Attn: NEWBIES POST HERE<<<<<<

What's up guys? I'm Tim and I live in Surprise Arizona. I'm totally new to the crawling thing altogether and have been out of RC for about 6 years or so. I used to run Losi buggies and trucks, electric mostly. A lot has changed in the past half decade! I came across the Losi micro crawler while looking for parts and decided I had to have it. I always thought RC crawling would be cool but didn't know it was actually going on at this level. I've had my micro for a few weeks and have had a lot of fun running and modding it. Its actually blown apart right now for rebuild number 3, just waiting for parts and time. I broke down Sunday and ordered a 1/10 crawler. I got a new Redcat RS10 XT on tuesday and broke it in last night, and already broke a few parts, opn the first run.LOL Nothing major and from what I've read normal for these, dead servo and I'm assuming snapped drive pin. I'm waiting for a reply from Redcat for warranty but will hopefully have it up and running for some real crawling this weekend in the mountains. Anyway, I found this site searching for info and couldn't join up fast enough.

Hello all, I'm Amos and I'm new to scale crawlers but not to r/c. I've been away from the hobby for nearly 8 years or so and amazed at all that has changed. My old setups consisted of a T-maxx (original release), nitro RS43, and an elec RS4 Pro2.
I left the hobby because I moved to WA from SC and my nitros became a major PIA to keep tuned in our crappy weather. I bought the Pro2 used from a guy at a LHS to try my hand at electrics... I was less than satisfied with burning through battery packs every 10-15min back when NiMH batteries were expensive so I only had a couple of them.
I consider my SCX10 kit my first electric R/C build especially since a lot has changed, at least for me. I wish I would have found this site before I plunked down my hard earned $$ on a motor and ESC . I kinda dove in head first with a blindfold on after seeing guys on a few different 1:1 forums talk about scale R/C. I'm getting ready to install my Novak Fifty-five and M-tronik Storm 14T esc powered by a Venom 7-cell NiMH. I wanted to reuse as much as possible from my last foray into R/C so my radio choices are pretty old school- 2ch AM KO Propo or 4ch FM KO Propo. Since I don't range being an issue I'll most likely just use my AM radio. I realize this is a pretty lame radio to use, but at least the odds of having the same freq as another guy is probably next to nill now that everyone seems to have moved on to FM or 2.4gHz FM.
With the treasure trove of info on this site, I probably won't need to post many questions since it seems most of mine have already been answered in one way or another. Thank you for making it easier to get up to speed on the state of the hobby.
I do have one question though... what the heck is up with the lack of kits on the market? I nearly walked out of two LHS's when I only saw one or two R/C car or truck kits on the shelf. Has instant gratification really taken over R/C? I used to rebuild my rigs for the heck of it because I enjoyed the build process nearly as much as driving them.

(Sorry for the essay post...)

Newbie wit an rs10

Aye what's good Cary from the 208 in Idaho I have an rs10 wit lots of mods:axial chassi (I think), axial shocks, axial aluminum steering knuckles, weighted proline hammer tires, custom bent traxxas lower links, super rooster rev. Esc, 10t pinion in front 8t pinion in back, 11t hh cobalt puller 454's.... I had a 12v 3800 mah battery here but I get really short runtimes like 2-3min.... Did I mess up by buying 11t cuz they have 16t 454's or does anyone have some suggestions on what I should do????

4 wheel steering

Has anyone ever turned a Comp Crawler in to 4 wheel steering? Just got one and was thinking about doing it...

My name is Stephen & live in north central IN.
I've been messing with RC since I bought my first kit back in the day (Murai Big Bear) , raced a Bennet chassis Clod in the 90ies, then a 1/10 scale Losi XXT for a bit till my son came along & priorities changed.

Recentley I stopped in at a local hobby shop, seen a Traxxas Slash & was hooked again.

I now have a 4x4 Slash, am working on finishing a Venom Creeper & am already contemplateing buying another crawler.

Lots of good info in hear & learning a lot since getting the RC itch again,"thumbsup"

Hey yall, I'm Stephen (AKA Stevie Girl) and no I'm not gay...

I just got my first crawler today, Losi trail trekker baby! But I own two non crawlers as well. I am a service tech at my local mechanics shop, but I know how to do more advanced work on cars as well. I hope to see some of you guys around! Happy crawling!"thumbsup"
