I installed the Traxxas low range (crawl) gears (# 9776R) in my High Trail because it was too fast and jumpy in stock form. After the installation of these gears, it was dog slow. So I then installed the Holmes Hobbies 66T motor. It is better, but still lacking a little speed for my liking. I know, I know. I'm never happy! 😜 Since the installation of these parts, there are a ton of new motor options on the market.

The most intriguing to me is the Traxxas # 6250 because it looks to have a super smooth and silent start-up and is a plug-and-play drop-in. Does anybody have this brushless setup installed along with the #9776R Low Range gears?

I could also just change my motor to the Injora 48T, 55T or Meus 44T. Do any of you have experience with these motors along with the Traxxas Low Range Crawler gears?

There are two-speed transmissions and I don't really want to add that complexity and weight to this truck.

You can even get the Injora 370 size motor and transmission, but I'm not really interested in doing that.

Any other options you would suggest?

I haven't tried it but how about the Holmes 280 Revolver? 2800kv, intended for 1/18 scale trucks. Though then you'd need an esc as well.

HH Revolver 280

I might be becoming a HH shill. I have no affiliation though. Just gotten better product, better answers and better customer service from them than other companies.

Not a direct drop in unfortunately so I'm not interested in it. Thanks for sharing though as that motor is news to me.

The Traxxas system works great tons of tire speed but needs a low gear for crawling so it should work for you.
I run the 2 speed with the high blue gear set and in first it is lower geared than stock and crawls great than second rips way faster probably 13ish MPH.
The Holmes Hobbies 280 needs a spacer to allow the drive shaft to fit and adapt the motor mount screw spacing also a longer pinion, a 3d printer could make the spacer.

Thanks for the info. I'm leaning more and more towards the Injora 48T as the next step because it's only $15. And I don't run my mini enough to get any benefit from the longer runtime of brushless. I know there are other benefits though.

There's also the option of the HobbyWing Mini24 that I had totally forgotten about. The ESC is more adjustable than the Traxxas upgraded ESC and even has an AUX wire to adjust drag brake on the fly. And the Mini24 motor has slightly more KV than the Traxxas unit. The Traxxas motor is 3350KV vs 3500KV for the HobbyWing. The $74.99 HobbyWing motor and ESC setup is also significantly cheaper ($44.96) than the $119.95 Traxxas unit. That's AMain prices as of today. AMain also allows coupons on the HobbyWing system whereas Traxxas does not.

That Mini24 sounds really good, anybody have any experience with it? Could tempt me into fixing me lil rig that could ... cheers for posting the link Jato (y)

You're welcome. I'll be waiting to hear your review! LOL

The price is definitely worth considering but I am of the buy once cry once mind set and didn’t want to be trying until I found something I liked so the Traxxas worked and was plug and play. I also got to keep my Traxxas light kit working properly so that’s a bonus.I got to looking and the Holmes Hobbies I tried was a 380 size 2800 kv and I will make a mount someday soon and post up a build thread of the rig it will be in.

why the LOL ... something I should know about this Mini24 first?

I still doubt I'll actually spend any more on the mini rigs though but you never know.
I was just kidding with my comment since it hinted at you buying and reviewing the Mini24.

phew lol I thought for a minute there that I missed something dodgy about this esc. Doubt I'll pull the trigger but it is the first esc that made me think ... maybe I'll try this. Will be sure to post up any thoughts if I take the plunge though.

Curious to hear how your quest goes.

I went from stock to the Furitek Unity 2 in 1 and swapped in the traxxas low range crawler gears. The Furitek is 3500kv so I figured I might attain the smooth start-up as well as the impressive wheel speed. Sadly it didnt exactly happen tha way. Smoother start yes, but not so quick as i hoped. It isn't terrible, but definitely slower than the stock set-up.

i wonder how long its gonna take china to copy that furitek unit
Have any of the Hobbywing 2 in 1 systems been knocked-off yet?
I am actually surprised Holmes hasn't brought out a 2 in 1.

I do love how clean they fit when space is a premium. Here is the Unity mounted in. I also picked up a 3s battery that I am going to try in this thing to see how much top end it gives me

That thing is long! What scale is it - 1/18?

I have a Furitek Unity twenty four in my scx and it has been great but it’s only a few months old but I have had no issues so far. Like Rudy said the app is nice.
