Anyone using the Hobbywing QUICRun WP 1080 ESC?

I doubt it unless they have a universal one that will work with this ESC. That's probably not going to happen though.

It's not a big issue though because the programming port is on the ESC.

With the port on the side I would assume it would work. I'll look into it on their site.. I have a program box as well..
 
It's a better version of the program box. Open their app on your phone and bam!.. you can even leave it plugged in and change settings on the esc where your at.. not waterproof though...

That sounds pretty awesome!

With summer here, my water activity is next to nothing

Will it worked with brushed ESC also? A lot of the features on the phone app look for brushess stuff.

From poking around the site it doesn't look like the esc supports its use.. maybe someone will email them to find out for sure...
 
I found that the LCD programmer did not work with the WP 80 though the bundled one does fine. I may need to update my LCD firmware which could simply be the issue but it worked fine with the MAX10 SCT ESC which is also very new.

I think this is one of those ESCs that you set and forget. I made an adjustment to the SCX10 a week after running it to increase the punch to max and up the reverse speed but that was about it for the future.
 
I have to ask the question of why you want to spend money on an ESC just to try to get the voltage of your lipo lower?

3.6v is far too low already. You'll be damaging it depleting it so far. Just buy another lipo. When a 5000 60C 2S hardpack is only $20, just buy a few.

Some of the ramifications of killing lipos quickly are high IR, less punch/more sag, increased heat during discharge and charging and increased risk of a cell dropping and a lipo fire.

Keep the discharge to say 3.75-3.78 and your lipo will last so much longer and the IR will stay lower for longer. You need to chuck them when it starts climbing and as they are dirt cheap look after them and own a few. Your run times will still be ages and you'll be able to run for like 4 hours straight if you want.

3.6v/cell is not going to damage the battery. 3.2v/cell won't damage it. 2.8 will.
When I'm not putting 5000mah into a 5000mah battery at LVC there's a problem.

The "correct" low voltage on a LiPo is a heated debate. Let's not start that here.
 
Nah nah, lets do! 3.5v cutoff leaves about 10% in the battery, but will double the life or better. I'm rocking packs three years old with hundreds of cycles that still put out 95% capacity and haven't lost punch. 4.15v charge and 3.5v stop keeps them happy.

Battery manufacturers want you using 4.2v and 3v so they drop to 80% in about 30 cycles. That's the typical life of a hobby pack used as directed.
 
I noticed these come with the XT60 plug. I have always ran deans on everything, so my question here is, should i keep the XT60 and swap my deans to the XT60 or swap these to deans? or is it just really personal preference? i have a couple deans plugs that are real buggers trying to unplug ive heard the same about the XT30/60 plugs

I'm in the process of swapping all my stuff from Deans to XT-60 connectors. I've been using Deans for the last 10 or so years and wished i'd changed to XT ages ago

Morning John, May I know which brand name and model Lipo balanced charger are you using now?

As My SkyRC iMax B6's Terminate Voltage Control, the lowest I could set was 4.18v per cell.

Any more custom setting good chargers suggestion for me?

I'm in the process of swapping all my stuff from Deans to XT-60 connectors. I've been using Deans for the last 10 or so years and wished i'd changed to XT ages ago

All my batteries are deans but its a 50/50 split between the esc's scx10ii and komodo are deans both my tf2's are XT that came on the hw1080wp esc. I guess the plug used is just preference? Or is there a benefit from one to the other?
 
Well i have installed both of the esc's and tested the trucks. Blazer is pretty much done other than battery mounting. The toyota flops around like a fish out of water with the link kits and ultimate scale shocks, so onward to that next. Thanks for the information on the hobbywing quicrun esc's!
 
Installed this 1080 after burning my stock Ascender ESC due to reversing polarity but that's on me.

Happy that I don't need a BEC messing up my wiring to run a basic 15kg SW-0231MG. Will upgrade my servo soon though, this 15kg isn't cutting it.

How strong of a servo have you guys used without needing a BEC on this?
 
I run a cheap powerhd 20kg waterproof on my hw1080 in little betty.
No probs so far. if u find spec of your servo choice the bec in the hw1080 is rated 3A.
 
Been running a Holmes Hobby HV 500 servo off it in my scx10.2 for around 5 months now without issues. I was planning on adding a bec, but i thought i would just give it a try and see how it worked. Worked well enough at the 7.4 volt setting that i never put a bec in.
 
I'm running 3 servos on my TRX4 and 2 on two other trucks with the inbuilt BEC. The Bomber and SCX10 have 25KG and 20KG units on each truck (per truck) without even a stutter or a cap (I put on caps and found one disconnected and removed them all as it made zero difference).
