cboggs' 5th D Sucker Punch

don't you dare beat me to it! don't even think aboot it! lol.

I have to xr wide mod mine to get an axle mounted servo. im using some lexan for a whats the word.. template.

I gotta say since changing out to stock wraith axles/chubs/knuckles this car has been perfect, reminds me of my old AX10 version only better! I've added more weight with the Blue Monkey weights tuning rings and have been extremely happy. So far we've had three comps to our new season and I've taken 2nd and back to back 1st place finishes. Here's a few pics from our last comp...

Dlux knuckles and Ofna shafts, had a bad push I just couldn't make go away.

That's the one thing I noticed when I switched from VP knuckles to dlux was that I lost some steering. I was able to get more weight on the knuckles with the dlux set up than the VP and RCbros.

I haven't had that push issue that you have Chris.

Strange....:???:

:

Not really......;-)

Its really not un common for STD. knuckles and C's to push...

My Shafty did it way back in 2008
My berg did it before i went 8deg.
My scaler did it before i went 8deg...

Proper Parts = Proper steering..........;-) "thumbsup"

Except he said that he saw it with 8deg and non 8deg.... so it couldn't have been kingpin angle....

My guess is ackerman change? My knuckles do zero ackerman and I am guessing your setup now is non?

Unless its ackerman like above, you shouldnt loose max steering angle changing knuckles. My knuckles will obviously get well over 70*. Probably closer to 80+? Lots of people think this though because they will put my knuckles on right after running Wraith stuff. My arms are quite a bit longer so unless you change up your servo arm/EPA/drag link etc,. Dlux knuckles will have less throw until you properly adjust those parts to get full throw.

The reason non 8* will push on a turn is because it gets a lot more traction than 8*. I guess you can take that however you want, I think traction is a good thing even if it does cause a quirk here and there. Neither 8* or non is perfect, non is just closer to being perfect in rc crawling.

8* is proper for your Honda accord, not proper on a RC crawler.

Oh, and BTW Chris, I have non zero ackerman arms if you wanted to ever go back to my knuckles. I hated the way they worked but as we know, everybody has different tastes.

I run a few degrees toe out so I have faux ackerman.

When it comes to steering ackerman is the only functional difference between dlux knuckles and standard stuff. That has to be the reason in my mind. Unless there is something else such as a gearing offset change in the axles?

I like 1 deg toe out on non acker. but ima have to revert back to 0 deg once I get my secret out.

From everything Ive read about ackerman my understanding is we are wrong on our thinking of what zero ackerman is.

I agree its gotta be an ackerman difference between the hub/knuckles. Having the kingpin and steering arm mount aligned with each other isn't what makes it zero though. BTA and FTA make alter what actual zero is from my non engineering understanding.

Look at the pictures in section 6
FTA vs BTA

Im thinking the non zero arms would probably feel better ;-)

Good discussion trying to figure out what was happening, could be the ackerman as that is really the only difference between the two running in the 8* mode. All I know right now is I'm back to winning again and I'm happy with how the rig is performing."thumbsup"
