I’m intrigued…

If they update the body a little bit I’ll be pretty interested

I wanted the basecamp just for the chassis with simplified transmission, but if this Deadbolt comes on that chassis setup, it might just win me over.

On that note... Looks like the 10.2 is moving even closer to the exit now. The Deadbolt and the Raw kit were the last of the 10.2s. Looks like this is the inevitable shove off the cliff for the 10.2s

Hopefully this also means a 10.3 RBK is on its way.

The photo looks very "Deadbolty" to me. I'm glad about that, but I'd like to see them take the Deadbolt in a different direction.

I'd like to see it fully featured out: on the 10.3 chassis, with the 2 speed / dig transmission and a full scale interior. Lights, winch, scale exterior details, the whole nine yards.

The original Deadbolt was pretty bare bones when released. Seeing it get some luxury would be nice. It's been in the fleet so long I think it deserves the "Rolls Royce" treatment.

My fondness of the Bronco is probably coloring my hope for this new model. I don't think an open cage, with a flat lexan interior is going to do the trick for me anymore.

Looks like it may be a replacement for my OG SCX10 Deadbolt.

All the major brands are releasing something new or updated. Just saw that VP released the Phoenix with straight axles!

I’m hoping it’s going to be a deadbolt bodied basecamp with straight axles. Whatever it is I’m glad to see new releases.

That’s what I pictured, and I would have been interested even at the same basecamp price.

But instead we get the same old dog bone havin, sintered gear exploding, plastic link noodlin 10.2… oh well.

There needs to be an entry level rig, but why would you buy the deadbolt when you could get the basecamp for $50 more?

Way to get our hopes up Axial. SMH

Agree!"thumbsup" At first I thought it was a misprint from Axial! I'm not sure what they are thinking by releasing this again in a different flavor!

Same here. Agree! I would have bet money that it was a 10.3 similar to the Base Camp!

IF I were to buy another Axial, it would be the Base Camp. Not another outdated 10.2. IMO the 10.2 was a great platform, but I think the 10.3 with it's updates is a better option these days.

I agree. Also, with the new Phoenix release, who would have thought VP would have two of the best budget minded offerings?

Sure the Horizon rtr’s come in cheaper, but if you get into the hobby and swap some electronics… [emoji2371]

I'd like to think perhaps they're buying themselves some time for their next model release.

Definitely a noob rig this one. Very poor value with all those craptastic parts. Parts not even worthy of the spare-parts bin at this point. Calling it a refresh seems a stretch. As the common sentiment here reads, it really is a surprise Axial is not pushing the 10.3 further. Lame promo videos for significantly dated rigs seems lowly.

Agreed the VP with F10's is a much more enticing release, and certainly better value.

When the 10.3 first came out, I didn't think it was ready to dethrone the 10.2.

Then the Gladiator came out and had much better performance with the long wheelbase. I thought ok, the 10.3 has potential, but the 10.2 is still on top in certain things.

Then the Basecamp came out with the simplified transmission, and I felt like that would be the final step needed to put the 10.2 into retirement.

Apparently not... I do love my Cherokee, UMG and UMG 6x6 though....

Agree with that! And the new Phoenix straight axle price is a hard one to beat!

My thought exactly! I do like my 10.3's better than my old 10.2 shelfie!:)

For what it is worth I prefer the SCX10.2 over the 10.3, but not this new Deadbolt. So much of it is plastic where plastic should not be. Maybe it would be OK at a sub $300 price and even then that would be pushing it. I find it hard to believe that the people at Axial thought this was a good idea. If Axial would have taken the SCX10.2 builders kit and made it into the new Deadbolt RTR that would have been a decent Rig for the money.
