that supples styrene and a good cement you should be set. I tend to freeform everything which can cause problems if your doing complicated things, I have to force my self to stop and do it right. It pays off in the end though so be patient with it. start small and practice so you can get a feel for how the styrene forms and holds shapes, how the cement bonds, and how filler and sanding affect your work.

trying to do a drop bed out of lexan would be a PITA its not nearly as workable as styrene and any glue you use would be messy and hard to hide.

I use Tenax 7r cement when ever possible, a heat gun an exacto, an 18" straight edge ruler and several different sanding pad and files. I really don't recommend dremels as they tend to melt the plastic instead of cut it and it makes messes and rough edges which you have to fill in later

Thanks for the advice. My GF works at lowes and gets a discount so I am gonna check there first for the styrene and maybe the cement. I am going to get a ton of it and just go to town practicing. I am running the stock axial cf-100 body for now but when i put my ford body on I want it to be right. I have all the tools and stuff cuz i am a mechanic. I will see what I can do. Thanks again I really am greatful and KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!!!

Practice makes perfect, glad I could help. I wish My lowes had styrene.
