Dani's Chaotic SuperSpecial Pro Berg

WOW. That truck is looking so good. What is the track width with those wheels/tires? Are you getting full steering, tires rub the lower links? Keep up the great work.

Thanks Ryan -

have much to less track width at the moment (340 mm / 13.39"), I'm making some spacers for getting 364 mm / 14.33" and 388 mm / 15.28".

Like pictured I'm getting full steering but rubbing the lowers

still a lot of work to do...

Chaotic Crawlers has the complet sets (16 pcs.) rod ends with Alu balls...

So thats who bought out all the stock of aluminum hollow rod balls from traxxas. :flipoff:

Wonder if they bought all the axial underdrives gears as well? :lmao:

The hollow balls should start showing up in stores again the first week or so in August "thumbsup"

did you mean those:

guess I have two or three sets, if you need one, send me a PM

I knew it! :lmao:

Thank you very much for the offer. I was desperatley looking, I did finaly find a used 43/13 ring and pinion here on RCC thru my wanted add.

Your truck is looking very nice. What is the weight on the wheels themselves with hardware/hubs.

I knew it! :lmao:

you know where you can get some... ;-)

thanks Ted, have to shave and cut them all and then I'll put em on a scale for you.

got the lower rears and bent them tonight:

so I can fix all the D-Lux parts tomorrow and go ahead with all the electronics, the knuckle weights, and, and, and...

did some work on the knuckleweights:

I can use the weights most possible out in the wheels now and if I'm changing my track wide, I only have to change the 2 delrin spacers and the weightholder fits always perfect to the heels.

Can put in 11 weights with 14.3 gramms / 0.5 oz each; together with the holder I have 154 gramms / 5.43 oz each side. Hope that will be enough

and then I finished my VP Hub Spacer; cause the track wide with the Super Bergs and the outfacing CF wheels is to less, I made spacer with a wide of 18 mm / 0.71 in; so I can use a 0.225 VP hub and will have 0.936" and the max. is using a 0.850 VP hub and be at 1.56" then. That is probably a bit to much and strong enough for my 7980, but I can do that, if it's needed.

I'll lighten them a little bit later on, but first I have to finish the axle steups and figure out what width a like to go.

Very nice work!! "thumbsup"

Thanks, man.

Had some time to do work on the axles:

fixed the D-Lux parts and mounted the servos; front axle:

rear axle:

and then put her on the scale with all the stuff who has to be assembled the next couple of days:

firts without knuckleweights:

2'607.6 gramms or

7623619420_824d0c7d8e_o.jpg

5.749 lbs

and the same with knuckleweights fully loaded with 11 tugsten weights:

2'947.6 gramms or

7623619832_87f4a45614_o.jpg

6.498 lbs

all that with the heavy steel hardware and the most heavy tires I have. And tomorrow the shock bodies will go on the lathe.

So I'm happy so far with the weight.

get some more pix for you guys:

So the French Nationals are next weekend; wanna roll out Tuesday at least and get some wheeltime on her...

Any inputs around the setup are welcome, guys.

You've got a great looking truck Dani...I can't wait to see some videos from the practice and comp! With the DLux wheels what was your overall width running the VP 850 without your extra spacers?

Thanks Ryan "thumbsup"

With the D-Lux wheels, 850 Hubs and without the extra spacers the track width ist exactly like showed above (335 mm). I need at least 350 mm for not rubbing at the links at all.

some news on the battery tray and electronic tray.

Cause the amazing D-Lux Battery behind the servo mount is to wide for my lower links, I have to think back to my solution to place the battery on the axle. I'm doing that on my Switch and feel great with it.

So I did three or four samples of battery holder and found a solution which I like so far. It's light (4.4 gramms) and fits perfect beside the gearbox. It's just a prototype for using it the first couple of packs...

next was to modify the D-Lux electronic tray for fitting my electronics size and try to save some weight...

the old tray, just a bit "dieted"

7628213638_daf728e4bd_o.jpg

and the new version, using the D-Lux plexi gearcase cover and some CF:

and in the rig:

so I can place my SW V2 x 2 and my CC BEC x2 on this plate and have just to find an idea for my receiver...

 I missed a lot!!!

1. Those knuckle weights are awsome!!
2. Those hub spacers are a really cool idea
3. That battery mount is sick!

VERY sweet work man"thumbsup"
