B-MOW's TRX-4m Mini Blue Bronco

So as previously mentioned, finding a former James Bond has been harder than expected. Sean and Roger are no longer with us, RIP. Mr. Dalton was last seen on the set of 1923 and Pierce is as far as I know overseas somewhere. Daniel just left MI6 for good in No Time To Die, so another celebrity was hired.

Welcome Dr. Ian Malcolm. He won the seat of the Spectre SVX Bond Defender. He is the perfect size and he looks great in the driver seat.

He first had to go under the knife and have his legs removed. He wasn't happy, but willing to do it. A dab of E6000 on his torso and underside and he's sitting good in the seat.

In case I forgot to mention, I found the interior on Thingiverse, I think, and printed it on my Ender 3 Pro. Super easy print and it turned out great. The bottom "sides" were a separate print and had to be glued on the bottom side of the interior. I then sprayed it a flat black and then lightly detailed with a silver Sharpie.

Dr. Malcolm looks pretty good in the driver seat. Since the stock windows are so dark, I trimmed out the front driver and passenger windows to let in some light.

All that is left on the Spectre Defender is to add roof lights and find a tube bumper that closely matches the 1:1 bumper. And possibly add some rope that attaches to the Defender hood.

Very nice! Yes, I'd like to find GOOD front rear bumpers for the tiny Bronco too, found some 3d prints on fleabay but the quality and print material was very lacking. Cape Crawlers on the tube has a decent looking printed front tube style, dunno where he got it though.

Thanks Nate! I may have forgot to mention, but I did find and print a 3D printed rear tube bumper that I found on Cults3D. I painted it flat black and mounted it. It looked great, but the mounting holes in the bumper were so weak that the bumper broke off. I have since not been able to re-print in a different configuration to help make it stronger.

I've been watching Cape Crawlers fairly regularly for awhile now. He has great content and some cool little builds! I'll have to go back and take a look at the bumpers he uses.

Oh and I agree with your pronoun!!!!!;-)

Picked up some new parts for the Spectre Defender. Found a cheap brass set on eBay. Quality looks good and they are hefty. We'll see how they bolt up and if the bearings fit good once installed.

Checked out the Little Guy Racing Parts website. They have many nice upgrades for the Axial SCX24 and some Traxxas TRX4m parts. Ordered some decals and a set of wheel nuts that fit the TRX4m.

Took the Spectre Defender out for a quick drive around the backyard rock pile. It was a beautiful day and thought it was a perfect time to get the tires dirty.

Less than a minute into the run, I smacked a rock ever so lightly and snapped off of the passenger side of the front bumper. I was so pissed that I didn't even get a pic of it.

Immediately to the rig back inside to glue the bumper back together. That was the end of the beautiful day!

I have to tell my wife that I was right, lol! I have always enjoyed reading your builds, and this one makes me want to buy another. I have a spare MN90 body just sitting, but the cost of what I want to do is almost equal to the trx4m’s $$$ and they have a much better all around performance. Guess I can make my own links and hub extenders.

Bummer to hear about the bumper, did you happen to reinforce it with a small dowel or anything before you glued it back together?

Hey, thanks for following along!"thumbsup"

I would highly recommend the TRX-4m. The performance right out of the box is outstanding and the aftermarket for these is growing daily.

Well, great idea on reinforcing the bumper with a dowel or rod. At the time I didn't even think about it. I just dabbed it with some JB Weld glue. It seems fairly strong now, but I'm sure it'll break again. I'll add the reinforcement next time.

@B-MOW71

Loving this build!

Quick bit of advise for the printed parts, turn the temp up. I run PLA+ at 220. Overhangs aren't quite as clean but once you get it and flow set right, parts act like one solid molded piece of plastic. If youre running petg, I run what I use at 245-255 but petg it hard hard to make durable on small/thin bits.

B-Mow71, would the trailer that you got for your Bronco fit a scx24? Trailer choice seems to be limited.

Thanks tigris!!"thumbsup"

Nice info on the print settings. The bumper that I broke was actually purchased form Defender Customs. I believe it is a resin print. Now that I have it glued back together, I may drill a hole thru it and insert a rod from side to side to stiffen it up a bit.

That's a good question. I'll get a pic of them side be side later today and post it up.

Don't have one but I think it would be too big and look out of scale. I think I have seen them on Printables or Thingeverse that can be 3D printed.

You may be right. I have seen a some nice looking 1/10 scale trailers on Thingiverse. I'll have to do a search for 1/18 and 1/24 scale trailers to see what is out there.

It looks a little big for the JLU, but may look better with the Gladiator with bigger/wider tires.

Appreciate the reference shots B-MOW71 "thumbsup"

Is that trailer made of plastic or metal? Just wondering about the possibility of cutting one of those up and making it fit the purpose OR try one from scratch??? Anyways, again ... appreciate the pics "thumbsup"

It is made of plastic and looks like it would be easy to cut and modify.
